Fun Fact the lion-turtle is based on the world Turtle from Chinese folklore. There is also a Dragon turtle mythological beast. The most famous one is Bowser from Super Mario Bros series

2024-08-17 10:10:50 +0000 UTCFun-fact and easily missed detail about this episode. The meeting of the Lion-turtle was actually foreshadowed a long time ago. In Book 2 when they go to the hidden library and discover the eclipse. There is a brief moment where they mention finding a scroll discussing a rare and spiritual creature called a Lion-Turtle. At the time it's a throw-away comment... just like most of the foreshadowing in this show. But it ended up mattering, quite a bit.

"He would've taken it for anyone" I don't care, it was Katara! The writers behind Zuko's story and the voice actors also being for Zutara definitely helps though lol. I don't really care for Mai, I felt that her line about loving Zuko was a little unearned. I feel like I could've gotten behind them if we actually saw them get together lol.
