Honestly you basically just have to mentally pretend this episode never happened (with respect to Luffy vs Zoro) imo because its a truly one off, stand out, out of character moment in the series that makes absolutely no sense and that you won't see again. So don't judge them by this episode, its wildly but uncharacteristically inconsistent with their characters and relationships etc. I believe based on past discussion I've seen that there was a desire (not sure if from the anime company or readers) wanting to see what would happen in a Luffy vs Zoro fight and that was why he included it despite the out of characterness? Not sure if thats true but genuinely just forget it ever happened. Luffy and zoros trust and Luffys intelligence both remain unbothered by this weird AF episode XD Its such an outlier, I dont get it to this day why he did this XD ToT

2024-08-10 03:01:47 +0000 UTCi get what you mean when you say that, but you're also making him out to be evil instead of neutral which is what i believe luffy is. he makes decisions off of what he feels like, but a lot of the time it is to help ppl. if you think to any future arc, he doesn't do shit to be a hero or save everyone, but he does it for specific ppl or reasons. think arlong park, he didn't rlly care about cocoyashi village, he only helped bc of nami. back in syrup village, he didn't gaf about the village ppl, he helped out cause he liked usopp so while yea you're right in a sense, luffy also wouldn't do anything inherently evil for food or just for his own gain i don't think, he does shit to help out the ppl he loves or cares for and doesn't think about the consequences to that. which is why i say he's neutral or morally gray a lot of the times. but then again at the end of the day, i think it's normal to view him as a hero since he does do heroic acts a lot of the times, even if he doesn't label himself that

2024-08-07 23:17:53 +0000 UTCsomeone already commented this, but the zoro vs luffy is a very out of character moment. other than this and maybe a couple other moments, oda is very consistent w his characters and their personalities/decisions. i guess it was kind of entertaining, but i honestly just pretend it never happened in my head cause it feels wrong but in terms of the food thing, food is a big theme in one piece and you'll see it's importance pop up more and more as the series goes on. luffy ofc trusts his crew above all else so this was a weird scene, but in general yea food is rlly important to him and the story also, fun fact, oda made miss wednesday a regular baroque's agent at the beginning until one day he drew her w her hair down and thought she kinda looked like a princess so vivi was born

After the recap and intro each episode is basically like only 15 min long. 6 ep would allow the journey to run more smoothly without being overwhelming. Luffy is always the kindest to these that fed him. That’s the key to his heart. He doesn’t take well when someone is mean to the people that gave him food. He is a kind pirate, so when he thought Zoro had been mean to those ‘generous’ people he felt the need to tell Zoro off. But punches are Luffy’s language.
