2024-08-07 11:34:39 +0000 UTCIf I'm remembering correctly, Shonen Jump and Oda's editors were pressing him pretty hard to have a storyline where Luffy and Zoro fought. If it doesn't feel like an organic part of the story, this is why. Oda didn't really intend to include this kind of thing at this point, and so it was shoehorned in after being pressured externally. Still, I love how Oda was able to at least make it make sense with Luffy's personality and his love of food.

2024-08-07 00:42:38 +0000 UTCI don’t remember if it is cannon that they put alcohol into all their drinks or not but if it is cannon then luffy doesn’t really drink and could be slightly influenced right now. But ya it has definitely always felt weird of luffy to fight zoro like this.

(Specifically leaving it vague so no spoilers)

I will only mention it again when it happens, and I will see if you agree or not. My favourite thing watching these episodes back is that particular enunciation.

2024-08-06 22:54:18 +0000 UTCZoro's Hawk Wave attack is a pretty clear reference to Hawk Eye, which is more noticeable in Japanese (Taka Nami and Taka No Me) Luffy fighting Zoro there feels like the most out of character (non-filler) moment in the series. But still a fun fight, definitely some fanservice. God I love Miss All Sunday's voice.
