2024-08-07 17:02:09 +0000 UTCYeah the show gave plenty of build-up to this betrayal without making it blatant. Thats why the reveal in this episode is still surprising and feels good. But when you look back all of the signs were there. Mai has always been the disobedient of the two. Hilariously it's actually more surprising that Tai Lee sided with Mai and not Azula because aside from some teasing of her discontent with Azula when we first met Tai Lee she has been extremely obedient. That being said, she can seem less surprising to some because of her personality never having seemed to really align with what we expect of Azula. That line is one of my absolute favs as well. It's just so cold and I think it works so well because it's coming from a character like Mai who seems so apathetic. Of all of the people to claim that love is stronger than fear it really... as Ange said... will cut Azula even more deeply. As Azula more or less said herself. "Your the last person I expected to betray me."

2024-08-04 22:20:23 +0000 UTCWell to be fair the only couple I like in the whole series for a while was Suki and Zoka. Zuko and Mai grew on me specially on episode 2 and the beach episode. And yes it would have been nice if this season was 5 episodes longer they could have build up more on the other characters and we could have more Zuko with the gang

She refused to fallow some orders she didn’t like (behind Azula’s back) she knew when a battle was won and defeated. She has a good calculating mind. And since the second episode it look like Mai was getting fed up with Azula messing with Zuko’s head.
