what you were saying about bakugo feeling inferior is totally right. Growing up he was a big fish in a small pond, so far above everyone else he had no real competition. Now all of a sudden he's thrust into arguably the top hero school in the whole country (or at the very least top 2) and while he's still one of the stronger fighters he's studying alongside the very best young japanese heroes, kids with quirks just as powerful and versatile as his and he suddenly realises that he's not quite as special as he thought he was

Rather, he wanted to clear Bakugo's misunderstanding that Deku had been lying to him about not having a quirk, but ends up basically challenging Bakugo in his little speech xD

2024-07-28 05:47:49 +0000 UTCI don't know if I would say that Deku purposely put himself down when talking to Bakugo, I think he fully believes what he's telling Bakugo. I don't think at this point Deku has the confidence in himself to fully believe that what he's doing with the power is fully because of him, especially when he can't use it "properly" yet or so he feels. I mean he was bullied for years so it will have definitely affected his self esteem. So just like the way Bakugo sees things needs to be adjusted so does the way Deku sees things and they're able to bring this to light for each other very well. Deku (and Shoto/others) through their actions in the activity and Bakugo by telling Deku not to say it's a borrowed power when Deku's the one who beat him. Can't wait for you to meet the villains!

Im all over social media and started MHA a couple weeks ago and have yet to see a single spoiler fortunately. As long as their feed on social media platforms isn't just full of anime stuff they should be fine.

Hahahaha I feel like that self-awareness is so big especially with the way he is especially for recognizing that he’s a “small fish”. Also, Recovery Girl for admonishing All Might, she’s one of the few people who can actually put him in his place and don’t just treat him like a celebrity.

2024-07-28 01:58:56 +0000 UTCThis episode is actually the beginning of Bakugo's growth arc. Before, he genuinely believed that he was the GOAT. There was literally no one among his peers who could (or would) stand up to him or be able to actually challenge him. ESPECIALLY Deku, the meek quirkless kid who cried a lot so Bakugo used deku to affirm his own superiority. Then on the first day of the new school year, you find out deku has crazy power AND he beat you in a direct competition!? Was he lying about not having a quirk?? Bakugos world is falling apart. After he sees more kids who seem like they know what they're doing too, he realizes he might actually have some learning to do. Then he gets over his own feelings within a few hours and decides that if hes gonna be number one like he wants, hes gotta work for it. Hes growing :)

All I'll say is make sure you block MHA, character names, etc on youtube and twitter (if you use it). Something to look forward to: Season 7 just had one of the best MHA episodes EVER. Mostly everyone agrees.

2024-07-27 22:17:12 +0000 UTCIt took maybe 3 years, but we finally see a character that's just like (or even surpasses) Vegeta in Vegeta-ness. 🤣 There are going to be a LOT of familiar voices in this show. With Shoto, you already got the man Eren. But Momo has a familiar voice actress as well. And the Crow head guy. And you already mentioned Uraraka being Gabi (still hard to believe). Still need confirmation that Carlie knows Bakugo's VA is Himmel :)

2024-07-27 21:27:28 +0000 UTCAs hostile as Bakugo was, he (maybe unintentionally) gave Izuku some genuinely useful perspective: His power isn't "borrowed". It's *his* Quirk. It might've been intentionally given to him, but that doesn't make it any less his own, and he needs to take both credit and responsibility for anything he does with it. Making excuses to Bakugo is patronizing, even if he doesn't mean it that way.

It seems that this episode was spread between the characters and all of them got short scenes only, including Deku, he was sleeping most of the time XD. Out of these short scenes, Shoto's one was by far the most impressive, it was a very good introduction to his strength !
