The dancing dragon episode is one of my fav eps. its so good

Fire Cape

Yeah she can she does it later in the season

yayoink dab

Nor does she want to Bloodbend at all, more importantly.

Undeath Ghost

🤣

KaijinGarou

I don't think his mind works like that. I think he just cares about his reputation and wouldn't throw a tantrum like that and hold a grudge because he lost. But that's just me. We don't have confirmation so both theories are equally valid.

KaijinGarou

No, I'd say it's personal because over the encounters Combustion Man had with them, he was made a fool of. Kids escaping him and hurting him.

JN

Katara can't use blood bending without the full moon

Lucas Alves

No, I don't think they are hiding that dragons exist. IROH did that to protect the dragons from getting hunted to extinction.

JN

the sun warriors are probably my favorite part of the lore, i really like the native american inspired designs that still somehow fit into the more asian style world of ATLA

L S

Korra! Korra! Korra!

MelanieRS

A much more hidden propaganda was revealed in the dragon episode now that you've seen it. In episode 2 the headband, you see the entire fire nation is taught they are not allowed to dance, and that dragons no longer exist. They are purposely hiding firebendings' true potential and meaning, and teaching that it is rage and hate

david castro

My other theory is he was tilted cause Zuko didn't even pay him. Zuko said "If you keep attacking, I won't pay you". MF hadn't even paid him yet so I'm going on strike with Sparky Sparky Boom Man 🤣

KaijinGarou

IMO it's not that it became personal. I think he couldn't care less about the Avatar. I think that's just how he works. You hire him for a job, the job gets done. Not even the client can cancel it. There are always hitmen like that in cinema. It could harm their reputation if word gets out they don't finish their assignments, even on request. Personal to his profession in all case xD

KaijinGarou

I like to believe they saw a spark of kindness and a warmth of empathy in him, it wasn't being utilized to people outside his culture quite yet but they saw the potential that could erupt into a fire that would change him, the world, and his family for the better

DandyZombie

There's an excellent video by Hello Future Me that goes into the lore of combustion bending and how firebenders achieve this feat because the show doesn't ever really go into it

DandyZombie

LOK spoilers ahead>> i 100% agree, and season 4 as well for the way they showed Korra dealing with her trauma/ptsd and overcoming it

Simone

i love LOK so really hoping they will watch it, I honestly think they will enjoy it a lot

Simone

I expect to see the Ending Song cover by Carlie. 🧑‍🎤

Laureano Oliva

Can't wait for the next episodes!

jamie

Damn you joo dee 😭

JAM

Hi i have some music suggestions team tomodachi by yuki

Jeff

Unfortunately the Joo Dee jump scare gets me every single time.

Kaycee

Alexis

Hahaha poor Zuko 😂

Carlie & Ange

Sorry 😂

Hee Carlie and Ange, Keep in mind bloodbending can only be done during a full moon. When the water bending is at it's strongest. I love that you guys liked the episodes. Like Ange said it's verry hard to pull that interaction of but they did it brilliantly. The 4 part finally is going to be insane :D

john

Especially after today's batch of episodes, they have to. You know what I'm talking about. I personally don't think Korra is in the same league as ATLA, but it's still good. And definitely worth watching just for you-know-what that's related to today's batch of episodes.

JN

Isn't it incredible? You guys already really liked Season 1, and then we said oh Season 2 is even better, which was a pretty impressive bar for you two. Then you saw Season 2 and understood that somehow yes, ATLA S2 was even better than S1. And then we said oh Season 3 is comparable or even better... which is another very impressive bar to meet. But somehow ATLA keeps delivering. When I rewatched that Dragon Dancing with the Masters scene, I was just as awestruck as you two. Really well-done storywriting and presentation.

JN

Pasting another comment I saw: "zuko: "WHY AM I SO BAD AT BEING GOOD?!" me: tbh bro, you're not that good at being bad either..."

JN

To Spark Sparky Boom Man, it became personal. That's why he didn't accept the new offer from Zuko. I agree with your assessment of the writing Ange. They could have easily messed up the redemption arc with a ham-fisted immediate acceptance of Zuko and "what's the past is the past", but they wrote the acceptance naturally, considering everything Zuko has done to them before... with Zuko having to earn their trust back by truly being remorseful, taking accountability, and working on proving to them that he's changed and understands why what he did before was wrong... and that it will never happen again.

JN

I always love how the Dancing Dragon form is tied to the true nature of fire-bending, while in the actual Fire Nation, dancing in general isn't a thing. None of the Fire Nation kids even knew what dancing was when Aang infiltrated the school and held that dance party! In their colonialism, the Fire Nation is even hurting and hindering themselves, which I think is such a cool notion for the show to hint at

Maxine

wait the move that shall not be named is the rite of passage for avatar fans

Dee B

yes pleaseee

Martina

Toph, I really like you, but you didn't solve the Zuko thing very intelligently. You sneaked up on Zuko who was himself on the run from the Fire Nation, of course he was on alert. He even asked who it was before and you didn't answer. What would you have done in that situation? of course attacking. and then you explained it really badly to your friends.

Marcel Badberg

are there plans to do Korra after this?

Kfir shaltiel

Book 3 ep 13 is probably my favorite ep just for the world building and full circle moments. With the dragon's approval Aang and the gaang now have the favor of all the original benders, so many cool details. Sky bison Appa of course no question, the literal moon/moon spirit Yue with Katara and Sokka, badger moles and Toph, and now dragons with Zuko. Zuko has been on the journey with them the whole time, and now he's finally found his part in it as a true friend and ally. Love it

DietPop

Really my favorite book from ATLA.. both excited and tad bit sad we’re nearing the finale

Alexis

Judee jumpscare is really working Terrible Carlie 😂😂😂

Alexis

Zuko's speech was so well done. His dialogue is cathartic and emotional. It breaks my heart because he HAS experienced so much hardship and pain, but it also makes me feel immensely proud of him, to have found the destiny his uncle so deeply wanted for him. This is PEAK Zuko and it always chokes me up seeing these scenes again. He is my favorite character in fiction. Edit: Just a random note - the only other character in fiction that I saw having the potential to be this well written, was Jaime Lannister. It's unfortunate what they did to my man. iykyk :'(

Gabriel Barott

The Joo Dee jumpscare got to me again 😂

Nellie

It's fascinating that the dragons deemed Iroh worthy of learning the true meaning of firebending BEFORE he led the siege of Ba Sing Se, while he was still a military general. He was by no means a good person at the time, and he ruined a lot of people's lives after meeting the dragons (the siege lasted 600 days! so many people must have suffered and even died in that time). He's obviously a much better person now, but I still can't help but wonder what the dragons saw in him back then.

Arca

Hello, ______ here is still how I introduce myself to people (obviously replace the blank with your name) it's such a funny awkward line from Zuko and perfectly captures his personality.

Copycat

The four-parter starts at ep 18 and you're at 13. So don't worry, you have a few more eps left than you think before the finale 👌

KaijinGarou

All of the bending forms were directly inspired by martial arts forms, the creators and the team spent a lot of time to go out to learn and study directly from the respected cultures, Tai chi forms the basis of “waterbending”. Inspiration was taken from the style's fluidity, connectivity and adaptability, all of which became fundamental concepts for all three waterbending styles. Hung Gar forms the basis of “earthbending”. Inspiration was taken from the style's low stances, rooted power and strength. The Northern Shaolin system forms the basis of “firebending”. In particular, Northern Shaolin highlighted fire in the sense that the element has many manifestations. When controlled, it is one way and when out of control, the art becomes something completely different. Firebending features very powerful and dynamic footwork, arrow-like forward attacking techniques, feather-like retreating techniques and employs the "light as a leaf, heavy as iron" concept of fighting. Baguazhang forms the basis of “airbending”. It utilizes light circle walking techniques and the "Eight Trigram Palm". The fundamental concept of airbending is similar to Baguazhang in that a bender shifts and rotates their center in order to counteract resistance and attack.

SpaceCadet

It's not confirmed in the show, they only say the dragons gave them visions. My take is they showed them warm memories of their past and they connected that to the real source of firebending being about passion and love instead of anger and hatred.

KaijinGarou

Zuko season 3 🤝 Aang season 1: "At least we have air"

KaijinGarou

Loved your reaction

H

It's a nice detail that the booby traps in the temple don't destroy the temple cause in this kind of movies I'm always like "why does the trap designed to protect the temple destroy the temple?" 🤣

KaijinGarou

Ange just takes every opportunity to say "chakra", man 🤣

KaijinGarou

Yeah all the bending forms come from copying real types of martial arts, which is why it looks so good. They had martial arts masters come in and choreograph each fight scene. I’ve recommended it before, but there’s a short documentary (30 min) on YouTube that explores the creation of avatar and it goes into the music, animation, and the fighting styles. I think you all should react to it as part of your golden jelly tier ☺️

Katherine Claire

I've always loved that the key to firebending is dance and the kids of the fire nation had forgotten how to dance. The nation has lost its culture. Those subtle things make this show incredible.

David Thompson

They already confirmed they'd watch those and release them all at once, so don't worry about it. The tissues warning was needed though 😭

KaijinGarou

Yup, love how Zuko WAS listening to Iroh all this time. He just needed to decide for himself to act on it. Once he does, all that knowledge and wisdom starts to show. Zuko's actually a great speaker when he's not angrily trying to burn someone 🤣

KaijinGarou

just bangers from here on out, i'm so excited!!

TetraLuna

Sparky Sparky Boom Man has that no refund policy I think.

KaijinGarou

Agreed! I'll die on the hill that Book 3 of Korra is right up there with the best of ATLA. The storytelling, music, worldbuilding, and emotion is peak Avatar

DalyDose

Nah Toph has barely interacted with Zuko at all before this. I think the one time she did was in ep 8 when he helped them fight Azula. Zuko's been a nightmare to the other 3 for a whole season where Toph wasn't around, so it's only natural she can trust him much more easily. She's not more right than the rest here.

KaijinGarou

A few tips for the finale: 1. Watch it in one sitting, even if it's released separately. It's best viewed as one long episode instead of 4 regular episodes 2. Bring tissues lol

DalyDose

Love both episodes. Zuko could feel untitled to be accepted by the Gaang and be upset when he isn't but he get he's done a lot of shit and needs to be the more understanding of all the parties involved and humble himself even more. None of them has a wrong point of view and the show showcases it very well. And ep 13 is just so gorgeous and rich in storytelling, world-building and character development.

KaijinGarou

Hope you guys do Korra after avatar is done

Simon Andersson

The Zuko-Katara chemistry in this episode was off the charts! Cyanide to be specific 🤣. Just teasing, guys, I really don't take it seriously.

KaijinGarou

You guys are the goats 🐐

Maya Coleman

Just to clarify, Katara can only use Blood Bending during a full moon.

Bill0g

Why am I so bad at being good 😟

Maya Coleman

Lets goo!!! Im so excited here
