I've discovered this new animé from this season called "YATAGARASU" produced by Studio Pierrot (Naruto, Black Clover, Boruto, Tokyo Ghoul...) and it's really good !! If anyone is looking for a good animé for the summer and likes historical animé with political disputes, deaths, romance and so on, I recommend this animé ! It is incredibly slept on. :)

I just realized they haven't watched Death Note Yet lol. I am not a Death Note Fan, but I see a lot of people recommend Death Note to start watching anime. I really want them to watch NANA, I think besides Aot, NANA is another MUST-WATCH anime in life. And for my own preference, I would also suggest Psycho Pass Season 1, the original writer of this anime series are responsible for Season 1, and it is very intense, the value of each characters, the conflict they have against each other values.

It doesn’t really matter what demographic you think it’s more suited for, it matters what publication it’s under. It was first self published as a webcomic, but it received a print under a shounen/seinen publication, so it is a shounen. Trust me, there are quite a few other mangas/shows that seem like they should be of a different demographic but they were published under a certain category. It’s not really a matter of opinion, this is literally how they become shoujo/shounen/seinen/jouseis

Well Shojo is a genre, and Indeed it seems like horimiya is considered a shonen wich is complete utter bullcrap since it has every damn code of a Shojo and he'd clearly not written in a way to appealed to shonen audience. Also if you beleive Shojo are a demographic and not a genre then horimiya is a shojo then because it appealed way more to young women than young men. Also I know there are shonen romance I literaly proposed 4 of them along side 3 other Shojo in the post preceeding this poll.

I think horimiya is a great exemple of what a shojo ( even tho it's supposedly a shonen, but let's be honest if you compare to every other manga like it in both shonen or shojo it is much more akin to a Shojo than a shonen) is. It show both the strenght of the shojo genre but also it's weakness, wich is to me mostly the profound superficiality of them. Of course a lot of shojo managed to escape that by being different and more unique but a lot of shojo end up with this particular vibe, I mean just look at stuff like dengeki daisy, sablier or all those reverse harem manga we got in the 2000 to 2010, they had like plenty of like overdramatic situation and complex cornelian dilemma but everything ended up being resolved or forgotten with one little thing: the characters are hot, (he's the one responsible for the loss of your brother ? ho well he's hot. They kidnapped you to force you to marry into their supernatural family ? ho well they're all hot ) But I guess most poeple are deeply superficial anyway so that kind of stuff works. And to me horimiya kinda has a modern version of that vibe, like I read quite a lot of chapters a 3 or 4 years ago but I can't remember anyting important or interesting besides she's popular, he's gloomy but also is not really, and like he's hot because he has tattoo and peircing and now we know he's hot he matters. And even tho I remember still appreciating in since I read it, nowadays it feels really lackluster and kinda end up rubbing me the wrong way especially after I discovered so many more unique and different style of shojo.

Yeah but a big part of the appeal of HS rom coms is nostalgia, and Horimiya hits that really hard. Puts me right back in the middle of my HS romances in such a cozy way. It’s not supposed to be unpredictable, it’s supposed to be almost universal.

I find that even tho I watched plenty of romance anime and HS romance? at some point when you grow up most of all those HS romance become quite uninteresting and kinda all the same. I hope since Carlie and Ange are still relatively new and didn't watch a lot of romance they'll still be able to enjoy all those HS romance story, but also hope some time we'll get something that is not in a high school setting and a little moe mature.

I've only seen one reaction. Pity because the comedy is gold. I feel it doesn't get too much attention because the warm fuzzy moments are sparse. It sort of falls into the crack between romcom and comedy.

I loved S1 of Horimiya until I learned how much was skipped. It could have easily been a multi season series that everyone looked forward to, but instead, they speed ran the manga volumes. I'll give them props for being creative in their attempt at a S2, but telling a character driven story where people grow and learn and form relationships is difficult when you're jumping around the timeline instead of showing everything in chronological order.

Ugh, I'll never get over how the Horimiya anime skipped so much in the first season. Purely as a standalone season, it was quite enjoyable, but when I learned that the anime had been speed running the story, I felt frustrated. You can tell how much love they put into that first season, but the decision to rush through the series and only highlight certain moments killed any chance for a proper, chronological second season. I really wanted to love S2, but I couldn't handle the timeline jumping and trying to remember which character developments and events already happened vs. which hadn't yet happened, sometimes in the span of a single episode. That's not to say Horimiya is bad, because I think it's a great series, but I think the anime adaptation botched things. I really need to read the manga someday, because I'd rather experience a great story featuring character growth and a timeline in the chronological order it was meant to be told. I'm happy for the people who enjoyed both seasons, but for me, S2 felt too weird.

I don't know about the anime since I read the mange, it's cool, it's a nice and relatively classic shojo but I don't know about the perfect romcom anime. It's funny but not hilarious, and it all start from a pretty superficial concept (even tho that's actually a lot of shojo). Something like lovely complex is less superficial, hilarious and handle relathionship in a more mature and realistic way. I mean Fruit basket and kimi no todoke are also huge contenders that don't really get outshine by horimiya. Finally since it's still really just tamed and classic I also think it loose to more unique stories like working!! or ishukan friends or more mature one like nana (not a romcom but still king or in this setting queen of shojo manga) or Nodame cantabile.

I love Inuyasha but it's a very long series. They're already doing One Piece and MHA, which is also why they're not directly jumping to shows like Legend of Korra. Fruits Basket is fantastic but again, it's longer.
