I will say there is something specific that happens in some animes that I don't like and this anime does it quite frequently, but I won't say what it is because it's kind of spoilery.

As far as DIALOGUE goes (like, the script itself) it’s almost ALWAYS better in Japanese because that’s the language it was written in. How many times have we seen an English dub turn a badass line of dialogue into an overextended piece of cringe because the VAs have to cram an unnatural number of syllables in to match the lip flaps? SO MANY TIMES. So… all in all, I think it’s just a very objective, no-feelings-attached rule of thumb to follow with most pieces of media: enjoy it in the language it was made in if at all possible.

2024-07-18 15:42:43 +0000 UTCi love dubs for the most part, but MHA is definitely bottom tier awful. Not the acting, I love the funimation actors. But all the roles are miscast besides a few. Deku & Bakugou the most. I agree that some shows like DBZ, FMA etc can have better dubs.

Like, DBZ, MHA and Solo Leveling. Just tired of the constant dick riding of the Japanese from all the reaction channels and all the”you have to watch it in japanese cause its Japanese” people. I loved the first 2, but I feel like I've been watching the more recent seasons just because I've already watched so much of it lol. I'm not saying it's bad, it's definitely a great anime, but something about it just hasn't hit for me since like S2.

2024-07-16 17:26:01 +0000 UTCLmao this is why I recommended watching episodes 1 and 2 together! 😂😂 Just to go in-depth with the childhood names, Izuku calls Bakugo "Kacchan" because his first name is Katsuki. So, Kat-chan = Kacchan, but Izuku is the only one who dares to call him by such a cute name. On the other hand, Bakugo calls Izuku "Deku" (which is later explained with more impact, so I won't go deeper), but just know that Bakugo calls him that derogatorily. Watching Carlie's terrible first impression of Bakugo is so funny, because since episode 2, he's actually been my favorite MHA character. 😂 I have a feeling that Ange is going to warm up to Bakugo a lot faster than Carlie will. 🤣

The only weak season is probably season 5 because it was being during the pandemic. Something arcs were rushed and others has too much filler.

Bakugo‘s VA is same as Genya from Demon Slayer, too! And I did have the same reaction towards Bakugo as Carlie and didn’t like him at all in the first couple of seasons.. don’t want to spoil anything, but he’s my favorite character now.🤗

(I was thinking of haikyu because bakugo and noya have the same VA lol). Normally sports animes aren’t my thing but I wanted to give it a shot.
