I think it's pretty obvious that the election arc is set-up for content we'll never receive in anime form, unfortunately. That said, they decided to adapt the manga in a mostly faithful way so they kept it in. I don't think it's the MOST interesting content but I also don't hate it. I really like Cheadle as a character, FWIW

2024-06-29 11:12:12 +0000 UTCCan't speak for Ange but as someone who has recorded in studios before I know it's common to pull the low end out of the guitar's EQ so that it "cuts through" the mix more. The guitar's role is NOT low-end (unless you're doing a sparse 1/2 instrument arrangement with a singer) and that job is usually left for the bass guitar. If you look up stems of a lot of famous classic rock songs, you'll find that a lot of rhythm guitar tracks that use distortion often sound SUPER THIN outside of the context of the song but when listened to WITH the rest of the tracks, the guitar then sounds huge.

2024-06-29 10:43:53 +0000 UTCAnge, I love your Hisoka theme. But as a guitarist myself, I'm curious. There are number of sustained notes in that piece, especially early on. Is there a reason you opted not to use vibrato on those? I feel that would have made a nice big feel and attachment for the piece (at least for me). Also, do you pull the low end out of your guitar recordings? Just questions from one guitar brother to another. I'm not on your level of skill and I'm just curious.

Ging is at least top 3 worst anime dad's out there, i despise him too, but unfortunately he's one of the smartest characters in the series😭 he's up there with chrollo, and it makes me sick that my man has to share that title with him lmao. i'm so sad, this journey is coming to an end next week💔 i've watched every single episode along you guys cause yeah i love this show that much lol so i'm gonna miss my hxh drops😭 thanks for the reactions! can't wait to know your thoughts on the finale, i'll probably write a bible for ya'll in the comments too lmao

2024-06-22 19:04:47 +0000 UTC@Jay that's also one of the reasons why I love the election arc. HxH have always excelled in mind games, even in fights, it's always mind games, and Pariston outsmarting everyone is a peak example of mind games in HxH.

2024-06-22 19:00:58 +0000 UTCPersonally i always found the election sub-plot really entertaining, both in a world building sense but also by it's own merit. All the mind games, plans and struggles of the participants are prime HxH content, it doesn't have to be fights to be fun.

2024-06-22 18:24:22 +0000 UTCI think Togashi definitely wrote the election in a way that it's like a satire on real elections and to demonstrate how they can be easily manipulated by smart people. There's definitely more to it though but I'll leave it to next week's discussion once you finish the anime in order to avoid potential spoilers or leaving things to expect.

2024-06-22 18:08:09 +0000 UTCThe election arc is simultaneously a prelude to the dark continent and an exploration of the relationship between Zoldycks. The election sets up the Hunter Association and the Zodiacs as a back drop to the important narrative thread of saving Gon, while also drawing Ging into the story into a feasible manner. Without the election, the beginning of the dark continent stuff looks very different because we have no knowledge of how the Hunter Association functions at the top level. Anime only, it doesn't do an incredible amount outside of worldbuilding and bringing Ging into the story, but I still found it fun to learn about he Zodiacs. However, in the manga, given the events that occur after the anime finishes, the election is incredibly important

All I can say is that the story wouldn't be complete without it and it's related to something Ange said a while back - that's all I can say without getting into specifics. Next week when they finish the anime, it'll be safe to discuss.

So much talking and it does not add a single good thing to the story imo. The Leorio and Ging interaction was cool and all but that could have been done in another way. The Alluka story line would have been enough to end the show :P
