2024-06-24 04:46:05 +0000 UTCGonna have to disagree on y’all’s take that book 1 finale > book 2 finale. Think they are both great but the build up to Zuko’s betrayal, the fight itself, and the shock ending (no pun intended) put it past book 1 for me.

2024-06-22 18:16:43 +0000 UTC2x18 is one of my FAVORITES because of how they storm into the Earth King's castle - like WOW the gang is so talented! We get to see more of the extent of how badass Toph is, and also how much Katara and Aang have progressed in their bending, too. And of course Azula's the one to break the rule of letting the opponent finish powering up, just going straight for the kill 😭 can't even imagine how angry and hurt and terrified Katara was in that moment

2024-06-22 11:10:10 +0000 UTCThe Guru (2x19) is quite possibly my favorite episode in the entire show. ATLA handles the topic of spirituality better than anything I’ve ever seen. It’s just flawless. And the way it transitions from the Guru’s teachings about the illusion of separation, to Toph inventing metalbending is just amazing. There’s a reason her introduction marks the point this show goes from good to great for so many people: her very character represents the importance of breaking from normalcy and facing the reality of the world, instead of being “blinded” by illusion. She didn’t just stop at what she was taught, she built upon that, because her disability left her no choice. And she became the strongest Earthbender because of it. Also, the “earthly attachments” part of the whole chakra system is so perfectly meshed in with the world building while also being something we can directly understand being extremely difficult to master (even for a monk child). They even offer differing perspectives to this later on which is fascinating and honestly some of the best dialogue I’ve ever heard in anything lol. I don’t care what anyone says, this show is not and has never been overrated. It gets all the love it deserves and that’s beautiful.

2024-06-22 04:44:27 +0000 UTCHOLY CRAP! youre guy's commentary and predictions throughout these episodes were so spot on! when Zuko would be tempted again by Azula after getting over his sickness....Aang's trouble with the Guru's wisdom and what he needs to do....Carlie said he'd need some Iroh wisdom which happened! also, I like Book2 because it had so many things set up in early episodes that paid off in the end. the Spirit water that Master Paku gave Katara came in clutch at the end. Roku telling Aang he can't be killed in the Avatar state(he actually didn't go into the avatar state the entire season except for the sandbenders) then he kinda gets kill shotted with Azula there at the end after he finally reaches mastered avatar state. then finally...we see Azula's real threat in the first episode where she reveals lightning bending is a thing and she seems to have be pretty adept at it....she then uses that threat to shoot Aang in the climatic book2 end...

And back then of course if you missed the episode you had no idea when it would air again so I fought with everyone in my family and stayed home 🤣 No regrets, that finale is PEAK 😮💨👌🏽

2024-06-21 21:05:44 +0000 UTCAzula pretty much means blue in Spanish, she shoots blue fire and you want them to give her the red dragon? 🤨 I do think Iroh being the red one holds deeper meaning but that's a conversation for when you have finished the show. Azula being the blue one is a must and I don't think it needs to go much deeper than that. Although the color blue is associated with serenity and Azula is analytical and serene in her own twisted way.
