2024-08-31 16:47:55 +0000 UTCpretty sure she's just trans lol. Illumi referred to her as "otouto" which means younger brother, but Killua referred to her as sister and addressed her as a girl. Nanika is an "it"

2024-07-06 01:06:24 +0000 UTCI disagree with Ange's review at the end regarding the pacing. I get where he's coming from though. There's logic behind it. But to me, I personally found no issues with the pacing, because I understand in the bigger picture that so many different things are happening at once, so many moving pieces. But I do understand from the perspective of being a product of entertainment, it might be dragging or all over the place if you have preferences or favour one story over the others; in my case, I was enjoying the ride of seeing how everything will be coming together. I really enjoyed all the different plot points happening simultaneously and being woven together as part of the greater whole. It brings back to my mind how The Game of Thrones (S1-4 at least) was executed in a similar manner. The success of the interwoven storytelling of course does then become dependent on the quality of the parallel stories. I guess you two and I just disagree on this aspect of the strength of the parallel stories.

2024-06-12 10:33:01 +0000 UTCThere's actually an explanation for it that's pretty much "confirmed" at this point, but it would be too spoillery and touching on some theories for future arcs, so I can't really go into it. But in essence. Alluka -is a girl-, but Nanika -the thing- is a thing. A very specific thing, but nonetheless.

2024-06-09 14:18:49 +0000 UTCI think it's just because the zoldyck family has only birthed boys so they refuse to see alluka (and maybe kalluto to a certain extent) as anything but.

2024-06-08 19:55:03 +0000 UTCBtw, for the sake of clarity. The family does refer to Alluka with male pronouns, because japanese doesn't use pronouns in the same way English does. But you can think of them refering to her as "it" while Killua is the only one who refers to her as a girl.

2024-06-08 17:04:08 +0000 UTCI actually like the last arcs a LOT for what they mean for the story and how it expands on the world

2024-06-08 15:40:15 +0000 UTCOnly Killua respects Alluka's identity. Togashi has a pretty consistent track record addressing gender non-conformity in his work, Alluka is another example of this. She is a pretty compelling depiction of a trans girl who has her identity shunned by her parents (both her gender and identity as a human) but has a single supportive sibling. This is also great characterization for Killua as it really shows his empathetic side in his accepting of his sister and her identity.

2024-06-08 15:31:44 +0000 UTCFrom my understanding Alluka is a boy. I'm not sure why Killua calls him his sister. It could be Alluka identifies as a girl? Or it could be similar to Kalluto (the sibling with the fan who joined the spiders) who is also a boy but dresses as a girl and I think prefers being identified as a girl. Over all I wouldn't worry to much about it and just follow killua's lead on it. Just my thoughts on it, I hope this helps. Awesome reaction!

2024-06-08 13:53:10 +0000 UTCI agree. It's always overlooked because other arcs are masterpieces, but this arc is still awesome.

2024-06-08 11:36:52 +0000 UTCYeah, Killua needs to fulfill three requests first, then he can make a wish. Silva said Milluki last wished for a new computer so the next requests shouldn't be that bad. That's why his dad is allowing him to do it and why they had that little exchange, cause he doesn't think its gonna kill Killua or anything. So if Killua makes a wish to heal Gon, then that's technically it on Killua's part, it's whoever is up next that has to fulfill the resulting requests of that wish.

2024-06-08 09:41:37 +0000 UTCThis last arc is not mentioned a lot, but it's one of my favorites! I'm really looking forward to see your reaction to it. By the way, you did notice it correctly. Killua calls Alluka "Her" and "Little Sister", but the others don't, they say "He", "Little Brother", "That Thing", etc. :) Also, Killua said that the bigger the wish, the bigger the "NEXT" three requests to the "NEXT" person, not to the person who wished. It is pivotal to know the difference. I'm sure you'll get the rules more and more as you watch the arc.

2024-06-08 07:32:04 +0000 UTCI dont really understand why he blames the studio for the placement of the troupe eposides and when the narrator talks, it was that way in the manga to the only thing i agree with is the way kite is introduced in this verison.

2024-06-08 00:09:51 +0000 UTCMy duality of man moment was how I was looking forward to 136 for 1) Reina reveal and all the feel-good emotions from that and 2) the fury at Ging for finally showing up

2024-06-07 22:58:26 +0000 UTCAlso, I know that Gin isn't a lot of people's favorite. However, please consider that his confidence should be admired, not just being cockey, in himself, but in others as awll ......... Also, Ging really tried to respect the chairman's wishes when making his rules, albeit, somewhat more childish, else{would be boring}

2024-06-07 22:39:55 +0000 UTCThe look of absolute DISGUST on Ange's face when Ging rocked up so casually 😂 And as for Alluka's pronouns, I follow Killua's lead (she instead of he) since he's the only one to acknowledge her as a person and member of the family

2024-06-07 21:49:19 +0000 UTCHey Astor good seeing you here xD. My Favorite arc is the ant arc, I just really appreciate the way Togashi portrays the human race, compared against a threat that isn't human .. he emphasizes the good and the bad, and at the very end, you end up comparing the two factions and their values , Ideals and resolve.. the reason it's still my favorite anime. Anyways, I don't want to go in to too much detail, so I'' just leave you with my above impression of the arc, and.... Thank you Carlie and Ange, and chat It's been the highlight for many of my past weeks, watching you go through this journey and experiencing what I hold dear. I know it's not the end of the series, and there's still some more, but I just wanted to get it out there.

2024-06-07 21:45:22 +0000 UTCCarlie said that Pariston looks like Hisoka XD FYI Pariston's voice actor was Hisoka's voice actor in the 1999 version, and that version of Hisoka was a lot creepier. Btw around the middle portion of the Chimera Ant arc, we got Morel and Knov talking about the Vice Chairman (Pariston) not sending the hunters that they requested to help hunt the ants that scattered. They reckoned that Pariston did that to make Netero's faction look bad, and that would benefit him in the next Chairman Election. So this arc, or at least Pariston's character, was already being set up even in the middle of the Chimera Ant arc.

2024-06-07 20:53:07 +0000 UTCThis arc definitely hit harder by introducing a more sinister vibe, Ponzus death of an ant unloading a gun at her and Pokkle getting his brain literally picked apart is all so much more disturbing then anything we typically saw

2024-06-07 19:54:56 +0000 UTCMy personal favorite arc is also Yorknew. I just love the whole cat and mouse between Kurapika and the Spiders within a city of sin that's a lot like Las Vegas. Its vibes is just very intimate, and I generally prefer humans vs humans in most media. But from what I observed, most people who've seen HxH has Chimera Ant arc as their favorite, because as you've said, it has the most peak episodes of the show, and its finale feels a lot like a real finale. It was grand, wheras if you think about it, Yorknew's finale was a bit anti-climactic. I would say that Yorknew's strong point was its middle point, whereas Chimera excelled at the beginning and at the end.
