2024-06-13 06:36:56 +0000 UTCDr. Stone is a little too... boring? Idk. It's "educational" but I don't think it's similar to TAD at all because TAD isn't really trying to teach us anything. The mildly "educational" bits are just there to showcase Xiaomao's knowledge. Also, Dr. Stone doesn't have that mystery vibe to keep it going strong. For whatever reason its ending gets a bad rap but I think "Erased" would be perfect for these two. Mystery drama anime that has light-hearted moments as well.

The whole lie about the "Emporer's sick brother" was to cover for Jinshi being assigned to take care of the Rear Palace (where the concubines live) as a fake eunuch. That way, people wouldn't be wondering why the Emporer's brother is never around (because Jinshi literally can't be around due to his job that his father/brother assigned to him).

2024-06-13 06:20:18 +0000 UTC@ FGK I don't think you were truly experiencing Odd Taxi properly in that case. It was full of humour sprinkled in among its overarching hardboiled tone. Similar to TAD in that case. Witty, clever dialogue, lots of humour in the subtleties and sarcasm, witty dialogue, especially when juxtaposed with the seriousness of the show. May be worth a rewatch for you too, hopefully via C&A :)

Anyway, what show are you gonna replace this one with? More mystery? Then Dr. Stone, it's very similar to AD. Even though it's tagged as shounen it's quite word-heavy and not much action just like AD but you'll learn a lot. The only shounen thing about that show is the young MCs. If you want mystery with action I suggest Bungo Stray Dogs produced by BONES, the same studio that produced FMA. It's tagged as seinen but I don't remember any mature scenes from the show. It's feels more of a shounen with the amount of action it has and young MC. Maybe you guys would like some more authentic shounen with epic fights and animation apart from Bad People Slasher 😆 (really love that alternative). Anyway, I think My Hero Academia is the one for that. You guys did say MHA will be coming to the channel this year. @31:50 from your 20 anime OP reaction (Part.2)....well...you said "maybe" 😅 but I'm still hoping. Speaking of OP reactions, will you guys be doing that again? 🥺 Anyway, going back. How about a romcom? When was the last time you watched a romcom? 🤔 May I suggest Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun. It's just 12eps and 6 3-min specials you'll finish this in one sitting. If you want something longer, Ouran High School Host Club (26 eps). It's a classic made by BONES.

That said, I wonder if they'll ever give it another try since it's such a GOOD show and such a BELOVED show as well.

But if you plan on reacting to a mystery/drama show once a week now, to scratch that mystery itch or have variety on the channel.... Judging by your reactions, you two would LOVE Dr. Stone and Odd Taxi. Very similar well-written mysteries and educational shows like TAD. But maybe it would be best to go with Death Note instead to grow your audience first before reacting to those, as DN has critical acclaim internationally for good reason... It's about 20 years old now and it still holds up. There are probably a lot of current subscribers or potential subscribers looking to re-watch Death Note with you two, so it may make the most sense to go that route. You two would enjoy Death Note as well, but compared to Dr. Stone and Odd Taxi, it won't be as similar to The Apothecary Diaries in terms of overall vibe. But I see you two enjoying Death Note a lot for different reasons... it's a wild ride. Dark crime thriller, full of drama. Not lighter-hearted like the others I mentioned. Then after, maybe when you get more people in through DN, the reactions to Dr. Stone and Odd Taxi or whatever else the higher tier Patreon subs choose could come next. But one day I am especially hoping to see you two watch Dr. Stone and especially Odd Taxi.

2024-06-03 01:56:42 +0000 UTCSomething that kept bugging me with Ep 19 is how apparently a high ranking noble almost gets killed, a critical building component shuts down, and a girl gets injured... and yet no one is scrambling around trying to figure stuff out, do damage control, help Maomao or Jinshi, inspect the rubble, call for emergency services, etc etc. Jarring from a realism perspective lol. But I understand it's for the atmosphere and vibe.

Basically Jinshi is Ahduo's son with the emperor and he got swapped with the kid that the emperor's father had so yes, the "sick" brother is Jinshi (seems very clear that Jinshi is not advertising that he is the emperor's brother [son in reality] in his current job - he seemed surprised that Lahkan knew of his station.) We don't know if the emperor knows Jinshi is his son or thinks Jinshi is his brother. We do not know of any other sons of the late emperor except the current emperor and Jinshi (who was swapped in)

Completely disregarded the fact that the younger brother who is never seen because he's always "sick" might in fact be Jinshi. Who we are led to believe is the emperors younger brother.
