@Ttsukasa Lol, I found your comment on Animixplay (now Aniwave) as well. Surprised to see you in the Patreon comments.

JN

@ 135. That did NOT feel like 20 mins, wtf.

JN

I can't watch the episode it keeps saying the password is wrong ):

Edgar Carreno

"Komugi, are you still there?" He doesn't know how to cope with being blind for the first time AND he's making sure she's still alive. It's extremely heartwarming.

The Great Santini

Dude I intentionally search up sad scenes from anime I've watched in the past specifically TO cry when I'm in the mood for it. Crying over movies/shows/media in general feels awesome to me.

The Great Santini

That's fair but it's not like "being a good friend" at all moments is the be-all end-all to being a good person. People get pushed over the edge.

The Great Santini

Don't get it twisted Ange... it was specifically LOVE that changed Meruem. His pure LOVE for Komugi. I don't think it was like a "romantic" love but simply love for another being who means the world to you. I think it would have been fine and not "cheesy" if Meruem had said, "I love you, Komugi" but it's also fine that he didn't since it was SO heavily implied. Who would have thought this booger-dripping blind girl with ridiculous pigtails would come to have one of the most important character impacts contained in this show? The Meruem/Komugi arc is an example of masterclass writing.

The Great Santini

The fact that you went to the angle of Gon is not a good friend makes me so happy I subscribed. throughout this arc Gon really was beyond 100% selfish and not a good friend I also feel. waiting for the coming episodes and your reaction to those :)

Ananth Varma

and thus he is finally equal to Komugi, in their last moments..

Martina

I loved the show so much I made an android app (I'm a developer now) for it called Greed Island, it was a card collection game where other players could steal your cards if in the proximity of you. It was up for a few years before I couldnt' keep up with it lol. But yeah HxH has played a huge part in my life. Also Gon is a monster. People just somehow don't seem to notice.

Legendary comment 🙌

Kaiser the Elitist

I'm so happy you guys have gotten to this mile marker of one of my most favorite anime!

Ttsukasa

Also since someone else already posted my original comment, i'll say a bit more for you to think about. 1) Earlier you said you knew the exact roll Kogumi would play in this story. I told you at the time "You don't even have a clue." I rest my case. 2) Diego, the true shadow leader of this country was never even there, The guy chasing after all the women and stuck at the castle was a PUPPET, a Look-a-like who was in charge while the real leader was off living his life. At the end, Diego literally is toasting it up even after the story. Showing that in spite of everything this was yet again not even a problem large enough to disrupt the life of the elitist. Also when the king got strong, gangsta buddy says "It will take the strength of a nation to combat this". Yes, yes it will, meaning we will maybe have to take Mereum seriously... It was never "Humankind is helpless". As was said in the original fight with Netero, It was Checkmate from the very very start. 3) And this one is for you Ange. Netero didn't know Komugi's relationship to the King. Netero could not have forseen this ending. But Carlie, you are wrong, the "Good side" was not victorious in Meruem, You guys missed something VERY important to the story that was repeated a couple of times. "The King is teethering between Ant and Human, and both are dangerous, this is bad."~ Neterou Ultimately you can say the human nature was dominate at the end with Meruem, but that is WORSE than the Ant nature winning, The show has shown you repeatedly that Ants have ZERO on Humanity when it comes to Cruelty, destruction, murder, death, torture, greed, etc. Ultimately Humanity was the undoing of the Ant colony to begin with. Suddenly every human influenced ant wants to be it's own King and horde all it's own power. The King, now influenced by Humanity and with his great power unrivaled would have become a MUCH more dangerous threat to the world than as a simple Murder Ant. In fact, beyond just simple eating other creatures, every cruel act you've seen of the ants was human influenced, from making game of their sport, to brain surgery. This is what Netero recognized when he steeled his will to finish his duty. This is what Meruem realized when he told Kogumi "I knew nothing." 4) "I don't think Gon is a good friend" ~ Ange I've typed a lot of again but I want to touch on this and let it go until maybe next time. NO SHIT SHERLOCK!!!, While we are here lets expand on your statement Ange. Gon IS NOT A GOOD PERSON. Not just not a good friend, he's not a GOOD PERSON. A wise person would be cautious being in the same area / room as Gon. And if you pay attention, a few wise people ARE just as cautious. Gon is human nature in a bottle.

Ttsukasa

You found my comment... O.o. I try to send this to those who watch the show whenever I can. I've also posted it to reddit.

HI GUYS ME AGAIN WITH SOME REAL SAUCE... GET TISSUE THIS ONE IS A TEAR JERKER :(. MAYBE THE BEST ENDING EVER SEEN: Please read this so you can better understand the ending scene: Kokoriko ("The King Must Die") is an advanced Gungi technique developed by Komugi that centers around isolating the King(as in Gungi piece, no Meruem)separating it from other pieces and killing it off. Just like Netero and hunters were planning to do to Meruem. However Komugi unexpectedly develops a counter to this technique ("The King Is Saved") in the middle of a game, meaning that the king piece (representing Meruem) no longer has to die (since he unexpectedly survives the nuke). Then, later on, when Komugi uses Kokoriko again, she actually develops a counter to the counter ("she reversed my reversal?!") representing that the King piece (Meruem) actually does have to die after all (because of the poison). However, immediately after beating Meruem using Kokoriko (symbolizing his imminent death), Komugi and Meruem start one final game together, a game when they never finish. 1-5-1 Black King -> 9-5-1White Lieutenant General....I believe, or something to that extent. The counter she found is that the King doesn't have to die alone. Immediately after they die together leaving on the board Meruem's one black piece and Komugi's single white piece, together in Gungi forever. This represents that the two were always united through Gungi, and will continue to be together even after death, undisturbed and united for all eternity. Meruem places his piece down symbolizing his death ,and then Komugi responds by placing hers next to his, showing that she is perfectly willing to die at his side... The black screen/black pannels in the manga show that the Roses's poison has made Meruem go blind. That's why he has to keep asking Komugi if she is still there, because he can't see her anymore. This is ironic because his name means "the light that illuminates/shine upon all". he even got some god-like related photon-based powers before his death, allowing him to fulfill his name. In addition,as they are playing in the bunker before their deaths, Meruem sees a blinding light radiating from Komugi as she 'reverses his reversal",making her the ''light that illuminates even the powerful light''. Despite being far weaker (and blind),her light shined far brighter than his,.Then as he dies, Komugi holds him and feels his head, allowing her to finally "see" or know what his face is like. Thus,as they die, Meruem joins Komugi in blindness as she joins him in death. Meruem can finally what Komugi has been seeing all along, and knows what it feels like to be blind like her,and Komugi finally knows his face, allowing each other to understand the other more as they fade away (the OST used during their death scene is called "understanding").

Ttsukasa

This is why I love y'all/these two as reactors. My absolute favorites. Everyone hypes up 131, which to be sure is incredible, but this (135) episode and what its saying is one of the best/most brilliant storytelling I have ever witnessed. That said, you both appreciated it as such. you understood the implications and what it meant for each character and for the story over all. So thank you for allowing us on this journey with you. your critiques, even the ones I disagree with haha, I think are all fair and I really love they didn't negatively effect your reception to when something is good. Mad respect for that. Finally Ange I totally agree with your take on Gon here. Good takes on all that!

Kaldain

He also repeated himself a lot during his conversation with Palm "It seems that you doubt what you just heard. Then I shall repeat myself" He also kept repeating that he just wanted to see Komugi Really one of the best character developments in anime, especially since it's coming from a villain/antagonist.

Astor Lefflinker

Meruem before: I was born to rule this planet Meruem spending his last moments with Komugi: I see.. I.. was born for this moment

Gon can be very um... morally gray

135 is a masterpiece, beautiful end to an iconic arc

RoZiiii

Yeah man this definitely had me choked up

Carlie & Ange

I'm also glad that it didn't get cheesy and cringe at the end, but just in case you guys were wondering Komugi is around 20 years old

Phil Astar

Komugi became one of top three characters after 135, one of the purest and cutest beings Ive seen in anime. Episode 135 is the best anime episode in terms of ending of an arc Ive watched, the way it is delievered was perfect. Not a single extra thing. The pure exchange of words without any animation was the saddest yet most beautiful thing ever. the moment Meruem asked if Komugi is here or not, I saw the image of him lying down in Komugi's arms. Really cannot describe the last few minutes of this episode, it reached a peak Ihave never experience in such a peaceful way.

Tony Zhao

Ange was very close to crying it felt like🤣, the last time I rmb him being this emotional was in aot when hange died and in violet evergarden😂

mohamed rafee

The arc is over. From episode 136 onwards it will be a new arc

mohamed rafee

it was glitched i copied and pasted like 100 times and it wasn't working but then finally worked

Zain Tahir

Thanks, it's like I'm collecting the infinity stones of tidbits about this one specific scene that make me break down into tears

DrakDoodles

Meruem always told her that he didn't like repeating himself. He repeated "Komugi, are you there?" three times.

J.M.

Why am I still crying over this episode?! I know it by heart, I've watched it maybe 10-15 times....but apparently my heart still can't handle this. Damn it! I've never seen Ange so close to tear up before, and I've been following you for 2 years! Carlie's reaction is literally me everytime I watch this episode 😭. Thank you so much for this amazing react. You're the best ❤️.

Charlotte PhD.

Alot of people see 131 as the peak of HxH,but for me it always was 135,never before I cried for the antagonist. It all just came together in this episode and even 131 would not be complete without 135 and the parallels that this episode completed,I’m glad you liked it 🤗

Aleksandar Mijatović

This arc is a masterpiece. I think you cant fully appreciate it until you see the big picture. Like, yes some episodes are slower... but they are there to put more pieces on the board. Why spending so much time on Welfin, when he has no "strong" role ? Because Togashi placed everything there for a reason. Welfin was always shown to be clever and paranoid. This saved his life. This changed the world. I write too, an this arc always puts me down because I have this "artistic vertigo" looking at it, I'm like "How ? How could every detail, everything fits so PERFECTLY at the end ?"

Maxime Goettelmann

I believe komugis snot was foreshadowing for how the audience would look like at the end of this arc🙏lol (I’ll come back with an actual comment when I get home😭)

beannie

The only time we could hear Killua's footsteps in the anime, was when he jumped towards Gon at the end of Episode 131 when Pitou charged Gon

Phil

While I agree that aspects of it can be described as toxic (which is a word I would not use), their feelings to each other is that they are the other is their best friend in the whole world, however they both have not had another friend before for different reasons for each. Gon has very strong selfish at times personality who wears his heart on his sleeve, while killua is the coolest and most badasd character in the show who is also very vulnerable when it comes to Gon because he is the person he cares most about which made Gon push him around a little I guess. But Gon is DEFINITELY a good friend, actually he is probably the only kid who would have been a friend to killua, I am not sure how many people want to be friends with a child assassin from a very famous assassin family who have killed hundreds if not thousands of people, the nature of Gon of not judging people based on what they did but on what they will do is what made this friendship possible

Ammar gayal

Checkmate from the very beginning..

Astor Lefflinker

If he doesn't cry during "that scene" in Enies Lobby then nothing will do it

If this doesn't do it I am not sure nothing will XD

The arc was long but so worth it for the pay off! I really enjoyed watching it again with you guys

Deathonater5

Never seen Ange get so close to crying. We'll get him at One Piece 1015. Long time to wait though. 🤣 Great reaction.

Vilicity

Meruem is one of the best villains in anime medium and you can see how much growth he gets and how we turned from against him to rooting for him to get his wish to see komugi and the final moments of them both is the purest form of born to be in this place at this moment for this reason, they were always meant to be together. The arc end next episode and it has been quite a ride, we are beginning the final arc of hxh anime next week.

Edward Chireno

By the way, Palm did not know about the bomb. No one knew except for Netero and the masterminds behind it. Palm only knew that they were dying and coughing blood because she was seeing them through her crystal, so she understood that Netero did something.

Aizensalami

Here's a comment left under ep 135 when it aired. Definitely reveals more layers to Meruem/Komigi's final moments: "If anyone wants to know of the hidden messages in this arc, it'll make their story even more beautiful ^ ^ Kokoriko is an advanced Gungi technique developed by Komugi that centers around isolating the King (as in the Gungi piece, not the Chimera Ant), separating it from the other pieces and killing it off. Just like Netero and the Hunters were planning to do to Meruem. However, Komugi unexpectedly develops a counter to this technique in the middle of a game, meaning that the King piece (representing Meruem) no longer has to die (since he unexpectedly survived the nuke). Touching, isn't it? Togashi is a mastermind, and this entire story, especially this arc, is a masterpiece, a beautiful work of art, a canvas depicting love, hatred, innocence, corruption, happiness, suffering, loyalty, betrayal, anger, sadness, life, death, malevolence, destruction, resolve, determination, avarice, sacrifice, "true" power, truth, and understanding."

Kaiser the Elitist

Komugi... are you there?

Aizensalami

Yeah this was the best ep of the arc, even the show seems to know it would be given the special title card without the op song and the ending credits and post credit scene. I think it’s easy to see why the arc is acclaimed. It’s a good example of peaks make the story. It’s not perfect, pacing/priority issues are still there and some things can use more texture, like kite and gon’s relationship can be fleshed out more, meruem and komugi could have maybe had a bit more screen time before the invasion, could have also toned down poufs hammiess during weightier moments, but overall the peak moments are good and make up for it and are the ones that i actually remember even a decade after watching. Like some of the other arcs are definitely better paced and cleaner, but with lower peaks, they just don’t stick out, especially when enough time passes after you finish the series. It’s also just thematically and structurally more ambitious than your average shonen arc, by a long shot. Gon and Meruem not meeting while serving as thematic foils was a great choice and not one you see in most shonens. The royal guards had some more forshadowing in their individual development slightly before the invasion (the scene where the king asks his name, their responses reflect the direction they go in, more or less). And yeah the king is one of the best character in the series and one of the best anime villains.

Veya

Meruem becomes blind at the end due to the poisoning. The Light that illuminates all, the culmination of the evolution of his species who aimed at dominating the planet, has his eyesight stripped away from the aftereffects of a tiny bomb, a manifestation of humanity's inherent capacity for malice. Thematically, this arc is genius.

Kaiser the Elitist

Had to skim through the 135 reaction cuz I didn't wanna cry again also i'm happy you guys understood the royal guards characters so well

Happy

Gon and killua friendship was one of the best I’ve seen but also actually very toxic if you think about it and i can’t believe we’re so close to the end 😭😭💔

Chloé

the end of 135 has me SOBBING every damn time 😭😭 what a lovely story between Meruem and Komugi And in regards to Gon and Killua's friendship, I love when people can discuss their not-so-great aspects! Because while yes they're so fun and precious and have so many moments that just make your heart warm, and I LOVE our boys, there are also quite a few *important* interactions that are not healthy. Even giving them both some grace because they're young and are each other's first real friend, Gon *is* selfish and at times expects Killua to simply comply with what he wants, even in dangerous situations, or fully relies on Killua to be his impulse control - and on the other hand, Killua attached so deeply with Gon and the light he brought into his life that he doesn't know how to put up boundaries/broach serious disagreements with Gon, and lets himself get pulled along without fully voicing his opinions.

Maxine

Haha no need to apologise 😆 not everyone loves DB! I can definitely see why this would be some peoples favourite arc.

Carlie & Ange

Man this arc is one if not my fav arc of all time (didnt watch DB sorry ange)

135 will always make me cry

A lot of people were waiting for 131 but 135 was the one I was waiting for. So excited to watch these and congrats on the 200k subscribers on YT!
