I probably phrased it wrong but, what I mean is that she has no interest in knowing more about him, that’s why I say “questioning” and that she already has an idea of who he is in her mind

Also, maybe more importantly, the audio and video is slightly off so the show's audio (coming from YOUR feed) is slightly behind ours when we sync it up visually. Just a heads up. It hasn't been mentioned directly in the manga so I don't think it's a spoiler! I think it's one of those details that the anime is leaving out since it's not relevant to the plot.

Maomao: "Understood" *Proceeds to doing the complete opposite* 🤣 Maomao keeps putting off any suspicions she has with Jinshi because, remember, she doesn't want to get involved with anything troublesome as much as possible...and for her, it has nothing to do with her. She works on stuff she's told to and she gets paid afterwards that's all that matters for her....apart from poisons of course 😁 If the matter with Jinshi is related to any LETHAL/DEADLY poison or anything similar then 100% Maomao will definitely get involved. I think Maomao is mostly bothered by Jinshi's unpleasant question and not the place he's going to. She said she "pulled it off with no apparent emotion..." so I think that's referring to part where she answered Jinshi's question. Also, Jinshi thought Maomao's avoiding him because he went to a brothel house but, again, Maomao's mostly preoccupied with her mom and not with what Jinshi did 😆 If it's something he did, it's probably the question he asked. I think when Maomao said "He found out" she meant Lakan. Lakan found out she's there. And that last question you guys asked: "Lakan's wrath or Maomao's wrath?" A cunning, intuitive, genius strategist that knows how to use his people or a poison-obsessed genius apothecary apprentice taught by a genius doctor/apothecary? 😂 Which will give Jinshi a higher chance of survival? I say Lakan. But can he outsmart the guy though? Oh and piece no.4 for puzzle no.2 and piece no.1 for puzzle no.3 was shown here 👍 (Also, in my opinion, the subtitles are placed perfectly. They are where they should be ☺️) ***Note: Here's something that could give you guys something to think about ☺️ Maomao said when she was tending to her mom that it's generous for that old lady of the Verdigris House to give her mom a place to stay when courtesans who can't work are usually thrown out somewhere...I mean...is she really generous? Reeeeeaaaalllly? 😳 An old lady who only cares about money? Why do you think a stingy old lady like her is keeping a courtesan that's not bringing in money especially a sick one? With the medicine, treatment and food costs...

2024-05-26 20:17:52 +0000 UTCi think maomao won't go further into questioning jinshi because she literally doesn't care about him lol😭 and that seems very in character for her imo, she has already made up an idea of him in her mind and she's not interested in anything else beyond that i fear, and i actually like that about her, leaves space for an evolution/change in that topic, the day she actually starts caring will feel very rewarding

Your reaction was very appropriate 😁 One thing to pay attention to from this episode (NO SPOILERS) is the way Maomao was talking about things Jinshi has been doing recently, e.g., bathing more, burning incense, eating vegetarian meals and her saying that it sounds like the normal way a noble would prepare to perform a religious ritual.

She doesn't want to mess with that information xD I always had my suspicions of Luomen since MaoMao always called him "Oyaji" which can mean "father", but it also means "old man". She never used "Otousan" or "chichi", or whatever they usually use when calling someone father. The English subs translate "Oyaji" as dad ofc but it can mean "old man" 😅 Btw, in manga MaoMaos mom didn't have a nose. They made it less horrible in anime. Also just a small detail, you can see small MeiMei next to MaoMaos mom when MaoMao talks about Verdigris House past. The scary MaoMao face reveal and how you two just went backwards a little XD I was waiting for that part.
