One of my absolute favorite things about ATLA as a whole is how they play with changes to the status quo. By that I mean changing the "default" state for the characters, like Book 1 had Aang, Katara, and Sokka, on Appa trying to get to the North pole and about Halfway through Zuko starts to take a back seat to Zhao as the main antagonist of that Book. Then the end of Book 1 sees Zhao no longer being a threat, but Zuko and Iroh have lost their ship and the first episode of Book 2 establishing that they are now fugitives. The Gaang is looking for an Earthbending teacher only to find that a city that was fine in Book 1 has now been taken over. I think it goes a long way to make the world feel alive, and shaking up the status quo lends itself to great character writing because you get to see how the characters cope with changes in circumstance over a period of longer than only a single episode.

I feel like they didn't catch that part with Ty lee lol I think they would've brought it up in the discussion.

Azula is my favorite character in the avatar series. I honestly idolized her as a kid wishing I cooled be as cool and cold as her as I was much more like sokka and ty Lee growing up.

Azula is one of my favorite villains in anything. She's intimidating in a way few villains are because she actually gets things done and presents a real threat against Aang and the others. Which is a funny thing to say about a 14-year-old lmao. Also It's interesting that her two closest "friends" are non-benders. It's striking to compare Zuko as a villain vs Azula as a villain. For the whole of season 1, Zuko never felt intimidating or as if he could best Aang (and even Katara later on). He was kind of a joke of a villain, a boy playing at being bad and tough (which he was -- Iroh can certainly see the good inside him). On the other hand, Azula felt truly menacing right from the start. Beyond the difference in skill level, she has a confidence to her and her birthright that Zuko doesn't have. They're interesting contrasts to each other.

Oh they should really wait for the forbidden jing...its an anagram. HxH iykyk.

okay azula hired these two of her past friends because they’re deadly as you can see from their fight. mai uses almost kunai like weapons and ty lee is able to stop people from using their bending from using their pressure points

moose

Yes, as KC has pointed out Azula has done both. We saw her use lighting twice, once during training when she was introduced and a second time fighting Zuko when Iroh redirected it. Otherwise she has used fire. There are plenty of theories about why her fire is blue, but general consensus is that she is simply incredibly skilled and/or talented.

Cornelius Ukena

Azula has both blue fire and lightning. Her fire is blue because she is a powerful firebender (blue hottest part of fire)
