O.P Eps 8-9 REACTIONS!

Usopp is going to be iconic in the anime

O.P Eps 8-9 REACTIONS!

Comments

Maybe if i had one thing i didn't enjoy much in the LA version is usopp's story. The stakes in the LA was just smaller... so i'm really happy you're watching the anime now. 💜 ahh OP... my cheeks still hurt from smiling while watching it.

joaniewwh3502

Fun fact - the animal 'voices' are usually done by the crew's VAs when they're not in episodes. Chouchou, however, was done by a background character VA - Chieko Aratashi.

Liberty

Edit your comment, I don't care about the pace vs piece beef but I hate anyone posting spoilers

Cayseron

TBH I saw this as a nod and wink to Oda's initial premise of OP where there were two types of pirates - Peace Mains and uh.. forget the name of the other, but basically PM's are in it for the adventure while the other are all about the loot, destruction and violence.

Liberty

And it's easily dealt with by jumping to the title card most of the time. The thing people forget is that as a long-running WEEKLY anime, of course they need to remind people sometimes what happened, oh, a year ago. (The in-episode flashbacks are sparse, tbh, and mostly funny when you view them like "animators, wtf you doin? you okay?") Like, usually there's a reason for pacing. Also OP reaction faces are freakin hilarious and crack me up every time. It's so iconic of the series to just have a bunch of BOOM BOOM BOOM reaction reaction reaction. If you approach the series with the idea to have fun and not as a speedrun, it's fine.

Liberty

I'll say it - it's fine if you want to watch a butchered corpse of an epic series, that's your choice, but why do that when you can take your time to enjoy the trip to its fullest? One Pace is a travesty and anyone who recommends it to newcomers deserves to serve life in Level 5.

Liberty

One Pace is for rewatch only. Please do not watch it your first time around. One Piece isn't a race, it's a journey you take. It doesn't matter how long it takes to get to the end of the journey, just that you take it and don't skimp on the sauces.

Liberty

One Pace is a travesty and should never be watched on your first time through. It takes out so much that builds the characters and world better. It messes with the music swells and beats, too. Don't ever recommend it to a first time watcher, ffs. At least let them experience the whole of OP first - making them think watching an anorexic version is best is just criminal.

Liberty

One Pace is only good for if you're rewatching - you miss out on so many small moments that were added to fill out manga scenes a bit more. There's specific parts they cut out that are some of the more enjoyable OP moments. Definitely NOT for a first time watch through.

Liberty

Gods no, please no. They cut out so much stuff that it's a disjointed mess at times. Especially stuff that fills out what the manga didn't have time or space to put in - little character moments, side gags, funny moments between the crew. It's a complete mess. The only thing it ever improved was DR and even then they went too hard in cutting stuff out. It's good for a rewatch, but not for your first time.

Liberty

Just means that those coming into the series from the Live Action are going to experience a lot of fresh stuff instead of treading the same ground 1:1. It's another reason I appreciate the LA - as an old-time OP fan, seeing it remade anew and feel fresh while watching is great. I accepted from day 1 that it was going to be different - it would have to be since it's not a cartoon and has a lot more limitations for things like camera angles, shots and lighting, sizing, etc - so I was excited to see it reimagined into the real world. While there are cons to LA, there are pros, too, like the ability to foreshadow future events better, reference things we see in the manga (like they did with the Bounty Posters of future pirates) and seeing what Oda deems as MOST important to include (cutting out Gin as much as was done, for example, means we probably won't be seeing him again outside of maybe a cover story).

Liberty

yeah, absolutely not. It cuts out too much that fills things out. The pacing is chill, very rarely (like, one arc) is it actually BAD. It's just the action-addicted junkies who hate it that much. And skipping the recap at the start is very easy to do.

Liberty

I dont like that the live action changed some parts about luffys character that make him so charming. In the live action he frees the people from buggy and tells them that he is a "differen kind of pirate". anime luffy doesnt even know what that means. he just does shit randomly. whatever his moral code or his stomach tell him at the time, as long as he can get closer to being king of the pirates.

IronHeartedDevil

Wouldn't recommend One Pace myself.

EmJay

In my opinion, Overall One piece doesn't have bad pacing. It's just specific arcs when you see a drastic slowdown in pacing.

MyRedQueen

sooooo when's the next one?

randalabra

One Piece lives through different arcs with different artstyles/topics and animators. One Pace just mixes them all together so sometimes you watch a 2000's episode 1 and episode 2 is full blown Wano-Kuni artstyle bc there was a remade episode and now they pace it into one pace. Most of the time i watched One Pace i was confused and ''out''. Didn't catch my love. Might love it more to skip 7Minute flashbacks in the start of an episode than having it skipped by some fans.

tris273

i heard that netflix is reworking one piece, basically redoing whole anime with better resolution and no pacing issues or fillers so there's that to look forward to

Cayseron

ok I'll shut up after this but since you guys don't know their ages they're like this: luffy and usopp - 17 Nami - 18 zoro and sanji - 19

randalabra

and yes I believe the long nose from Usopp is because Pinnochio lol. His name also is "uso" in japanese, meaning "lie", plus aesop, as in "aesop's fables" so basically every element of his character is about telling tall tales

randalabra

I've replied to other comments here about One Pace but I figured I'd type it out in my own reply to the ep itself. I first experienced the entirety of op via One Pace. I think it's totally a FINE way to experience, but it is abso-fucking-lutely missing some sort of the "soul" of the series, but that's mainly because it's a fan-made edit of the series. The pacing is garbage sometimes but that's waaaaaayyy later than where you guys are and it's not even an issue, especially with the way you guys are doing it - a youtube reactor experience is gonna be fine either way, you won't even notice it. One Pace is touted as a perfectly "manga-accurate" edit, and it basically IS that. I honestly WISH the anime was as accurate as it is to some degree, but the very nature of it being by fans and the fact that the series wasn't made to be that way make it feel amateur-ish and sorta soulless. Like I said, I don't think it's a bad way to experience the series at all, just like how I don't think the anime itself is bad compared to the manga, but there's really no reason to go for a fan-made project over what's already there for everybody to watch, i guess

randalabra

Man I really do wish One Pace was better though. Idk even what it is, it's definitely MORE manga accurate but it almost over-compensates or something. It just feels shoddily built and misses some essence that makes the anime good. I'm an enormous one piece fan, HATE the pacing sometimes, and do appreciate having seen One Pace as my first time through the whole series, but there is just something that feels soulless somehow. I'm also one of those guys that often dislikes anime adaptations missing some of the point when contrasted to the manga, and it just does not hit the right way.

randalabra

I haven't watched their vid yet so I can't be fully accurate but I definitely agree. I watched One Pace my first time and don't regret it, I think it would've taken a lot longer (and not in the fun way) to watch it without it. However, I feel like I did miss some of the meat and some fun inter-personal crew stuff that makes it fun. It's accurate to the manga to a point, but it DOES feel sloppy in a lot of ways. I think the anime has some of the most annoying, turn-offey pacing in anime history sometimes, and I do think One Pace is good if not for the desperate attempt to get people to watch like you said, but it does not feel like an accurate 1-to-1 manga to anime edit like it's advertised. It feels cheap and over/under-done in that way. I've since read the manga and watched the whole anime, and I DO wish there were a way to experience a more manga-accurate adaptation, but it simply isn't a thing. And plus, youtube reactors are already gonna last a million years watching the show, might as well let them get through it like every anime-watcher ever has lol

randalabra

So glad you’re enjoying them 🥰

Carlie & Ange

i watched OP 5 times and think Onepace is way better post timeskip

Chrisiyyi

latest arcs are so bad pacing wise one pace just is way better then, early i can understand as the earlier arcs are not that bad.

Chrisiyyi

maybe if you have ADHD and/or hate consistency and cohesiveness of narrative. Only positive argument "one pace" side can make thats not strongly subjective is that it is truer to manga and thats it. its not better alternative, its just people being desperate for copium. arguing how one pace "saves you hundreds of hours" as if they gonna use that quality time on something useful -.- no, they just gonna spend that time watching some other anime so its tomayto tomatho

Cayseron

Yeah One Pace is for the rewatch or people coming in from reading the manga, not for new veiwers

DandyZombie

I talked with like hundreds of ppl about it and watched it myself. It's far worse. There are just 2-3 Arcs where theres ''bad pacing'' like 1Mangachapter into 9 Episodes. These are Mixed/Canon episodes so as you see Mixed Canon you know half the ep might be a flashback. So for these eps you could skip the first 7minutes. That are in whole one piece 46Episodes. These are the eps that feel like bad pacing for you mostly. When we get into Dressrosa in 5years from now, they might just skip the 7minute flashbacks in the Mixed CanonEpisodes. But not go for a different experience where they pace ep 662 with episode 85 just to make sense out of the manga but plotting away everything necessary and being not able to steadily hold an artstyle.

tris273

its way better post time skip.

souma shou

nah one pace is decent especially post time skip

souma shou

It is definitely a better alternative in the later arcs, are you kidding me?

Drake

just a clarification, one pace is not "more faithful to manga" and "better experience". its sloppy alternative piled up by some fans. its purpose is to "bait" people into watching one piece in spite of being "intimidated" or "put of" by sheer number of episodes. it is NOT a better replacement of anime, its desparate atempt to get poeple to watch. waiting for actual anime remake from netflix or simply reading manga is and always will be better than watching one pace, if someone ever decides that watching one piece as it is is too much for them that is.

Cayseron

Arlong park is 14-16eps in anime and 2 in LA that was hard downgrade in LA for me. After all i still love it very much and cant wait dor s2🫱🏼‍🫲🏾😁

tris273

I watched One Piece 4 times whole now. I watched One pace too. Trust me DONT go for one pace. It'll confuse you. One Piece gets a remake "the one piece" from netflix in 2025 with a perfect but other pacing. One Piece has a Live action adaptation that goes for perfect pace too. The Manga is readable in 1 month easily. When you finished the OG anime the story will be almost over or even finished. Then you'll have loads of content to create anyway from Tierlists to comparisons between the shows. One Pace differs and confuses the experience and is an idea for you to watch after all of the other stuff to compare with original material. Its more like an last option.

tris273

People are saying already, but the One Pace is more faithful to the manga pacing, it's more dynamic, if the anime starts to get boring/slow, I would recomend to go to One Pace

Daniel Cabral

pls don't listen to ppl telling u to watch one pace lol, as much as i understand and ppl don't want u to waste time, some non canon scenes in the anime are gold, maybe use it after episode 500 lol...but it's up to you op is about the journey! i love god usopp genuinely top 3 characters out of the strawhats, and he's clumsy and coward like but he's human and endearing which i adore, and it's a contrast to the rest of the members minus nami (who is also my fav).

gee

Just want to show love to the show and the reactions. Also to anyone telling you to skip this or to rush, or even watch one pace please don’t listen to them. One pieces is all about the journey not the destination and you guys will catch before the show ends at this rate anyways.

Sonicluis

Luffy saying batshit things always kills me. He's so funny. And Zoro too in the anime. That's kind of the one thing I was annoyed by in the live action -- the actor was way too serious. But maybe they'll improve on that if there's another season. Usopp... it took me a long time to warm up to him ngl. In any version. He might be my least favorite member of the crew. Which isn't to say he's a bad character, just that imo, it took a while for Oda to really get a handle on him as a character. Then again, I know other people liked him from the start so maybe I'm just talking nonsense. I'm really looking forward to your reaction to anime Sanji and whether you find him different from the live action or not.

Nic Q

guys you need to watch better version of One piece called ( One Pace ). Please google it or ask about it. One Pace is over 40% faster to watch compared to the original One Piece anime, while retaining the entire canon. That's over 9000 minutes (150+ hours) saved!

Calvren

I think the rumor was that when they cut the live action from 10 to 8 episodes they had to drop some Usopp content since everything else was more essential. Still a bummer.

Robert F

Wait

Ty

Id say everything in the live action was a bit toned down compared to anime, which is good tbh. Anime accurate Usopp would be painful to watch in live action.

Sydonis

When can we expect new Avatar reactions?

Nah I’d win

Usopp! Yeah they didn’t give ussop much of a highlight in the LA

Super Novice

I get so happy whenever I get the notification for these reactions. One Piece is great vibes, makes my week! :) Also I love so much the choosing your crew! It's so fun hearing what you guys think personally about the characters. It will definitely get more competitive and honestly probably harder to choose as more characters get introduced! lol
