precisely he gives attention to characters that otherwise seem quite uninteresting. and for ppl that just wanna see the main fight that can be super annoying and wasteful but in hindsight u know these ants very well and it adds to the emotional impact of the story. me personally when j first watched i was sick of the slower paced episodes but when the arc was coming to an end, i longed for it bc i didn't want it to end so soon. it rlly just is a take ppl understand with time

the parallels from meruem and gon and their sitting positions is so so good. one is an ant wavering and giving in to his human traits and the other is human who's heart is becoming darker and darker transforming into something we don't recognize. i love it and i love the ikalgo welfin scenes as well so refreshing to see a character that is literally anxiety and overthinking personified find themselves in the mental turmoil that's caused by being a chimera ant

Thanks for saying this. Took the words right right out my mouth. And I'm so glad that I finally found someone here who shares almost the same exact opinion as I do. For several weeks now, I feel like most comments that I've seen here are just about bashing this arc, calling most things filler, boring, and badly paced. So this comment is refreshing. Yeah there's a lot of moving pieces in this arc and Togashi wanted to give justice to all of them.

Damn I was really hoping to hear Meruems quote about the madness of humans with their borders and how inequality is and your reaction to it ; ;

Just wanted to chime in on the whole "pacing" conversation. Togashi clearly loves all of his characters and he tends to try and truly give them the time to tell their story. If you look at the Phantom Troupe arc.. think about how many of the Troupe members he gave really good characters to? Uvogin, Pakunoda, Nobunaga, Phinks, all had very strong character moments. That's not even mentioning the leader, Chrollo, who you would think would be the main focus.. but that's the thing.. there never really IS a main focus character in Togashi's arcs.
If you look at things from that perspective, that Togashi tries to value every character he creates, it takes on a different light. You start to realize that episodes like episode 123 aren't filler, or dragged on (not suggesting the reactors said it, just some comments I read.), but that they mean something to him because these characters have value as well. Welfin's story and Ikalgo's story mean just as much to him as Gon's, Meruem's, Netero's, etc.
Most everyone going through this battle gets the VIP treatment.
Also, I'm finding it difficult to figure out how to say this, but in my opinion Hunter x Hunter has never been about the fights. It's always been about the dialogue and the character development/growth. Hunter x Hunter has some epic fights, don't get me wrong, but for me, it's the feelings/emotions behind those fights that truly make them shine.
I would say to not try and pass too much judgement on this arc because it's one of those, "Ahh, in hindsight I understand why this was necessary.", arcs.
Just don't rush things. It'll happen. And when it's over you'll wish for more, lol.
