the ppl who actually think the slower moments are worth it have finished the arc and know the payoffs so you rlly will only understand once you finish. i think the focus on the smaller lesser ants like welfin, bravoda, even ikalgo bore a lot of ppl but trusttt me it pays off and the reason there's more focus is bc they're barely shown before the fight starts. and i think the change of pacing creates anticipation for the peaks of the arc that much higher and increases satisfaction..at least to me

He's the Warrior of the guards and He faced some warriors that made him grow, he has nothing but respect for them. His natural instinct is to kill whoever threatens the King but these Warriors earned his respect and made him overcome his natural instinct. Crazy unexpected growth.

That being said, yes the pacing is not the best in the moment, but I know at least for me, I still thoroughly enjoyed the arc as a whole and look back on it fondly

2024-05-11 23:26:18 +0000 UTCFully agree with Ange, some people are coping hard witch chimera ant arc, yes the peaks are some of the best in anime and overall it is a very strong arc, but it gets a little too self indulgent at times, with over reliance on narrator and the pacing suffers as a result. There is a reason why "show don't tell" is a rule in audiovisual media. There are sections that just drop the quality bar and Yorknew was a more balanced experience.

It isn't a lot, but when in a episode more than of those happen, it's noticeable. Guess it's sometimes done so that the episodes end in a cliffhanger.

2024-05-11 20:08:01 +0000 UTCAlso just wanted to point out that when the hunters first encountered youpi he viewed them as ants (pun intended:p) or not worth anything as shown when he walked by shoot without killing him, but as he was more impressed by them and how profound nen is he gained respect for humans for the first time and viewed them as his equal, that's why he said to morel that it's only fitting that I make sure to kill you
