Yorknew is also my personal favorite arc, but just from my own observation of the HxH community, most fans seem to have Chimera Ant as their favorite. I understand that it has lows and momentum breaks, but what Chimera Ant arc has it going for it is that it has a really strong start and finish. It wraps up really well and the ending is great. Meanwhile, Yorknew tbh has kind of an anticlimactic ending if you think about it.

2024-04-28 03:40:01 +0000 UTCThis arc really is an up and down all the time, just like in these episodes. 112 and 113 are some really good episodes, while 115 probably is one of the weaker episodes of the series. This does happen a few times in this arc, peak episodes followed by weak ones. Some of these strong episodes would be close to a 10 rating, probably around 9,7 or 9,8 while the weak episodes are somewhere in the 7s. It's these episodes that drag down the entire arc, the result is that most people don't really like this arc overall, despite it having god tier episodes.

To me, the pacing is one of the strongest point of this arc. There's no such thing as ''momentum'' here, it's a game of Gungi and Togashi is placing his pieces very deliberately, and I love how unapologetically he takes his time. But also, Greed Island is my favourite arc, so apparently I'm just weird lol.

2024-04-25 18:10:03 +0000 UTCHaven't watched the 114-115 reactions yet but after listening to your discussion after 113 I have 2 things to say: 1. Love that you guys are enjoying this arc now. I agree with you guys that what we've seen from this arc up until now hasn't been the greatest and that Yorknew was much better but I think Komugi's introduction to the story and how she affects the king and then the fight actually popping off is the "good" part of this arc. 2. Gon fucking HATES Pitou. I don't think Gon is capable of hating anyone, really... but he HATES Pitou. That's what his desaturated eyes and dark aura are supposed to represent. Just figured it was worth putting that out there. EDIT: Just watched 115 reaction: Completely agree. The Wolf-ant shit was completely unnecessary. I'm not sure why the author decided to include it. It almost seemed like an "anime-only filler" thing but it wasn't. There must have been a quicker way to throw stakes into Ikalgo's rescue mission to save Palm, right? The Knuckle, Shoot, Youpi fight stuff is fine but we definitely should have seen Gon and Killua come in contact with Pitou already (and actually have a few minutes with that) and we definitely should have seen at least a bit of Morel's thing with Pouf. I think it would be HIGHLY unrealistic for Zeno to show concern for Killua... I did expect a few more words between Zeno and Killua but I think Carlie was expecting a little too much from him even with my expectations being what they were. You couldn't possible have expected Zeno to fight a losing battle when that wasn't even what he was paid to do, right?

It's also true that the introduction of the Wolf-ant related stuff completely threw a wrench into the momentum the arc had JUST gained. It's a shame.

2024-04-25 01:58:07 +0000 UTCi love all the info these eps reveal about the royal guards, my favorite has to be pitou, when i saw her crying after the king said "i'm counting on you" i literally couldn't believe what i was watching, she's the one who cares about meruem's thoughts and feelings the most so u can make an idea of what she probably felt there. now about the pacing, i wasn't expecting you guys having much trouble with it! to me this pacing is perfect, i think none of the big payoffs would have worked if we didn't have this much of a build up, the way the author highlights the mentality of everyone is what gives so much depth to their characters, that's what makes their actions feel organic and real. i do have to say that watching this arc 4 episodes a week could add to you losing momentum (imo), i probably think this way because i literally watched like 20 eps per week on a vacation lmaoooπ. your opinion is valid to me tho, pls keep being transparent with your thoughts on everything! i'm enjoying your reactions sm, next week is gonna be peak again!

2024-04-25 01:25:47 +0000 UTCAs someone that has watched the arc before i will once again tell you guys to have faith on what is going on, no scene is wasted on this arc, even the ones that makes you think are too long are worth it on the resolution, everything is going to tie up to the end of this arc and everything that you see now that you question is going to be answered and everything you see here will leave a bigger impact on the pay off just by the build up. And once i again i ask you guys to PLS REACT TO EPISODE 125-126 TOGETHER, WE ARE 10 EPISODES AWAY FROM THAT BUT ITS GOING TO BE WORTH IT.

Totally fine! Watching it airing one at a time, week to week was pretty incredible. Looking forward to you both getting more chills as things progress.
