Re:ZERO 2x17-2x19 FULL REACTIONS!

Heard the OP cover in one of these episodes. I'll be covering it in the next batch of Reactions. These 3 episodes were all great. Justice for Guese!

These episodes confused me to. lol. Is mother fortuna her mother? or is it Echidna? Is Echidna actually Satella? Loved your reactions.

Stories thru art

Ah that’s right!

The Great Santini

yeah i was about to say to ange/carlie, i dont think it was just "look at me, i can teleport myself and other people". but she literally sounds like Rett Con from Rick and Morty, where she can basically alter reality in "what do you mean? this was always the case" or "this thing you think was reality, wasn't, this is your reality, because i made it so"... and in regulus's case it was like "you're not here, you're not here arguing with me, you're at home with your wives and chillin far far away... you are not here, you were never here." and regulus just POOF'd out as if he was never on screen

Charles Malo

@The Great Santini, didn't emilia "kill" geuse's "jumped spirit" in the timewhere that same spirit eventually jumped to Subaru? and Subaru asked Felis/Julius to kill him? I could have sworn that we all felt happy and then realized subaru got hijacked... and that's why in the last loop attempt, subaru and others dispatched of the OTHER fingers first and left Geuse till the end to make sure it's only subaru left that he could try to run away to.

Cyber

yeah. it's possible Puck could be like when those other animes tell you of an "ancient beast" that existed before people can even remember... so who knows. i doubt fortuna "is" puck, but maybe she rubbed off on him, either via contract, or socializing (he WAS the protector of THAT section of the forest right? and Fortuna was the guardian of that forest from the dwellers, so maybe they interacted a lot)... and whether it was a contract or lia's essense binding to puck's spirit, or maybe it's just familiarity of puck because emilia reminds him of fortuna, who knows... but i think there's somethng there. it's too on the nose for the show to just kinda skim over it.

What's so interesting about the witch cult archbishops and other figures like Pandora and the other witches, is how twisted their logic becomes in accordance with their affiliated sin.

Roboton

I like your theory about Fortuna somehow becoming Puck or being heavily tied to Puck in some way. The only thing I'm not sure about is Puck's age. As an anime-only, I literally don't know if Puck has a history before his meeting with Emilia.

The Great Santini

True. Emilia did kill Geuese once in Season 1 but it was after his spirit "jumped" from his original body (I'm making the assumption that the white-skinned cartoon character-looking version of Geuese we saw in S1 was still his original body..) to that old man cult member in the middle of town. So, I'm not sure if Emilia would have even known that it was the same spirit (Beetleguese) inside of that cult member.

The Great Santini

@Ange: To MY eye it seemed like Pandora did WAY more than just "teleport" Regulus. She undid all of the actions he performed and the damage he did to Geuse. It SEEMS as if she can literally WRITE REALITY based on her desires. She said she was the "Witch of Vanity," I think?

The Great Santini

i just noticed u and i wrote similar posts about puck's "lia" and beetlegeuse's VA. nice to see a kindred spirit lol (no pun intended LOL)

Cyber

are you saying she opened...PANDORA's box? *i'll show myself out*

Cyber

oh and ps 1 more thing: i dont think Emilia EVER met Beetlegeuse in the "final loop" timeline in season 1. Even when geuse was chasing Subaru, she was always far. They originaly fought geuse separately, he tried to take over subaru, witch of envy(?) (or whoever's hand this is) basically enemy-zoned geuse LOL and yoinked him out, and then he got killed, and then subaru went to town, dealt with the spy, got everyone out to safety while hiding his face with emilia's magic cloak, and then emilia and the kids ran away with the cart to the city, but then as subaru was chasing back (and crossed wilheim on the way), emilia was always ahead of the pack and never actually met beetlegeuse. So what she's seeing here, is probably the first time she's ever seen him without any earlier prejudice on who he became.

Cyber

Hahah thanks for the kind words ESPECIALY after you made me stay awake pulling a full alnighter on my software engineering architecture project because SOMEONE thought it was a good idea to release 3 episodes on monday night, right before Charles's big presentation. tsk tsk :P But I'm glad I was able to find time to sneak in my thoughts AND finish my work on time ... australian time -.- hahahah

Love those theories man. Didnt put together the whole “Lia” and similar communication both puck and fortuna use

@ange/carlie The way Beetlegeuse's sweet protector personality gets slowly broken down into a craze, and how the voice actor (same VA i think) slowly goes from the Calm and kind Geuse to slowly emphasis DESU and then slowly starting to show the crazed maneurisms of the beetlegeuse we know, only to completely SNAP in the end and start repeating himself in full shock... Now look back at all the episodes with Geuse in season 1. His main motive has always been to do everything possible for love... and we see here, he snapped because all on his mind was his love and protection for Fortuna, only to realize that he killed her... He can't believe what he did and goes mad because he cannot comprehend how he could ever do something like that... And then when the VA popped OFF with the beetlegeuse final-version that we've known? man i got CHILLS.... especially since the episode is titled "the day Beetlegeuse laughed". especially since the episodes preceeding it, we saw that Beetlegeuse CRIED often from emotion.. he was always bearing his heart in his hands... and then he crushed his heart (fortuna) with his unseen hand. Also, I'm also an anime watcher as well, but when you 2 were discussing which witch (say that 10 times in a row) , which witch could be the mother of emilia, i also theorize like you that that witch would have a lovely but strong personality and not have the silver hair either. This is ONLY a theory, I have not seen any of the books or the likes, but Mother Fortuna said something that kinda made me put a tinfoil hat on... She said, "i'm sorry brother, i couldn't fullfill my promises... your wife... she's going to be really angry..." HMMM.. Angry, Anger? A witch that is both kind but also strong willed and shows love with a very angry approach?... Is this a hint or another misleading shenanegan by the show? Also... I'm not sure if you remember, @ange, but yes that was indeed the black serpent from the OVA. So if anything, we can rest assured that Emilia and Pucked avenged Archi's death. And also, i'm not sure if you guys noticed it and just didn't see the importance of that line, but Emilia always said that Puck was the only one to ever call her LIA, but yet we see here that Mother Fortuna called her Lia, with emphasis btw, twice, and then she even repeated puck's infamous line of "no one could ever love you as much as I do." , and Mother Fortuna knew about Emilia being very favorited to be a spirit arts user, so is there a chance that the contract that Puck had to protect lia at all costs, but without interfering, is a manifestation of a contact with either Mother Fortuna (who seemed to also be a spirits art user maybe? Maybe because she knew that emilia was a spirit arts user that she would set her own spirit/puck on a path to babysit emilia? Or maybe her will/love/spirit (no pun intended) empowered puck's spirit or begged it to have a last second contract enforcement? I dont know, but she also had the same crystal powers as both puck and emilia), so is it possible that Puck's original contract was not with emilia, but with Mother Fortuna? Or maybe it could have been a contract with the witch who may have been emilia's actual mother? As opposed to Echidna? Not sure. I'm just throwing theories here.

Naaaah pandoras gotta go! 😬

Thanks once again for the uploads and the good discussion. --- Betelgeuse was crying in the forest with the two of them because he was emotionally moved to tears by their beautiful mother-daughter affection and bond. Also, not sure if you've noticed how Betelgeuse started to gradually emphasize DESU more and more as he began losing control. Nice touch and foreshadowing of what's to come in the future for him. Very tragic. --- Something to note about the Ryuzus is that they name themselves after the Alphabet. Ryuzu Alma, Ryuzu Bilma, Ryuzu Shima (C-ma). This is really only noticeable if you understand how Japanese pronunciation works... they can't say SEE so they say SHE. --- I wonder if Pandora's reality-rewriting power is related to her being the Witch of Vanity, so she can vainly self-delude herself into thinking that whatever she wants to happen, will happen. Basically the power of a spoiled child and sore loser "NO that didn't happen!". That definitely ties in nicely with being vain. --- Did you two notice how Fortuna called her Lia later on? She also says Puck's catchphrase of "There's no one else in the world who loves you as much as I do." I am just an anime-only watcher as well, but this really makes me believe that through some contract with a powerful witch, Fortuna was able to re-incarnate as Puck. They have similar mannerisms, powerful ice magic, and Puck has an inseperable bond with his "daughter" Emilia. And Puck came out of nowhere after Fortuna's death. I really do think Fortuna made a contract with a Witch and reincarnated as Puck.

Pandora in 1.5 episodes comes in and wrecks everything. Big Boss energy for sure. Extremely OP. Also the thing I would say about Roswaal and the tome of wisdom is it is supposed to lead him to a future he desires. So basically a future he desires is one in which Otto is not a player in this game that Roswaal wants to get to his goals
