2024-04-21 03:54:04 +0000 UTCabout komugi's nen, i dont know how much is possible to explain without spoilers but without any specifics i'd say Nen is very versatile power and what makes it unique to other powers is its versatility and everyone is able to create unique nen that best suits that character and their deepest desires. For example Kurapika's chain are born from his desire to defeat spiders and to quote him "Because there are people at large who need to be chained to hell". Or Hisoka's nen ability is inspired by his childhood favorite candy (bungee gum). I dont think it is perfectly accurate to say nen is born from emotions but that kinda sums it up well enough. Without spoiling too much ill just point out how important gungi is to Komugi and you can go back and listen to everything she said about her life and how big role in her life gungi has. I could say more stuff but it would probably be spoiler at this point, I suggest to rewatch the episode about the wooden idol/artifact (episode 48 i think) where they talk about stuff that could be applied here

Yes he could have easily make Meruem develop empathy and realize he care about komugi in certain way but why would Togashi ever be so logical and simple. Instead you need to make him have existential crisis, come to complete opposite conclusion only to have that mentality questioned and thrown away in next scene and come to same conclusion/destination he would come to if he simply took a right turn

2024-04-20 20:50:53 +0000 UTCSo, I don't remember exactly how it was phrased when the show explained it, but iirc nen is sort of everywhere, if you think back to the auction stuff gon and killua could sense the aura coming off of inanimate objects because of the nen of the person who made them and they also say that geniuses and prodigies use nen in sort of like a background way. So afaik komugi technically has nen but like a latent nen not actual nen powers like the hunters use.
