2024-04-23 13:00:14 +0000 UTCThe old medicine lady might be Kaguya Sama in the Avatar universe, she even named her cat Miyuki after our boy President/Kaichou Miyuki Shirogane :)

2024-04-22 18:18:33 +0000 UTCAdmiral Zhao is voiced by Jason Isaacs who plays quite a few good villains. Lucious Malfoy...not sure you guys have watched Harry Potter or not. Of course he plays also in a good war movie called "The Patriot" with Mel Gibson.
Nate Terry
2024-04-22 02:19:54 +0000 UTCFirelord Ozai was voiced by Mark Hamill. AKA Luke Skywalker and also, the Joker from the animated batman series in the 90's and the arkham asylum video games.

2024-04-21 01:04:17 +0000 UTCIt makes sense that, in Louisiana, people eat frog legs since it's very much a thing we French people are known for and we did spend some time in Lousiana haha. (it's not eaten often and not many people still do though)

2024-04-21 00:19:39 +0000 UTCi dont understand wanting to skip the 11th episode, its not like this is some long running shonen with 100-1000 episodes. is it critical to the story? no. but just let them watch the show as is.

2024-04-20 22:38:46 +0000 UTCall these idiots who say the great divide is a filler episode. it isnt a filler episode. this was made up by the idiots who treat the episode like its is the worst episode ever made in the entire history of tv.

2024-04-20 20:39:46 +0000 UTCSo idk if you have this in Australia but in the southern states of the US (mainly Louisiana I believe) frogs do get eaten (their legs specifically) and they're not too bad tbh 😄😅

2024-04-20 19:27:09 +0000 UTCThat's very fair and I kinda agree with you even if I told them it was skippable. But there are some other ATLA episodes I think would fall under the filler definition too and I would never say they are skippable. Filler can be important too. This is the only one I think it really isn't but you might be right it shouldn't get skipped on a first watch, at least. Still, thanks to my and others' skip suggestions, we got 3 eps instead of 2, so we all won in the end 🤣. Thanks to you too!

2024-04-20 18:35:43 +0000 UTCI can understand your point, but to be honest... I don't know if that's how I want to interact with original works. It's not up to me to determine if I can discard content that a writer has given me because I don't think it is meaningful. I just appraise it as part of the whole, even if it feels meandering or unimportant. I think the reason it's become to mean "not in the original" is for legitimate reasons. I do thank you for taking the time to respond though!!

2024-04-20 18:26:13 +0000 UTCHonestly when you guys were talking about how the fire came from Zuko (when you didn't know it was him yet), it gave me flashbacks to the female titan's blood debacle LMAOOO

2024-04-20 18:17:36 +0000 UTCI just did in a different answer to you. Filler just means content that fills time without moving the plot or the characters forward in any meaningful way. Lately, it's often used as a synonym for 'content that was not in the original' but that's not necessarily true. Now we can argue if ep 11 does or does not develop the show in a meaningful enough way to figure out whether it really is or isn't filler, but just being canon or not isn't enough. Manga and books can have filler too.

2024-04-20 18:05:09 +0000 UTCThis is exactly what makes this show's writing so great!

2024-04-20 18:01:44 +0000 UTCGreat reaction and you're making a great job at understanding the characters' motivations. Even if you didn't figure out the Blue Spirit was Zuko because they really were sneaky about it showing him at a different location and all, you did mention rescuing Aang was something he would do and maybe had to end up doing, as it was the case. That fire you saw was still from the guard, though. Zuko was very careful not to do any firebending for the Fire Nation not to figure out who they were.
KaijinGarou
2024-04-20 17:54:57 +0000 UTCZuko didn’t firebend because it’s one more clue to figure out who he is and why would he firebend there but at no other point during the rescue. Also that wasn’t smoke from Zuko, it was dirt kicked up from falling on the ground.

2024-04-20 17:53:33 +0000 UTCAll I can say to you carlie and ange is that without spoilers avatar is a roller-coaster of emotions and you guys will not regret watching the rest of this show

2024-04-20 17:47:42 +0000 UTCfiller-canon in the context of adapted works just means that the episode contains both work from the original and filler stuff.
MelanieRS
2024-04-20 17:46:58 +0000 UTCPlease explain what canon filler means. Because to me, filler is just episodes that are done in order to fill in when the original material is not available... Here's why I don't think filler can exist in an original work (feel free to correct me if i'm wrong) because even if it's not directly connected to the main storyline often side-quest episodes have a lot of character stuff that is also important to the overall story.
MelanieRS
2024-04-20 17:44:41 +0000 UTCMan what I'd give to play a good Zuko-Aang escape coop mission with someone else but they keep giving us crappy games 😥
KaijinGarou
2024-04-20 17:43:32 +0000 UTCFun fact, frogs that freeze themselves during the winter do exist. They're called wood frogs and can be found in places like Alaska.
KaijinGarou
2024-04-20 17:28:47 +0000 UTCIt's as you guys said, Zuko in his twisted perception of what "honor" means (not by his own faults of course), he still wants to prove to his father that he is worth something. He wants to be accepted and loved by his father even if his task was essentially impossible. Zuko's story is already such a tragic one, and he's just a teenage kid after all.
Gabriel Barott
2024-04-20 17:04:24 +0000 UTCI think you're confused about what filler means, it isn't just 'not canon'. There is such thing as canon filler. But I'm glad they decided to give us 3 instead of skipping it, too.
KaijinGarou
2024-04-20 16:52:54 +0000 UTCWho told you it wasn’t canon?
Douglas Kelley
2024-04-20 16:49:51 +0000 UTCHaha there are actually stairs to that cave but I must admit it took me a few rewatches to see them. I was very confused about this old woman having super powers or not at first too 😂. Still, that's a rough ride for an old lady in the middle of a storm, stairs or not 🤣
KaijinGarou
2024-04-20 16:49:05 +0000 UTCwill re zero come out today?
Alisher
2024-04-20 16:41:48 +0000 UTCI'm really glad they did watch ep 11. There is no such thing as filler in an original show. All the episodes are cannon. Some people just don't enjoy this episode, which is fair, but doesn't mean it should be skipped or any of them.
MelanieRS
2024-04-20 16:39:22 +0000 UTC@melanie Filler also and originally means content that adds nothing to the plot or to the character arcs and exists just to fill time, not only that it isn't canon. It started to also mean that later but not just because it's in the OG means it can't be filler. A book can have filler xD.
KaijinGarou
2024-04-20 16:36:17 +0000 UTCwhat does it mean to be a "filler" episode in a series that is not being adapted from anything at all? It is just an episode that is part of their adventures.
MelanieRS
2024-04-20 16:34:22 +0000 UTCLove this and happy you didn't skip it! Maybe it's not a rewatchable episode but still enjoyable on first watch and part of the experience!
Steffi
2024-04-20 16:33:36 +0000 UTC@april yeah, not my case because I never watched it back then but I hear that a lot. For me it's just a meh filler episode that adds nothing and is in the way of two great episodes but don't really hate it or think anyone does.
KaijinGarou
2024-04-20 16:32:46 +0000 UTCfair to both of you! Of course I've seen it a million times but I'm curious to see how they react to it as first time viewers

2024-04-20 16:27:35 +0000 UTCYup they're making a parallel between Aang and Zuko and won't be the last. Interesting how a selfish act set the main character on a hero path and a selfless act set the main antagonist on a villain path.
KaijinGarou
2024-04-20 16:26:31 +0000 UTCI think because it's more a of a "filler" episode so it was constantly being replayed when we were growing up lol.
april 🍏
2024-04-20 16:25:06 +0000 UTCWere people saying to skip 11? 😂 I don't understand why people dislike that episode so much lol
