I've watched this show multiple times over the years and this is the first time I've felt with my whole heart, that I don't like Katara lol. Maybe I didn't pay attention before, but I definitely am this time. There are no excuses for immediately going against your family, TWICE, because of boys you just met.

And now there is this cool, confident boy in front of her, who is also manipulative and smooth as hell. It's not that surprising she behaved that way. And she came around in the end. Learning to be more critical and sceptical is a big part of Katara's character arc

It is a fun and unserious show sometimes but everything in it is meaningful and relies on subtext frequently. It can be easy to miss key details due to some of the pacing in these earlier episodes as well. Just something to keep in mind as you guys move forward!

Especially when there’s a clearly capable leader of a group strong enough to fend off the world’s oppressors. Just sibling stuff. And putting a boy as overly cool as Jet in front of a 14 year old girl doesn’t help either😂 It’s easy to root for an underdog like Sokka but he’d be a super annoying brother

2024-04-12 00:30:02 +0000 UTCLoved this 🤣 Yes, Katara is only 14 and even though she can be a little much, I love her for it. Avatar is great at writing 3 dimensional characters with realistic flaws. Also, for the record, Aang is 12, Sokka is 15, and Zuko is 16 ☺️

It's the only filler episode the fandom agree it's not worth watching, while 12 and 13 are great episodes that are not technically a two-parter but might as well be and people surely are excited about them. Up to you, of course.
