2024-04-10 20:36:47 +0000 UTCI can't say what's going on in Roswall's mind, but I never saw him as agreeing "too quickly" because of a single line that he said. He said "you want to save the sanctuary, pass the trial, survive the snow rabbits AND save the mansion without... losing anything? without losing yourself? That kind of mentality is very... very... GREEDY." That , that last word for me, i think sold him on the approach. Otto's said that Roswall's a smartass and narcisistic and never lost anything ( as far as he knows, put the trial aside, he means that from a business/strategy/plotting mischievous perspective) so Roswall would entertain the idea of the bet, but i think, personally, what sold it to Roswall, was the GREEDINESS of what subaru offered.. and considering how invested he is with Echidna, the witch of GREED, who herself said in the tea party that Subaru wants to save everyone and save himself too and that's GREEDY (with a smirk). I think that subaru's greed as an emotion or trait is shining heavily in the last couple of episodes, and Roswall might have related to that sentiment as a kindled feeling of what he saw in none other than Echidna that he admires right? And what does Roswall has to lose here? If Subaru's resolve is strong enough to be THIS greedy, and win the bet, then he's confirmed that Subaru's tactics are different but can potentially lead him to his goals...and if subaru loses the bet, well, sucks for subaru but Roswall still wins technically, because subaru will have to try again and again and keep sharpening that resolve and get to that endgame that roswall wants, but at the cost of subaru's "passionate greed" in favor of broken resolve in favor of being more willing to lose parts of himself in order to get roswall and emilia where they need to be. So i see no reason why roswall WOULDNT take that bet, it benefits him as much as it benefits subaru if not more. Roswall can't lose that bet technically in the grand scheme of things of what Roswall wants to achieve with Subaru. Only Subaru can lose that bet, but subaru's challenging it with the HOPE of winning it... which is exactly what Roswall was saying: as long as there's hope, there's a CHANCE and if subaru's got that hope? Why not let him play it out, Roswall wins eitherway, with or without subaru's ehm...compliance.. so, it's heavily sided to Roswall. He's a smart one that Roswall after all.

There’s quite a lot of interesting stuff cut from Season 1 and 2 that can be instead included into future seasons. I think this was a purposeful omission. Given how the back half of this season plays out, it seems like the anime wanted to allude to this possibility, rather than outright explain it. If someone were going from anime to read the novels where the anime left off, that would be important to tell them. But as they are anime-only, I think this is just a straight up huge Spoiler.

While i've no issues with most of the cut content, there is some that i lament, like this one: It was elaborated upon, that Satella has 2 personalities. This is due to the fact that when she consumed the Witch factor of envy, she was never compatible with it. (You will see an example of that later on). Until now, all we saw from her was the witch of envy and not Satella. Right now, the person we are seeing is Satella and not the witch of envy. Which is also why the other witches are not hostil towards her, because they make a difference between the 2 personalities and they actually love Satella but hate the witch of envy. Except for Echidna, she has some beef with Satella.
