At the end of episode 28 when the credits roll it is showing the burial places and special locations Frieren has been. Himmel's grave is in the first shot, Heiter's in the second, Eisen and his hut third, Flamme's house and eventually leading up to Flamme's grave surrounded by a beautiful field of flowers.

Most of the mages would have died if they took an actual test, so doing that before the first test would never happen. Frieren then explains that Serie's intuition is always right. With this i fo, I think she should do this for e ery test.

Learning a lot and appreciating more from the re-watch + discussion, and just also having fun re-watching the series again. Frieren is also another unexpected favourite of mine now. Top tier easily from all the 200+ series I've seen. Did you guys know that Himmel's VA is the same as Garfiel's from Re:Zero? I still have trouble reconciling that fact. Garfiel and Genya from Demon Slayer too. ~Episode 27~ @ 7:50 I think you two kind of missed it, but when Richter agreed to repair the staff, he changed his mind because Frieren insinuated that he didn't have the skillset to repair the staff ("If you can't do it, then nevermind")... at least that's how I read it. That's why he responded after by saying she pisses him off. @ 14:40 You made a great observation about how Serie talks down about someone but then afterwards praises them. But you unfortunately missed a neat detail as a result: Lernen, the old mage, was noted by Serie as probably being the only one able to notice Frieren's mana fluctations on first glance since the Demon King himself. Very elite mage. @ 16:10 Oh shit I just realized Frieren said she knew Serie "A long time ago"... and we know that for her, 80 years is "only 80 years." I guess 1000 years is long enough for her to consider "a long time ago." ~Episode 28~ @ 32:14 Good eye, Ange. Apparently, I read a comment that the golems that were used during the 2nd exam were created by Lernen. Those were some powerful golems too, so it's another testament to his power level.

2024-04-04 22:13:53 +0000 UTCI don't think a 2nd season is confirmed nor can we be sure there is one coming just because it's succesful and because there is more manga. Madhouse is notorious for not doing 2nd season (despite having done 2nd seasons multiple times).

Madhouse also did One Punch Man season 1, which was also IMMENSELY popular and well received, yet season 2 was given to JC Staff. They did something special with this series, it's just so solid, I can't really fault it on anything.

He came across as a smart but underhanded mage at the start but quickly managed to become probably one of my favorite character in the whole show. That's actually impressive because all the notable characters in the series are so well written.

2024-04-04 19:42:04 +0000 UTCMadhouse definitely drops a lot of anime. HxH, One Punch Man, Kaiji, Death Parade, No Game No Life, Black Lagoon, and pretty anything other than Overlord aren't getting new seasons by Madhouse at least. That said, I'm hopeful for Frieren but you never know.

TBH I liked Frieren but enjoyed Apothecary and its protagonist a lot more, especially since that series doesn't have any weak set of episodes like Frieren does during these 'Chunin exams' that come out of nowhere IMO. I think it's even better and you'll love it!

At the end of her journey with Himmel she still had the mindset that it would be meaningless to take on students since they die so fast. Serie thinks the same way but still takes them on anyways

2024-04-04 18:36:46 +0000 UTCThe reason why they didn't do the interview first is because the 3rd test was gonna be something else, likely another physical exam. Serie only decided to step in and do the interview because too many unqualified people passed the 2nd test thanks to Frieren.

Even though this is their first meeting, it seems Serie knows how Ubel's spell stealing works, so denied her the chance to talk and get to know her, otherwise she'd be walking around with thousands of spells.
