I have a White Lotus tattoo, this is one of my favourite shows of all time, it really was a thing to look forward to when I was struggling through my master's degree. I'd come home and just be absolutely enchanted by it and it'd wash all the stress away.

2024-03-13 16:30:47 +0000 UTCAang's a pacifist monk. Maybe that aspect is also a vehicle for the show not to be as violent but the reason is still deeply rooted in who he is as a person and his background. So it's justified in a clever way and made integral to the story, whatever the case.

I hear many people say this is one of the best written animated shows of all time and I beg to disagree because IMO this is just one of the best written shows ever in general, without that limitation. It may be hard to see at first because it is a little more childish but it starts introducing much more mature topics soon enough and it definitely picks up incredibly. This is my personal favorite and I rank it even higher than FMAB, Arcane and Vinland Saga, and those are no joke for me because I know how you feel about them and I feel the same way, but even so. Give it a chance because I promise the bar is up there. Have fun! π§π«π₯π¨

2024-03-13 07:08:13 +0000 UTCI hear you on the apprehension in the beginning Ange. That was the case for me as well when I first watched it, back in 2015 or so. I saw it as a kid and didn't really think much of it back then, so was apprehensive of watching it again when I kept hearing others keep praising it over the years. It took me years to give it another try, after years of hearing how good it was but me putting it off still. And so I took the plunge. I found it started off slow, but after watching the series, I kept being glued for more. Now I consider it a masterpiece. I personally put it up there with AoT and Vinland Saga. But that's me.

Though it'll most likely affect your feelings toward the TV live action if you choose to watch it afterwards.

2024-03-10 17:17:22 +0000 UTCThe world building and character writing are most definitely peak in this show! Excited to see your journey with this one. The story touches on some heavy themes, as you've already seen examples of in these episodes. War, family loss (Katara and Sokka's mother), needing to grow up despite still being children, etc. I love that Aang expresses his reluctance to be the Avatar, because as you guys mentioned, he's still just a kid. When he says "And how am I supposed to do that?" when told he will need to save the world, it's such an authentic sounding reaction. I really appreciate those short lines of dialogue that are seemingly an obvious reaction, but make character's feel human.
