Sein’s goodbye wasn’t anything spectacular but think of it this way, if they made it super emotional, I would have probably questioned how his party mates ended up loving him so quickly in just 3-4 episodes. He had an impact but I wouldn’t say his party mates knew him all that well. He was the new guy still.

2024-03-10 10:19:02 +0000 UTCI can see why it could feel a bit jarring though. It was disappointing and sudden, but again, sometimes that is how life goes. There hasn't been a season 2 announcement, but the anime is still airing and they generally wait at least til the end of the season to announce future plans. There's enough manga at this point for a second season, though not a third. A lot will likely depend on a) how financially successful the show is (hard to say, it's def. been critically successful but the two don't always correlate) and b) how much they want the director back for Bocchi the Rock s2

2024-03-09 19:34:13 +0000 UTCI don't think Sein's departure had any great subtext or deeper meaning, and that itself was kinda the point of how the scene was done. It's showing how in life meetings and goodbyes can happen unexpectedly and without fanfare. Sometimes you just have to choose a path and walk it, not everything is going to have some epic payoff or meaning to it.

He has a purpose now and he is following it
