Kite is the one who introduced him to the world of Hunters and it's through him that Gon found out that his dad is alive. 2024-03-08 23:21:20 +0000 UTCthe tournament in hunter exam was off screen, zoldyck arc had no real fight, heavenly arena had two big fights and hxh milked kastro's fight with 5 different explanation throughout 10 episodes. after chasing chrollo for so long, when hisoka finally got opportunity to fight him he basically got trolled, Yorknew arc is also full of off screen or not finished fights. Chrollo kills the assassin with indoor fish off screen, his fight vs zoldycks gets cancelled due to their contractors gets killed by illumi, even kurapika vs chrollo never happens even though that was clearly setup to be the final battle of the arc. in greed island arc killua goes to another hunter exam while gon is collecting cards but instead of enjoying more content by watching killua properly pass exam and also watch gon properly collect cards, one happens off screen and other is made complete mockery of... seriously, you shouldnt really be surprised hxh did not show you kaito's fight. togashi simply doesnt know how to deliver to hype he creates so he just off screen it all the time. he is the goat when it comes to not meeting the expectations he sets but people are coping so hard they have to pretend this is a good thing cause it "subverts expectations". just like how he sucks at properly balancing character powers. gon start off strong then turns out to be useless against hanzo in tournament, then he gets powerup during zoldyck arc and clears all the nobodies in heavenly arena but is still useless vs hisoka, then he trains with bisky and gets strong enough to clear the game that people failed to do so for decades but still is useless in one on one combat vs genthru (only wins because of card mechanics, in real fight outside game he would stand no chance)... there is just no consistency with power leveling so its natural to have problems with how things are handled and kite's death is just one of the many on the list :D

Also, the power scaling can also be confusing, Gon and Killua are ridiculously outclassed for the higher level ants at this point. You want them to go in and die and be eaten adding to the King's army? Think back to Greed Island with Scissor guy, Benalt. Gon purposely took the full 2 weeks in order to grow stronger. Same principle here with Knuckle.
