HxH Ep 84-85 REACTIONS!

Comments

Even though Kite's death broke me when I saw it for the first time. I think Ange saying Kite had more to give makes it such an impactful death. Cause sometimes that's how life is. Life doesn't always give us a nice conclusion and that's what makes it hurt even more when we lose someone. I think this is why Togashi is such an amazing writer because sometimes he doesn't care about the satisfying conclusion and he goes for how life sometimes works out.

Gon is a 12 yr old pure kid who was not raised by assassins and is stubborn. Seems pretty normal to me, haha. Love your reaction!

Welcome to the Chimera Ant arc :)

Since C&A already said in the prior episodes that they're expecting Kite to die, I was worried that they'd expect it to happen in ep. 85 because of all the call for them to watch it along with 84. So I'm pleased to see that it still came as a surprise to them. I guess they really didn't expect it to happen this soon. Honestly I get Ange feeling that Kite as a character was wasted/killed off too soon. I was just thinking about this earlier, but his ability is very interesting. Obviously he put the condition that he doesn't get to choose his weapon and that the weapon he rolls won't go away until he uses it so that they'd become more powerful. But he may have put another condition on top of that. Notice that he didn't comment "bad roll" with number 3, and we don't really get a confirmation if it's a good roll or that it's so bad that it left him speechless. He could have put another condition that one of the nine weapons in his slot machine is completely useless and could even be a detriment to him in a fight to make the other weapons even more powerful. #3 may have been that and he was like "crap, how is my luck so bad?" 😅

Exactly. Can't believe they didn't love it lol.

I have to say, on the one hand, I kinda understand being disappointed at not seeing Kite's fight with Pitou but on the other hand, you have to understand that the entire point was to show how much of a threat this new villain is. Also, I can't relate to what Carlie said about the boys' respect for Kite and whether or not it made sense. Of COURSE they're going to respect a dude trained by Gon's father and was the strongest person they've met until Pitou. That makes complete sense in my book. That said, I DO agree with Carlie when it comes to Gon's emotional outburst being completely in character. It's supposed to be frustrating. Sure, Gon was listening to Kite when everything was chill and a complete psychopath nen-user was attacking him... That's easy. But Gon cannot stand seeing the people he cares for getting hurt... let alone a surrogate father figure. This completely makes sense and I'm surprised you're against this. I get the shock and the wish to see his fight but I think the way they handled it was better with hindsight. The shock is important. The fear is important. Carlie's ANGER and Ange's DISGUST are perhaps the MOST important emotions that the author was trying to convey.

Wtf is this comment

The rewind freeze frame is insaneee

Gon & Killua have no idea what they’re getting themselves into.

EdTheAlchemist

You’ll have to see for yourself later on in the arc to see why it’s easily my favorite arc in anime!

Wesley Lambert

U have to trust Togashi with HxH, he is an excellent writer!

Sabrina

Hisoka was hunting Chrollo down, while Chrollo on the run gathering nen abilities to defeat him.

I agree with Carlie, this Arc has taken a horror like route (which stressed me out as well TT) and is incredibly dark. My overall favorite arc is probably Yorknew Arc, but I have to say the story building and story telling in Chimera Ant Arc is top notch and satisfying in the end! Though the ending made me very emotional …. ((And I agree with Ange : this Arc is missing Hisoka.)

Shinya

If we were talking about characters "aura" in 2011, Pitou would be at the top of my list.

Ulysses

Nyow, do you understand? 🤌🪁💀 Kite's roll (#3) was a Wand/Staff/Cane/Baton whatever you want to call it.. . . For those who didn't know - Akira Toriyama - manga author of DragonBall found dead - blood clot in his brain. RIP!

accomplice

He didn’t say “bad roll” 👀

Muza

Yah but this is also before she learns her nen abilities

Antique-Item

Kite’s death was essential to Gon’s character development. It needed to happen Pitou picking Pokkle’s brain is one of the most disturbing scenes I’ve seen in anime. Remember that Gon is 12 years old. You’re correct in thinking that Killua can accurately assess power levels.

Antique-Item

It has happened to Killua before, during the hunter exam when Illumi told him he wasn't capable of having friends. Both times though, Gon was there to pull him out of the despair and rejection. Killua, an ex-assassin, literal killer, is eternally grateful to Gon for those moments. It's very relatable and beautiful.

Gir

Pitou is kinda hot ngl

Toji

Ange: That's sickening!! As he pauses on the decapitated head of Kite. OLOLOLOLOLOLOLO

Mojira

Now imagine if you hadn't watched the first episode of the 1999 version. You'd have seen even less of Kite and Gon's extreme reaction here would have seemed somewhat out of place.

Nic Q

awww Carlie's reaction :( but it's moments like this that give both us and the kids some emotional stakes. also the unexpected Kite's head moment after Gon's inspirational speech broke shonen "rules" which makes it unexpected but not necessarily bad (for me it's the opposite)

Martina

I wouldn't say Pitou didn't break a sweat. She had some visible cuts on her. Kite certainly put up a fight

Nurettin

Kite's influence on our protagonists is MAJOR

zdravko georgiev

Being dead doesn't mean that he can't give to the story anymore. Just wait and see.

zdravko georgiev

This episodes are a masterpiece probably some of the important one building the plot for the ant arc. Togashi is a great writer just trust him :D

Boosted Inferno

About what Ange said, "Kite had a little bit more to give to the story", and be slightly let down by the episode ending and stuff. Since you said for us to might tell you why it is all right. Well, it is hard to say anything without giving any spoilers, so I will just say patience, trust the author.

Arthus Vinícius

Hi guys! It is understandable that you think Kites death is too soon and rushed, the thing is that in the manga they spend more time together, and you get the feeling that Kite is a father figure for Gon, but in the anime they shorten the time spent with him, so it looks like it is a waste of potential for the character

Hodei

Carlie: It wasn't him Ange: NO, IT WAS *rewind* LMAO!! XD

Manuel Eduardo Diaz Cabrera

I love that moment. I think its one of the best moments in anime. to each their own i guess. Sets up so much character development with gon and killua going forward.

Ulysses

Togashi you sick, sick man!
