2024-03-07 22:24:53 +0000 UTCI can't tell you how excited I am for you to watch this show, it is my favorite show all time and is ranked 7th on IMDBs top 250 shows all time. I don't mind setting these huge expectations because I am that confident you will love this show. Season 1 is a lot of setup for the best payoffs ever, that being said season 1 is of course also amazing. I watched atla live as a kid and over 50 times through since and off of any 1 quote I can name the episode name and number it was said in as well as who said it. So you could call me a super fan :) oh and btw the 1st and 2nd episode aired together, even on reruns they were aired back to back so I would recommend watching them in the same sitting if you can. Thanks so much again!!

2024-03-06 21:56:51 +0000 UTCjeez, I'm not saying One Piece is not great before episode 151... arcs were still great even after the live-action (episode 46+) try to watch boldcast, when lindsay continously sobbing in episode 86... and they're blown away at the climax of an arc (episode 126) all praises = absolute banger, from end-to-end it's fckn incredible, best episode so far or the best episode ever, lindsay can't see how that episode can be beaten, etc... just saying that 151 is the episode that someone will sunk real deep into the series

If you do 3 episodes per week like Your Lie in April, then you'll finish MDUD in a month, then you can start Avatar which is a long series. This way you'll appease fans of both series.

When you talk about a subject, you can either just suggest it, or show it head-on. And it's understandable that some people don't want to see certain things head-on. The other is a recent favourite called The Apothecary Diaries, it has historical intrigue, politics, excellent character writing and it is just beautifully animated💮🔎

Since you said you couldn't watch past episode 5, I don't know how you would know about that or you just classify nudity and some touching as an sexual act, which is weird. You can be uncomfortable with that kind of material and it is fine and that's it.

I wouldn't say it has no place in MDUD as we are seeing from the perspective of a teenage boy after all, but because it's used excessively most of it feels unneeded.

I do think the show takes it time to progress the story and narrative but a lot of crazy things does happen in the show for sure. The show is currently on season 3 and the previous 2 seasons are 13 episodes each. So it’s very easy to watch imo my opinion. But I do respect ur opinion cuz some of my friends have said the same as u. I have also read the light novel so ik what’s coming next and it’s epic that’s why I highly recommend

Not every show needs to have a complex, thought-provoking storyline, and each character going through an Eren or Thorfinn arc. Sometimes you just want to enjoy some "plot" and funny, wholesome content to boost your serotonin.

It is a bit slow on a lot of episodes - MDUD is good, the fanservice not sure if carlie would enjoy - Parasyte is good but once the story sinks in it can feel the same throughout the series

I think he’s the kind of character I like in a psychological show/character. The show is rlly good and I recommended this show cuz it’s very different from the other shows they have watched till now. Kaguya sama was a show they typically don’t watch as well but turned out well. But I hear u, I think the character is meant to be polarizing and should be a slow burn

But I just wanted to be clear about the fact that unlike other anime that sexualizes for fan-service, that's not the case with Mushoku. And again, I haven't even mentioned the cultural differences and translation problems that mean some people sometimes misinterpret Mushoku. edit : And to be fair, there are also Mushoku fans who make silly comments to justify or make acceptable Rudeus' behavior. They completely miss the intentions of the author, who clearly presents the behavior as problematic.

Some stories use it as entertainment (which rarely causes controversy, by the way). Other stories show violence because there's a point to it, because it makes narrative sense. The same goes for anything to do with sex. There's nothing wrong with integrating sexualization into a story when there's a point to it. Some stories show a character's violence to valorize them, others show their violence to show their flaws. Rudeus' behavior at the beginning is shocking. It's done to shock, to show the bad sides of the character. There's never any valorization of Rudeus when he acts like this. At the start of Mushoku, Rudeus is shown for what he is: he's a mess. A traumatized, socially/humanely disconnected, morally screwed-up person. Episode 1 ends with Rudeus vowing to do better in his new life. That's the starting point.

I know from experience that Mushoku has some pretty crazy detractors who go so far as to lie about knowing the story just to say it's crap and dissuade others from getting interested. From season 1, Rudeus evolves a lot in terms of relationships with others (including women, that is). Not completely, but he's already come a long way from where he started. A major event triggers another big evolution in season 2. Anyone who has actually read the light novel can't deny the character's incredible change over the course of his new life (his youth is only a small part of his adventure). Bearing in mind that he'll never be the perfect man. None of Mushoku's characters are. It's about those characters who struggle against their flaws, whatever they may be, with successes and failures. Nothing is ever black and white. It's this human struggle that is the main point of this work, through various themes: fatherhood/motherhood, family, death, rejection, sexuality, trust, mourning, the value of life, communication, depression, slavery, love, marriage, war, obligations, royalty, betrayal, etc... Remarkably well written. But it talks about sensitive subjects that some feel shouldn't be talked about...like Rudeus' deviances at the beginning.

I know Avatar is very popular, and maybe it's really good. One day, when I'm in the mood, I'll probably give it a try ;). I give you the same advice: one day, give Mushoku a second chance. The uncomfortable scenes of the first episodes are part of the writing. This man full of trauma and deviances will try to become a better man (which is literally what the Japanese title means); and you don't change overnight. A deeply human story that doesn't hide human flaws. No bad guys, no good guys here, just humans with their qualities and flaws in a harsh world. Many themes are dealt with, some of them very difficult indeed. That's the whole point.

What's more, this one heavily sexualizes 15yo girls, for no narrative reason. I have no problem with that in a story, when it serves an artistic or narrative purpose. But with My Dress Up, it's so random...discomfort guaranteed. Much more so than in the case of controversial anime on this subject, where the narration deals seriously with the subject. My vote goes to Parasyte. (never watched and not very interested in Avatar)

Season 1 is ranked lower in MAL because the MC acts weird for the first 3 episodes but after that it will grow to become one of the most wholesome and cute romcom you’ve watched if you stick through it I bet my life on it I hope it will be in the next polls
