Im pretty sure ive said pride, envy and greed are all inside subaru at this point 😆 i just keep forgetting it was Pride that beatlejuice could smell. Ive gotta remember that one. Whether true or false, curious where they got that idea from. Also @ange, So there's the WITCHES, there's their Archbishops that lead their CULTS/supporters, and then there are creations like the Whale of Gluttony. I think what you are remembering from before that made you talk about "whale=gluttony" is a conversation in the past about "There are 3 known big mabeasts created by the witch of gluttony and they consume and feed." You've met the whale so far, and you've met the Black Serpent in Emilia's OVA (puck referred to it as the black water serpent of gluttony), which they also mentioned if i recall correctly, but I cannot remembered if they mentionned what the third legendary mabeast that witch of gluttony created, so i wont say what it is. That being said, i did catch something in your emilia frozen bodns OVA that I missed before: Puck is called the Beast of the End, and the Fire pegasus mediator monologuer (i'm not gonna even bother trying to spell his name), that justicar great spirit said "So here you are, one of hte 4 contaminants of this world, the Beast of the End", and puck didnt like that name, and i actually never noticed that puck was called 1 of 4 , and a contaminant no less, probably because he has the ability to try to end the world as we saw in one subaru's loops.... but i actually don't know if he's considered a contaminent in the same category as the 3 of gluttony's mabeasts from the perspective of fire pegasus, and what i mean is that puck's the beast of the end, i.e the end of the world, i.e destroy the world, and the 3 legendary mabeasts like the whale and black serpent also kinda destroy the world in their presence, and fire pegasus is all about "saving the world" so maybe thats where this hatred stems from? i don't know, i'm just throwing random tinfoil hat theories.

2024-02-19 19:47:17 +0000 UTCThe reason Subaru falls back into his self hating tendencies is due to a few things First. Subaru gained all his confidence through Rem. She was the only one who he felt really believed in the true him to be a hero so losing that person who trusted him that way hurts. Two, Subaru’s development from being down bad to being a hero at the end of S1 was only in a few days so he hasn’t had time to really develop into loving himself or who he wants to be Three, Subaru by this point is in love with Rem. Losing her is akin to losing Emilia. So his emotions losing Rem, who he calls himself her hero and now loves deeply. It’s the worst thing that could’ve happened. He saved Emilia and did all those things at the end of season 1. At this moment to him if rem is gone then whatever he did prior means nothing. Leading to the strong self hate again.

The witch of ENVY is the one associated to Subaru as far as we can tell, not Greed. The bishop of Greed is Regulus. Subaru has no indirect association like that.

2024-02-19 19:05:11 +0000 UTCFun fact about this season: You'll see that Season 2 episodes are longer than normal anime episodes. OPs and EDs also play just a couple times during the whole season. That's because White Fox, the studio, was tasked by the producer with adapting the whole next arc (which is one of the longest in all Re:Zero) in the entirety of season 2. Not wanting to half ass the season, White Fox cut a lot of commercials time from their slots on air, basically losing quite a bit of money just to MAKE Re:Zero season 2 like they wanted to. The season turned out so amazing, though, thet Re:Zero sold a boat load of merch following the air of season 2, so much that now, with no new Re:Zero content currently available, the producer is down like 35% on profits in comparison of when it was on air. Sometimes prioritzing quality pays back! :D

It seems they're just using context to identify one of these entities when they call them "gluttony", which is not a name or a title but a sin. Also, greed =/= envy
