The whole "Kousei and Nagi fighting with the piano" portion of the duet was a direct call back to when Kousei and Kaori played together. Kousei did it for Nagi sure, but also did it to remind Kaori of the time they played.

2024-02-18 01:28:38 +0000 UTCjust to add some salt to the woundπΊ, the novel that they're constantly referencing (the double suicide quote) features a girl that is sick and a boy who plays the piano that is in love with her. In the novel he plays ravel for her, ravel is a very famous composer, he has a piece called "pavane for a dead princess", so when kousei says "you're not a princess, i'm not gonna play ravel for you" he's implying that she's not going to die. kaori seems to have a hard time expressing her feelings so she's letting the novel speak for her (in my opinion) but i'm glad that kousei is now in a better place to help her and let her know that her story could have a different ending and that she should still dream and long for what makes her happy, music. i love kousei's growth so much
