It's like if you jump into Titanfall 2 right now for the first time, you're going to get bodied for a long time, slowly getting better, but never realizing how much better you are because you're playing against monsters until you play against someone starting for the first time themselves and then YOU end up destroying them.

It will also be hard to pick it out while watching this show because it has a "Show don't tell" approach to things and do not spoonfeed information a lot.

Notice how the first episode, we would move forward 50 years from one scene to the next. Then in the second episode, 4 years past, then 6 months, then 3 months.... Her perspective is slowing down as she comes to appreciate the time she has with her companions.

When Carlie was reading and as soon as she read Aureole I paused the video and immediately SMH and said Carlie better not effing say it. @ 7:25 lol Carlie on point. @ 22:45 Holy crap, upon this rewatch I finally realize why Heiter is afraid of dying now. Because if he did, Fern would have no one to look after her. I had him pegged as shady and suspicious upon first watch. Carlie has good intuition here for not doubting Heiter, even at the ending discussion. Yeah the OST is by Evan Call. He did the OST for Violet Evergarden as well :) Frieren is also a familiar Voice Actor. She was in Mob Psycho and Spy x Family.... guess who.

2024-02-11 11:59:20 +0000 UTCI think the reason why you guys found Stark’s voice familiar is because his VA’s voice(Kobayashi Chiaki) is a bit similar to the one who voiced Tsukishima from Haikyuu, which is Uchiyama Koki. Their voices could sometimes be hard to differentiate when both are speaking in a calmer tone.

I love the sibling bickering that Fern and Stark have, so I would kind of feel really uncomfortable if they pursued a romantic relationship (I haven't seen anyone share this opinion yet, so I might just be the odd one out). I just really love the idea of pursuing an adventure tale without the need for any romance and it still being entertaining!

If she had lived the way a normal elf usually does, she would soon forget all about Himmel and the gang. It was only because of the conscious choice she makes to get out of her shell and experience the world in the way that her friends would've wanted her to that she was able to remember them all the more dearly.

And now, we leave off with our first cliff hanger 😭 Weird and a bit of a depressing way to relate elves and their aging, but I use the analogy of humans and animals. My dog lived to be 14y/o before passing and that was when I was still in my teens. While I cherish the memories, it was so long ago that I start forgetting trivial moments (like daily walks), while still remembering other random tidbits. I wonder if it's like that for Frieren, but on a grander scale due to their life span. The fact that a mere 10 year adventure for Frieren left such a heavy imprint on her life is crazy to think about. It goes to show just how great the rest of the party were and how all of them have that larger-than-life characteristic. As for VA facts, not a lot of voice actors that you guys are too familiar with, aside from Frieren. I couldnt imagine just refusing to take in all the other amazing stories of this medium just because its different…thats a sad way of living 😅

Esp. because as far as I know, their only exposure to the fantasy genre are; The Lords of the Rings movies, The Witcher Netflix, and Game of Thrones show. In The Lord of the Rings movies, they didn't really explain the lifespan of dwarves, and as for the two latter shows, they're more like dark fantasy than high fantasy, and their depiction of dwarves are more just like normal humans with dwarfism.

Dwarves don't live as long as elves though but it's implied they live longer than humans from the dialogue so far. They will clarify the lifespan for different races in future episodes so i won't spoil anything.

A surprising amount of people unfortunately view AoT as an edgy show with incredible twists, well realized dark moments, and crazy action / spectacle. They see hype, hype, and hype. Nothing more. As they disregard the fragile, beautiful, tragic story and themes underlying that series, they find themselves incapable of appreciating other amazing stories with similar depth simply because it lacks the violence or edginess that they’re accustomed to. People who can’t appreciate the likes of AoT and Vinland Saga alongside the likes of Frieren or Haikyuu or Champloo are a mystery to me.

He's a Dúnedain, and they live long, while the rest of the "normal humans" in The Lord of the Rings universe seem to have a lifespan as normal people in our own world. I'm not sure, but it seems like the humans in the Frieren universe have the same "normal human" lifespan as us.

Elves are usually depicted as immortal even (not sure if that's the same in Frieren), and dwarves live for hundreds of years. Gimli in The Lord of the Rings was 139 years old for example. That's why Frieren in episode 4 said "Even If I taught them (apprentice), they'd die in no time. My adventure with you wasn't even one-hundredth of my life. You must understand that, Eisen"

If Fern didn't complain to Frieren when they were looking for the blue weed flower, they could have spent this whole season there looking for it. That's why Fern gets pouty with Frieren about time Flamme was human. The only elf we have met so far is Frieren. We don't know exactly how old she is , but we now know that she is over 1,000 years old, and they defeated The Demon King in or near his castle

Theoretically, Heiter, being a priest who heals has extended his life past normal human years that's why he has aged better than Himmel did. And Eisen is a Dwarf who ages slower than Humans but faster than Elves. Hope this helps!

The animation studio is Mad House, they worked on One Punch Man Season 1 Also the VA for Frieren is the same as Anya (but her non-childish voice). VA for Himmel is the same as Noya (his soft-spoken side). Stark’s VA is the same as Askeladd.

This anime is being done by Studio Madhouse, and the staff working on this is their best lineup of members in years. They got the team that animated S1 of One Punch Man return to animate this series. You may also see really cool similarities in framing, and shot composition to Bocchi The Rock, as both series have the same director.
