Was it just me or was Ange doing some SERIOUS misreading of the subtext of episode 16? I think they missed when Nagi was trying to smash Kousei's hands in between the top of the piano at the beginning of the episode. Seto/Hiroko noticed that and that's why she said "If you try to hurt Kousei I'll kill you." Props for noticing the color pallette change, though! That's a subtle one.

2024-02-22 11:51:52 +0000 UTCyup i heard that. i thought it was rain at first when i watched it the first time but when watching it here, because ange is an audiophile, i was able to notice the transition from crowd cheering live to crowd cheering overlap while we pan to kaori. So i wasn't sure if it's supposed to be both, or one or the other, but i didnt wanna dwell on it :D edit: ps i chuckled at the bad speakers part.

2024-02-12 06:51:23 +0000 UTCThis show has such great rewatch ability I never realized. In ep 16 Kaori straight up admits she got out the hospital and waited for Kousei despite earlier lying and saying she was waiting for watari. I never caught that and am only realizing this now. Along with many other things I wonβt point out until later, this show has so many hidden details to uncover upon watching it a second or third time even.

2024-02-11 18:19:10 +0000 UTCNot a spoiler: if you pay good attention to the end, you can see her with her phone, listening to something that sounds like a crowd clapping (through admittedly pretty bad speakers)

2024-02-11 18:07:33 +0000 UTCOr 1/2/2 or something. I'd prefer 2/3 too though, this would be a good split imo. Watching the last episode with a week break inbetween would be a massive shame.

2024-02-11 18:04:31 +0000 UTCBy the way, I watched the rest of the show again yesterday and I know that you said that you have to mute the music sometimes because you're having issues with the copyright system. Since it's such a massive part of the show, would it be possible to do the patreon upload on streamable with sound and only remove it for YouTube or something? Or do you get issues on streamable too? It really makes the show so much better if you can hear the sound. Alternatively (other creators do it like that) I'd be fine with you adding a timestamp and no video so I can watch it on one screen and your reaction on the other. Missing out on the full experience would be so sad :(

2024-02-11 18:02:50 +0000 UTC@ange, @carlie. so ya'll didn't call out something specific, i'm sure you noticed it but you were too emotional to call it out : in the scene before kaori tells him about the whole double sepuko thing.. even before the show started flickering back and forth between kaori and kousei's mother, in the scene that kousei walks up to kaori, kaori's EYES were hidden, just like how he remembers his mother. He immediately is seeing how kaori's no longer looking at the sky "with sparkles in her eyes" but she's more looking down and he can't tell from her face what she's feling as he cannot see her eyes. Then fast forward a few moments later, when kaori lost her temper at kousei, it also was mirroring a bit kousei's mom in terms of "YOU HAVE TO KEEP PRACTICING, YOU CANT STOP, THERE'S NOT ENOUGH TIME, YOU HAVE TO KEEP PRACTICING WHILE YOU STILL C...." and then she stopped herself because she realized she was projecting. Because her hands and muscles are not answering to her, she's realizing that she can't play her violin anymore, she can't practice, HER time snuck past her and she's seeing Kousei "wasting his time" from her perspective. And while this could be a nod to how his mother was also forcing kousei to train because her time was running out, like you said, but it's also something else: She kept telling kousei that she's playing her music so that she can create memories in people that will bind to them, bond to them, so that they'll never forget her"... which is now contrasted by the realization that she CANT play her music anymore, and she CANT make them remember her through her music, so that's why started talking afterwards that "are you going to forget? maybe you should forget, maybe we should never have met, everyone will forget". And this is just my theory but i think kousei's doing this performance as a way to SHOW HER, that he wont forget, and not only that, but as long as HE plays, NO ONE can forget her, because his playing is inspired by her, he's basically playing HER music on behalf, because she can't play her music herself, and i think it's a callback to episode 13, when he was playing FOR her, and asking if his music is going to reach her. And since he didn't know what to say in WORDS, as he talked to nagi, he realized maybe what he can't say in words to her and sound convincing, maybe the only way is to PLAY IT for her, music transcending the need for words... What he's doing right now is a culmination of all those B-plotlines, between him and tsubaki, watari, nagi, his teach, his mother, and kaori: if you go back and rewatch their conversations, he picked up a small piece of advice from each, and combined all of them together... which is interesting to me because i just realized that the next episode is called "Hearts come together", so i'm HOPING that my theory is correct. Again, I don't remember this show, it was a rough show for me because of my own memories when i watched with someone, so this is just speculation, but i think that's what I'd be feeling personally.

2024-02-11 15:39:46 +0000 UTCI actually do not remember the next few episodes so I'm only speculating, but when Kousei asked Watari for a favor, my first instinct was that he asked him to bring Kaori to watch the show on a wheel chair or something (which would be an very very VERY on-the-nose mirroring of how kaori and his mother would be sitting in "that special spot" to watch him play. Or at least live stream it for her, although i'm not sure how old this show is and how prevalent streaming would have been the time.

2024-02-11 15:39:35 +0000 UTCGOD. I wish we could have the last 5 episodes uploaded in bulk. I'd be so happy but sad at the same time because the show would be over and I've thoroughly enjoyed watching it with a new mindset with you 2.

2024-02-10 16:37:00 +0000 UTCI very vaguely mentioned the book she quoted in a previous video. It's called the Alliance of the 15s, a somewhat famous Japanese novel that's never been translated to English. It's the book Kaori saw that Kousei had take out of the library. https://www.novelupdates.com/series/alliance-of-the-15s/

2024-02-10 13:16:09 +0000 UTCWhat you were trying to remember at the end of episode 16 that kaori said with the fireflies i think you were thinking about kousei saying "i have you" and then her saying "i wont always be around"

2024-02-10 13:13:21 +0000 UTCOhh babyyy it's YLIA time again. Let's get into it!
Maximilian Sauer
2024-02-10 12:30:14 +0000 UTCJust a quick note: when you hear Kousei make a reference to Ravel or princess and how he doesn't want to hear or play it, he's referring to a piece called "Pavane pour une infante dΓ©funte". Well, just listen to it and you'll understand.
