Haikyuu 4x13, 4x14, 4x15 & 4x16 FULL REACTIONS!

I'd like to take a second to explain why Kanoka said that she got her heart broken for real. After the events of that night when Tanaka let slip that he had feelings for someone else, Kanoka was surprised but hadn't given up yet (the next day, her bestie commented that Tanaka is just a guy after all, so if she'd kept attacking she'd eventually win him over). But the reason Kanoka fell in love with Tanaka to begin with is because of his persistent and "single-minded" focus, which she got reminded of via that cross shot. Once Tanaka is after something, he'd never give up on it, and the unspoken part is that he'd have that same perseverance whether his objective is a volleyball technique or a love interest in life. That's why she knew that there was no chance for her to change his mind; he would never give up on Shimizu given the kind of guy he is.

Full-circle moment for us Haikyuu fans here: I remember when S1 Ange hoped for a Tanaka-dedicated episode. I feel like you guys are one of the few reactors invested in the character-side of the show, and Haikyuu is a show that really pays-off when you're invested in the journey.

Good call Ange, not a lot keep track that Tanaka has been working on that sharp cross spike since he saw Bokuto do it in the middle of season 2's training arc. To see him be the very embodiment of perseverance, his advice to his childhood friend of "just keep trying until you can" being fully actualized on SET POINT is one of my favorite moments of all anime.

it is as he said it just before the cross shot. "as long as i keep trying until i can do it i can actually do it!" it is absolute focus and complete loyalty to single goal without any chance of giving up. whether it is sport or something else nothing can change tanaka mind and he will never give up. that is true for his cross shot he kept trying ever since he saw bokuto do it, and it is true for his love life too

so kanoka saying "i think i really did get my heart broken" was her accepting that she has no chance with tanaka. She has cruch on him and she was rejected night before (when her cousin gave her lucky charm) and she told her cousin even back then that she might got her heart broken but since that moment her friend kept encouraging her to fight for him so she had some hopes up. But after seeing that cross shot and seeing his performance she remembered how persistent and straightforward tanaka is so she accepted her fate cause she knew if tanaka says he has his eyes on someone else that means there is nothing in the world that can take his mind off of it. essentially she knew then and there that she had no chance with tanaka so she really got her heart broken

Tanaka literally had a super saiyan, all eyes on me type moment which I love because it truly reminds you the players in Karasuno are not just goated because they are our main players but they can hit the zone in a tense moment. Still one of the top 10 moments in the series that made me teary eyed looking at Saeko neesan's pride for her brother

I don't know if anyone has already mentioned it, but you were asking what Asahi was doing before their match in the first eposide. He was drawing the kanji for "person" on his hand because in Japanese superstition it's meant to help with your nerves to write person on your palm and then "eat" the person.

And the Tanaka episode just hits ALL the feels, making me bawl my eyes out everytime…first I'm crying because I'm heartbroken seeing him down on himself like that, which is so relatable, then I'm crying because I'm so happy and proud of him for not giving up and finally making the cut shot work during set point, then I'm crying because I'm sad for Kanoka, because she really did get her heart broken😭 rollercoaster of emotions that one😆 That beautiful ost, when Tanaka does his cut shot, is essentially a slowed down, reorchestrated version of the ost "Omnivorous", which, if I remember correctly, first played during the traning camp in season 2 with Nekoma and Fukurodani. The same training camp where Tanaka first saw Bokuto doing that cut shot. So even musically it came full circle. Edit: I was wrong, the ost is literally played in the first ep of season 2😂 But the title of the song refers to the crows being omnivorous, and Karasuno taking techniques from every team and making them their own, which mostly happens during that training camp, so still full circle🤣🤣

(Setter) The grey haired twins name is Osamu, Samu for short. (Opposite hitter) Oh man the Shimada Yamaguchi moment really came out of nowhere. Ok so just for clarification, the middle blocker that Hinata thought of was not Kindachi but Mattsun (Matsukawa Issei) who is a player on Seijo that is always there but was NEVER actually highlighted except for that 2 minutes in which he told his team that he would route Hinata's hit to the Libero. Seijo has a group of 4 third years that are all really close.. Oikawa and Iwaizumi and then Mattsun and Maki (Matsukawa and Hanamaki) ... I think they get more highlight in the Manga.

I don't know if you guys remember but during an episode Bokuto asked Akaashi if they can copy the werido quick...Akaashi responded "we should never try that" implying it's almost impossible to copy it because it takes a very talented, precise setter to do it. But now you see Miya Atsumu copy it after seeing it only once in person.....it kind of gives you a little taste of how much of a beast Miya Atsumu really is 🐐

When Kanoka said "straightforward and honest" literally translated from the word "(massugu)" but in Japanese also have a meaning for persistence, focus and loyal on one thing no matter what. So, in the last play sequence Tanaka was trying over and over no matter what happened, that would mean he won't give up on someone he likes no matter what. Many people missed this point because of the literal translation, I guess

i cry EVERY single time i rewatch episode 16. i love tanaka so much, my absolute favorite haikyuu character and possibly my favorite anime character of all time (at the very least, he’s top 3 with greedling from fmab & nanami from jjk). i admire him so much. i wish my own depressive episodes were that easy to get over 😂 what makes tanaka so great is how genuine he is. when he says something, you know he means it. and although he isn’t exceptionally skilled in anything specific like a lot of the other players we’ve seen, he still tries his best every single time.
