I would agree to an extent. The murder mystery aspect of the first half was where the show excelled. Once the mystery is revealed, the second half falls into a shounen mind-game show. At least the show had a conclusive ending.

The song played at the end of 23 is actually sung by Emilia's Voice actress. Rem sang it in episode 18 as well.

To clarify, being an archbishop of a given sin does not mean they have that witch within them. In fact, a sin archbishop may possibly have no connection to that sin's corresponding witch whatsoever. Can't go into details on why for obvious spoiler reasons. But essentially, if your theory is correct and subaru is in fact pride, that does not mean he has the witch of pride within him. He may, and you're free to theorize if he has pride, envy, or some other witch inside him, but being the pride archbishop does not guarantee that. Similarly, Betelgeuse also does not have the witch of sloth, the same for any other archbishops.

It’s also why Rem goes so bat shit crazy in arc 2. His stench was so strong that she could not perceive him as anything other than an overwhelmingly evil presence that needed to be eliminated. Now knowing just how strong the smell is does this become more clear. He has that much power and presence to those who can sense it and the way he can attract Mabeast so easily too. Pretty much everything else you said is correct and I hope they read it because it explains a lot of why Betelgeuse keeps calling Himself that in different bodies. He’s a spirit that can body hop. I think we probably know that Subaru is not an archbishop but if he wanted to be he could be and yeah RBD is an OP power but especially if you’re someone like Subaru you gotta have mental super powers to be able to overcome its flaw

The Betelgeuse stuff is revealed in the light novel in a moment that you're probably very familiar with in season 2. In that same moment the spirit stuff gets lightly mentioned but that's it. It would be very strange to bring it out in future seasons. As for the witch stuff I'm just connecting dots using the dialogues that they've seen until now in the show, basically the interactions between Subaru and Betleguese, the dialogue of the first finger in episode 22 and the Betty thing of "in this world there's only one witch". I'm not even sure that all that is written there is correct, but it's the safest assumption with what we have until now. C&A have probably no time to rewatch dialogues in previous episodes so maybe this helps them.

I'm not sure how you can be certain that none of this will be mentioned in the anime later. Season 3 hasn't even aired yet, and the anime is far behind the novels. However, even if stuff doesn't get explained, Carlie + Ange are only on S1 right now. They have no way of knowing what will and won't be explained (i.e. this kinda interferes with the "blindness" in their blind reactions; I love hearing them theorize). The moment from Ep. 18 probably won't be explained, I agree, but I'm not so sure about the rest. While I haven't read the light novels, I have watched a few "cut content" videos, and I have to assume that some of it will be revealed in future seasons.

What I understood from the end of episode 23, the reason why Subaru wants to die quickly is not that he won't be himself anymore even after going back in time if his body is taken over by Betelgeuse, but that if he isn't killed right now he won't actually go back in time since his body didn't die. Betelgeuse might somehow escape and stay alive for who knows how long, maybe decades even. But you guys might be right, I honestly dk

Ending of 23 still gives me chills. Especially, after season 2. Such a wild scene I was left shocked instead of emotional the first time watching.

After finishing Re:Zero, you should strongly consider checking out “Summertime Rendering”. If you enjoyed the murder mystery aspect. Lots of theory crafting discussions. It’s a completed 25 episode series that’s very underrated. Sadly it isn’t very popular but something to consider for Patreon exclusive in the future.

Ending of episode 23 is so wild as soon as Carlie said “is his brain trembling” I just got a big smile on my face knowing what’s about to happen. But here’s some food for thought no spoilers. In episode 18 at the beginning when Subaru is being frozen by puck after he stomps Betelgeuse. Notice how Subaru starts menacingly laughing as if he’s gone insane when he’s about to die. Now back here he’s doing the same thing but we know it’s cuz Betelgeuse took over. Might’ve been a bit of foreshadowing…..
