Yes, the king is about to return. The thing with Kageyama this episode is he's confused. People that he admire and respect are pulling him in different directions. Oikawa tells him one thing, Atsumu, in a way, is saying the opposite. Oikawa made him question if he was giving the toss that his spikers want, so he has been accommodating them. Oikawa, Suga, Ukai, and even Ennoshita have been hammering to him the importance of him adjusting to his spikers and giving them the toss they want. We saw him remembering Suga's advise on Asahi's favorite set and they showed in one of their training episodes how he asked Asahi's input and requested to practice the set 10x. We also saw Tsukki complaining how he wanted a consistent set so he can make his own decision on how to spike, and Kageyama did what he asked. I haven't read the manga and Oikawa stans would probably take my head off, but that's Oikawa's method. We saw him in the show how he had a hard time synching with Kindaichi at first and instead of asking Kindaichi to change the way he hits, Oikawa asked him to do the same thing and he was the one who adjusted his sets. Oikawa knows his team's strength and weakness so he sets to them according to their strength. We didn't see him push his players beyond their capability. He can bring out 100% of his spiker's ability, but not beyond. So I guess in a way, it proves Ushijima is right. Aside from Oikawa, other Seijoh players are weak, if their 100% is not good enough to defeat Shiratorizawa. Now that they are facing a stronger Iron Wall, we see Kageyama starting to get pissed off because he's giving the sets his spikers want but they are not scoring. Their team needs to adjust to their opponents in order to win. Kageyama has been known for his excellent game sense and sending the ball to the place where he believes they have the best chance of scoring. But if his spikers could not reach high enough or go fast enough, or he can't send the set to the player who's strong enough to break through the blocks, they would lose. What they need is to go out of their comfort zone and give more than 100%. So Ange is right. The king is about to return. The rest of the team needs to be pushed further so they can improve and beat stronger teams. And Kageyama saw how the best spikers, best middleblockers, best libero, and best setter in the nation, so the next step would be to push themselves to the next level. I'm just realising now that Atsumu probably expects Kageyama to be more like him and is disappointed that he's very accommodating to his spikers that's why he called him a goody two-shoes and advised that he'd be better off as a spiker. He probably thought he doesn't have what it takes to be a good control tower, since he's basically relinquishing his control to the spikers. He'd be sorry once he finds out that there's a king buried under the goody two-shoes. 😂😂😂

I read the goody two shoes thing as kageyama is limiting himself by only doing sets that his team can hit. They're good but they don't match what he can really do. Kageyama is clearly at a higher level than his time so it seems like the team will have to be forced to grow to accommodate.

When the time they go pro volleyball, ushijima actually had flashback on hinata's question, because he literally pulled it off on him in that pro match. "when you're receiving the ball, what are you thinking?" Ushijima: The next attack.

I like that you were very understanding of where Kageyama was at. A lot of people tend to think he's being unreasonable, but a young prodigy like Kageyama with poor communication skills can be difficult for exactly this reason. Kageyama is genuinely one of the best setters in the country at 15/16. Playing at the national level with other prodigies gives him an environment where he can flourish, surrounded by other excellent players who can match him. There's something amazing about playing with and against people just as good as you. So it can be an uncomfortable "back down to earth" moment where he's back with his usual teammates who, to be brutally honest, aren't as good as future Olympics-level players. After feeling free, he probably feels inhibited now. Not to say he's doing the right thing by being abrasive about it, but it's a tough spot for him.

The thing about Kags is that his talents level is different, "the genius". Before, he's frustrated that no one can catch up with him and thus becomes "The Tyrant King". Then, at Karasuno he tries to accommodate to the players' level with his skills, it's a habit he brings to the Youth Camp, and earns the "Goody Two Shoes" instead. He just wants to be the best setter, and that's why it eats at him. The difference between the levels of talent, and how to best deal with that gap has always been his biggest challenge.

Set up episodes! The story is just planting narrative bombs everywhere and its difficult to steer your theories without giving too much away. Although important reminder of what asahi said how he has "a few things to try out" when ange thought kags sureness was conflated with the idea that he might have grown too accustomed to a higher level--forgetting how to play with karasuno. Beyond that, ange's reads are impressive One thing for sure tho; a confused resting bitchface makes everyone think kags is pissed 😆

Ange's goodie to shoe's guess is actually really good. They'll explain it in more detail soon don't worry. Also, it's really easy to miss but the guy who was sentimental about wishing Kageyama good luck at Nationals is one of the players from Shinzen Acadamy, one of the schools at the Nekoma training camps, so he's sort of known Kageyama for 6 months and he's seen how much Karasuno has grown since the first Nekoma training camp. That's why he was happy to see a familiar face at this training camp filled with strangers and always ate lunch with Kageyama.

The "Goody Two-Shoes" thing and how it is affecting Kageyama is supposed to be confusing. Just give it time, it will make sense, it's actually incredibly well written once you see it as a whole.

Kageyama is hesitating because back when he was playing at a higher standards than his teammates, he was called the King. But when he went to play with really good players, he was called the Goody-Two-Shoes. Boy's mad confused about how to be a good setter atm.

It'll explain the "goody two shoes" comment later. Also, that isn't a direct translation, so I think that's confusing you both a bit haha. No worries, the context is all there to parse it out, but it pretty much directly explains it in a later episode.

Loved the discussion in ep 6. The thing about Hinata telling Tsukki that he hit the ball at a higher point when Kogane was setting for him and Kageyama getting pissed about it, I won't say much, but remember the higher, the better😁 Soo…the little conversaation with Ukai and Kageyama… I don't speak Japanese or anything so I might be wrong on that, but sometimes it feels to me like the subtitles aren't really complete or they mix up words and just throw them together somehow. In the manga what Ukai was telling Kageyama when asked about being a goody-two shoes is "There is no better set than the one that's easiest for your hitter to hit. Gramps harps on me about that all the time. I think that about sums it up. On that front, at least, you don't have anything to worry about." And then it's kind of implied that the conversation might not be over. The translation in the anime are almost the same but the difference is the "on that front, at least", that tells me that there IS something that needs to change or improve. (The audience just dosn't know what yet). I feel like the subs in the anime just don't really convey that. It's like "…You ARE giving them sets that are easy to hit, so no reason to hesitate" which feels like he's telling him to just keep doing what he's already doing. Or maybe I'm just too stupid and completely wrong, and the translation in the anime is just how it's supposed to be, someone please tell me😆 Other than that I'm not gonna say any more about Kageyama the goody-two shoes, you'll see for yourselves😆 I love the next episodes!!

I sympathize a lot with Kageyama's former teammates. When you got a relationship with someone for 3 years and you can't make it work, but he turns around and begins adapting his behavior and working on their toxic traits, it eats at you. You start wondering "damn, was it me? Could I have done something different? Did I exhaust all options?" It's no surprise they're still carrying that baggage.

I’d actually say the animation for hoshiumi’s jump in episode 4 was very fluid and dynamic, and intentionally so. I’m pretty sure most of the complaints about animation are referring to the second half of season 4, because that was the part impacted by the pandemic. Most complaints in the first half are about people preferring the old art style

I liked the ballboy arc, espescially ep 4, alot the first time i watched it, but on the rewatch after finishing the series it actually made me cry a little, it's amazing. Yeeeesss Miya Atsumu!!! One of my top 3, I love him so much!! Also I recommend remembering him by his first name Atsumu, since almost no one calls him Miya, it will make life easier for you later on😄 Hinatas and Kageyamas reunion is always so funny, even if they're friends and all some things just never change, and I love it. Also I loved that you remembered that Tanaka key moment, it was such a nice callback to season one.

I find the mid episode scene kind of metaphorical. The baby crow (Hinata) tried to reach the top fast but ended up falling the first time so the second time you can see the crow going up slowly without falling. Reminds me of Takada sensi when he talked about proper steps and fundamentals which is exactly what Hinata is learning in the training arc 😊

It's not just hot water, it is shochu with hot water. It's a common way to drink it. It's like 30% ABV so if you drink it straight you'll get blasted pretty quick, so you mix it with hot water to water it down but it also opens up some of the flavor as well.
