I’ve always been told to read SL in the past but never got to it. Figured I’d wait til the first ep of the anime to drop and decide if I’d dive into it. Then to my surprise, you guys actually did a reaction to the series and that motivated me to read the manhwa. I read all 200 chapters within the last week and my goodness, we’re all in for a treat. One of the best stories I’ve read in awhile and I can’t wait for your guys’ reactions on this series!

I read all of solo leveling as it was coming out and I know exactly why people are hyped for it and rightfully so. When the internet is screaming so loudly about one anime for the season, I just want to vouch for other great things that are coming out in other genres that Carlie and Ange have also watched and enjoyed.

2024-01-08 20:37:04 +0000 UTCWell, just bear in mind that these two really enjoy battle shonen/seinen. Quality story telling isn't exclusive to any single genre either. Shonen typically has a pretty formulaic approach to storytelling, but that doesn't define a poorly written anime. There's a reason that clichés and tropes exist - there's an audience that enjoys those things. Carlie and Ange both really enjoy these kinds of shows, not that they don't enjoy other genres, shonen is just seemingly the most enjoyable to them. I don't blame them either, shonen goes so damn hard sometimes!

Apothecary diaries is set in imperial china about an apothecary girl. Sign of affection is a romance including a deaf girl who signs.

Usually, I don't enjoy power fantasy as much as I enjoy more drama oriented stories. but Solo Leveling is an exception. The source material is incredible, and I had SUCH a blast with it! Pleasant surprise. 👍 About the main character, it was mentioned right at the beginning of the episode, but you might have missed it. If you "awaken" as a hunter and your magical power gets measured (as was shown when ppl got assigned ranks), you will never get stronger. Meaning, the amount of power you awaken with is the amount of power you will have forever. You can try to improve your stats somewhat with better equipment but if you are an E-Rank after your awakening you will always remain an E-Rank no amount of Armour and weaponry can change that. Your rank will even determine what gates/dungeons you can enter. If I remember correctly every rank of gate as a prerequisite of the amount and rank of hunters are allowed/required to enter. I'm sure more details will come up later on. I really love the Manhwa. Even if the plot is not the most complicated, it is very enjoyable and the art of the webtoon is amazing. Unfortunatly Dubu, the artist who drew the Manhwa (which is actually based on a light novel), died a few years back. If you get the chance, try to read some of the chapters online. The panels and the art and the colors are incredible. Maybe wait for more action before reading, since the more action to more impressive the composition of the panels. I hope you'll enjoy the show and I'm keeping my fingers crossed they did a good job adapting it.

If I had to describe the manwha in one word, this would be « epic ». The Artwork is next level. Hopefully A1 does justice to Solo Leveling even though the art will never get close to the manwha.
