Absolutely right, when I was watching this last 3-4-5 episodes, I didn't even wanted to keep watching, because it was just sadness, and sadness, but I kept going and don't regret it hahahah

So she chose to kill someone he cares about deeply to keep his mouth shut. Also, we have to remember that Betelguese keeps referring to "sloth." Not jealousy. Not envy. But you finally figured out the contract thing with emilia and figured out who the "Dog b*tch" is ? hahaha I'm surprised you didn't recognize the voice acting immediately!!! And yeah, every time emilia died, something bad happened, as you saw. And now you see at the end of it who just dropped in when the witche's cult tried to mess with his daughter!

2024-01-08 02:39:57 +0000 UTCOk, small recap about the creepy hand smoke thing that caresses Subaru's heart (at least what we know until now) First of all, the colors of the hands are clear indication that these things have something to do with the Jealous witch. Her cultists robes have the same colors and Betelgeuse's Unseen Hand that "she gifted him" have the same color, too. It only activates when Subaru is trying to tell someone about Return by Death and when he does that the smell of the witch on him intesifies (I think Rem clearly states it one time, but just think about the fact that in the forest he shouts about Return by death to lure the mabeasts to him, that's a pretty clear sign about the smell intensifying). When he uses it for the first time he says that he felt agonizing pain, he didn't die, but the "fear was engraved in him" So... the goal is never to kill him. It's to punish him. It's to let him know that he can't say that or something bad will happen. The first time the witch only needed to scare the shit out of him with the pain, but now Subaru is too broken. He has suffered so much that pain would not have been punishment enough. He basically said "to hell if I die, I need to say this" so what punishment would have been to kill him? The "best" thing would have been to kill someone near him that he loved very much to let him live with the knowledge that HE killed Emilia because he disobeyed the rule.

It’s very easy to get frustrated with how things are going. It’s supposed to be that way tbf. Literally just L after L for Subaru and it somehow gets worse and worse. Just in this loop, Emilia dies in his arms, Otto pushes him out to get eaten by the whale, Rem sacrifices herself and is forgotten by everyone. Then we get more happy time with Betelgeuse 😁. Brutal

Puck is a spirit, so safe to say he's older than Emilia and makes sense he'd take on a paternal role. One of the movies or OVA's details more backstory, can't remember which one though.
