Just a minor thing about Lev's name pronunciation. His name is, as you already know, Russian, so it follows Russian pronunciation rules that you're not familiar with: there are 10 vowels in the Russian language, divided into 2 groups: hard vowels (А, О, У, Ы, Э) and soft vowels (Я, Ё, Ю, И, Е). The hard vowels are pronounced the same ways we do them in Latin-based languages: a (ah), o (oh), u (oo), ui (this one is special and there's no english equivalent), e (eh). The soft vowels are pronounced by adding the sound "i" in front of the respective vowel: so Я = y + a = ya. Similarly, Ё = y + o = yo Ю = y + u = yu И = y + ui = ii Е = y + Э = ie So the name "Lev" would sound like /Lev/ if it were written like LЭV, but because it uses the soft vowel "e", it's actually pronounced /Liev/

2023-12-31 17:31:20 +0000 UTCAbout Kuroos hair since you guys mentioned it, it's actually just bed-head, with his current worry being "He can't seem to get rid of his bed-head hair" I know there wasn't enough time to put everything from the manga in the OVAs and they had to leave out quite a bit, but I'm still so sad that one of my favorite moments in this Tokyo qualifier arc didn't make it in. I'm not usually someone that says that "you should read the manga" and stuff (even though I know I bring up the manga a lot, sorry for that) but in this instance, I think it would be worth a read through. It's only 16ish chapters(end of 190-206) in case you have time and feel like reading something lol. So excited for your reactions to my favorite season, really hope you'll enjoy it just as much as the previous seasons even with the change in animation and artstyle. Also Happy New Years guys!!

2023-12-31 04:47:02 +0000 UTCushijima is top3, it is difficult argument to say he is no.1 because too many things needs to be accounted for. for example argument can be made ushijima in shiratorizawa is potentially no.1 setter but ushijima on his own not necessarily the same. Ushijima's strong suits are his left hand and his power. others have different strengths and volleyball is not a sport where you can objectively say what is the best just like in rock paper scissor type of thing. speed, technique, power... there isnt one thing that is objectively better than others, it is based on individual player and individual teams and the matchups etc.

Getting into the opponent's head, manipulating the perception of the refs and audience, whatever. They're willing to do whatever it takes for them to advance. They mean no ill to their opponents by it, they just do whats necessary.

Similarly, Fukuro means owl :p Shiratori means white bird, and usually means swan but in the case of Shiratorizawa, it means a mighty white eagle which is Ushijima. Also while they were talking about Lev's dumps, they were absolutely talking about his shits. There was a joke there, Lev took too long to get back from the restroom so Yaku said his dumps were too long, but Lev thought Yaku was talking about the length of his shits so he asked how he knew the size of his shits 😂 In Russian, "-ushka" is added to a person's name as an affectionate nickname. I think Lev's sister was calling him Levushka but subs just got it as Levochka :p

He always does that gets Bokuto back into the game when he’s down, even back in S2 in the training camp, he’s the brain of Fukurodani, just like Tsukki. One of my favorite characters in Haikyuu, always polite and analytical.

They mentioned itachiyama were the favorites to win nationals this year so they are considered to be the best team in the country. 2 Their ace Sakusa is among the top 3 aces in the country along with Ushiwaka. 3. Kageyama basically got scouted by the Japanese youth national team. They briefly mentioned at the start of season 2 that Ushiwaka was also on the youth national team so that's why Hinata calls him Japan all the time lol.

2023-12-29 19:52:19 +0000 UTCFell in love with Yaku (Nekoma's Libero) during these OVAs. I love sassy characters. Nekoma's Thirds years - Kuroo, Yaku and Kai. I love their dynamic, Kai is the peace keeper, the calming influence on the other two. Both Kuroo and Yaku have BIG personalities. There are so many characters I can't wait for you to meet. FYI, I am sure you'll be caught up with season 4. The movie is being released in Jaoan in Feb, but those of us outside Japan will have to wait months before it is released outside of Japan.

2023-12-29 17:49:46 +0000 UTCso for season 4, lets just say there were issues in the production area and i believe they were on tight budget (and less number of animators due to covid times and stuff) because they will use good animation in the important scenes and chose to do less in "unimportant" ones. so that didnt really make a problem for me cause they did what they need for those hype scenes. u might also see what i mean in the half time animation.

They ran into some production issues, so some shortcuts were taken to get the whole season out. The animation in season 4 isn't nearly as bad as people claim it is, but it is definitely a noticeable difference.
