Just to clarify, it was mentioned in the episode that the Shadow Beasts are working for the mafia leaders (who are running the auction and participating in it). That's why the Spiders were surprised when they found out that the Shadow Beasts stole the items. It seemed like they were trying to protect the items from the Spiders, as if they knew that they were coming. That's why Uvo thought that there might be a traitor amongst them who spread the news. But the boss of the spiders said that there is no traitor, and he anticipates that someone knew that the items are in danger but didn't know any specifics, and hence they sent the Shadow Beasts to hide the items and deal with the danger, which happened to be the Spiders. I hope it's clear :)

2023-12-16 17:33:42 +0000 UTCWhile Uvo is fighting, the other Troupe members do say that he is the strongest *physically* (not overall), and Machi even mentions how simple his moves are - like just throwing a right punch, with "a little" Nen added. I always took this moment as a hint that power rankings and who would win in fights isn't just based on physical strength or even the Nen ability, but also by how well the person knows their own strength, *how* they use their ability to the highest level, and not underestimating whoever they're facing

That's the coolest thing about the Nen system: it is so versatile that there's really no way to do a "Power Ranking". There are no Krillins or Yamchas in HunterXHunter; everybody is relevant. Like if the Shadow Beasts had been aware of Uvogin's sheer overwhelming physical strength going into it, that fight may have ended very differently. You can see the bones of HunterXHunter in shows like Jujutsu Kaisen where something like Boogie Woogie is INCREDIBLY strong but only because of Todo's intelligent application of the ability. Uvogin is just that incredibly strong but what really won him the fight against the shadow beasts was that he was aware of his own strength and they were not.
