2023-12-08 19:18:03 +0000 UTCi agree, especially after season 2 where it's made clear the person to take the shots and is in control midair is almost always the spiker. it was pointed out to show how hinata did rely on kageyama before he learned how to attack midair. after that almost every attack midair is fully on hinata, he feints, rebounds and direct his attacks by will. sure kageyama is a genius and he makes smart choices but it goes over people's heads how much of karasuno's current improvement in offense is due to hinata's control over the spikes

Ange had the same look my dad had when he was watching Honda play in the 2010 FIFA WC 😂 Carlie with the epic high-five (no, it wasn't cringe Carlie). Remember when you guys didn't like him all that much in season 1, though, reasonably so. In season 2, we started seeing what made Tsukki the character that he is... then in season 3, he makes all Haikyuu fans love him after that insane block + the build up to it. When I watched this scene for the first time during its airing, I remember replaying Tsukki's "SHAA!!" part an uncountable number of times. I just never expected him to shout out like that. The author did really well in showing us that volleyball isn't just a club to him anymore. He plays it because he loves it. 11/10 episode Damn it... watching Carlie tear up made me tear up 😭 Btw, Ange, you did well in controlling yourself from throwing something 🤣 Thankfully, no property damage this time around, but I'm still worried for future episodes

2023-12-07 03:27:59 +0000 UTCAgree! I would also recommend Donald Hui from the channel "Elevate Yourself". He's also a volleyball player/ coach and he analyses the scenes very well! In the past year or so, I started watching volleyball and understood more of the rules/ tactics involved, then I had a Haikyuu re-watch. Trust me, it adds a new depth to the show, it becomes even better because you become more able to understand why things are happenin, and you also sometimes catch when something is very realistic and when something is powered up by Anime power 🤣, although that's very rare in haikyuu because it's very realistic overall. For example (no spoiler), Hinata running from the left most side to the right most side of the court then jumping to his peak while kageyama is still mid-air in slow motion waiting for Hinata to reach there is physically impossible, even for Usain Bolt 🤣.

2023-12-06 23:47:04 +0000 UTC+1 MVP to Hinata.. all three contenders were good. Shirabu / Kenjiro was big because he recollected himself immediately and Shiratorizawa won the set. The only downside is it was skipped and the set ended suddenly it is hard to gauge his impact alone in that set. Another very big factor was Ushijima coming in a little quicker than usual for some spikes or if for some reason there were only 2 blockers he was able to direct the ball more well. Instead of just straight to Nishinoya. This is based on me speculating further on Tuskki's explanation in set 4. That's why the set had a big points gap of 18 to 25. Then in set 4, Tsukki came up with the idea of tightening the cross for 2 two-person blocks so that Ushijima is only limited to a straight spike and Nishinoya has a wider vision so he can pick the balls course and dig it. This helped them close the point gap. This is where Hinata came in so BIG!!! On top of all this, he suddenly upped his Blocking game which made a gap in Karasuno's game when he was on the front line. So he overcame that and made scoring hard for Shiratorizawa along with his usual point scoring. He swung the momentum of the entire game in Karasuno's favor big time. So for that reason i think he deserves MVP

They don't get that far in the anime obviously but that could be something fun to read/look at when the series (including the new movie) is finished, I'm sure we could find a youtube video that shows everyone's future and you two could have a fun reaction to it, there are a LOT of really cute and funny jobs that everyone gets into!

Defo top 3 episodes for me too and I wasn't disappointed by your reactions to it haha! Also love how Ange side-eyes Carlie every time she takes part in the Shiratorizawa cheering xDD It's ok Carlie, I can't help but nod along to them either so you're not alone lmao!! About mvps, I agree with you guys' choices for ep3 and ep4 (Tsukki one was a no-brainer) but for ep5 it's Hinata for me, hands down. Coach Ukai comes a very close second. I'd give Hinata the mvp cos of his amazing play despite his obvious disadvantage against Ushijima and even after getting called out on his demerits regarding not being able to block their spikes, he actually answered back by BLOCKING using a very unexpected move! As senior Ukai pointed out Hinata has no choice but to jump cos his opponents are huge so him telling Ushijima that he never intended to not fight using his height and actually winning a point from them in the process was massive imo. He found a way to jump higher and shut them down using the very demerit that Ushijima taunted him about. And Coach Ukai got the idea for the jump-straight-up play after seeing the way Hinata made that first running jump, and devised how he can use it to run-and-jump to the sides as well. I feel like that should have tipped the scale in Hinata's favour imho. That said, I'm cool with your choice too xD I also like that you considered Kenjiro (I call him Shirabu) as a contender btw but I agree that he was glossed over by Hinata and Coach. I can't wait for the next reactions gah, so so hyped!!! HYPEKYUUU!!!

It's the first kill block we see in the story but in the manga Tendo mentions how much ushiwaka hates getting blocked so it's implied he has been blocked plenty of times before. And Goshiki also mentions that teams always thoroughly mark ushiwaka so it's only natural that he gets blocked sometimes. Since we know Date tech has played Shiratorizawa before it'd be hard to believe Aone has never blocked him even once. Either way it's not confirmed if tsukki was the first one to block him in the prefecture but it'd be pretty unlikely. If that's your head cannon though I respect it.

For example, I also had to be literally told by the anime that the toss that went to Ushijima in that moment was a bad one. Then you have reactors like Sarah Pavan (whom I rank as a top shelf reactor for Haikyuu along with Carlie+Ange, the only two channels who hold that spot for this show) with deep and extremely high level mechanical expertise in volleyball, and she catches things like that immediately. It opens up a new level of appreciation for the anime where it gets incredibly hype for volleyball laymen like me, but still has enough depth in its moment to moment details that actual professionals can catch them

I actually think the fist pump after the block was better than the block itself XD. Although we have to remember he actually blocked it because Karasuno put pressure on the setter so he was irritated and gave a bad toss. It was low and very close to the net, which means Ushiwaka can't spike it as he would normally do... It was still a 100/10 moment though!!

You want everything to be neutral, to look the same so that when you set there's no tell or clue on where it's going or how fast it'll be. Kageyama's form gives nothing away, so Tendo has to rely on the hints from just the spikers on where the ball's going. Tendo and Tsukki using what they see to arrive at different conclusions is my favorite parallel in these early matches.

Like that one that had an extra moment where the opener stopped and the main character and main bad guy faced off randomly in the opener only in the climax episode, it was hype and I cant imagine skipping such a cool moment out of impatience. Like the openers can sometimes do really cool shit that you'd never experience if you skipped! One time I watched an anime where the lead died and the opener was exactly the same but the lead was just not in it anymore, it left such a weirdly bitter sweet feeling that was really cool to experience the first time. You should get into the habit of watching the openers

After the episode in season 2 where he has the discussion with Bokuto about the "moment" he was allowed to stay in the room, NOT cheering, but watching. In this episode everyone was silent and he was instructed to go on because that was his moment. The relief and the frustration in that scream ARE REAL.
