Slight correction, Nationals *are* the Spring tournament. Preliminary matches are done to move into qualifiers, and ofc, winning the qualifier means you qualified to move onto Nationals (Spring tournament).

that match point with nekoma with intense eyelock on kenma. to answer your question "what is that", kenma noticed that hinata is not longer closing his eyes doing quicks but also able to see everything while on top of the net. and then also one could make an argument that hinata was going for a wipe (umbrella thing) but kenma noticed just in time to lower his hand which is why kuro said how they finally cant afford to lower their guard against karasuno. but there is no proof of that, all we see in that scene that we can say for sure is that kenma noticed how much hinata evolved from simply jumping with eyes closed

i think that's not the ideal decision for a show like haikyu which is purely hype inducing. the openings are so great that they add to the experience alot. They can easily react to each opening after every season or even mid season

Fun fact, the blond guy in the yellow uniform has the same VA as Loid from SpyxFamily Also the 30 yo guy's name is Wakatoshi Ushijima, a lot of people combine his first and last name and call him Ushiwaka. I got so tripped out at first I thought I was seeing things, thinking "which is it??"

Preliminaries = Every official match we've seen in the past few episodes. Decides who should be allowed to play in the qualifying matches. Some teams who made it farther at the last tournament are exempt from certain preliminary games. Qualifiers = From this episode onward (starting from the Johzenji match). Decides which team will represent the prefecture (for us, that's Miyagi Prefecture, and for Nekoma/Fukurodani, it's the Tokyo Prefecture) at nationals. Nationals = The best team from every prefecture in Japan comes together to decide who is the best high school team in the country.

Spring Tournament and Nationals is the same. We are already playing in the spring tournament right now, but this is the prefecture tournament and only the winner of the prefecture tourney will be qualified for nationals.

Whoever wins the qualifiers will go to nationals. The previous tournament put Shiratorizawa and Aoba Johsai as the best in their brackets. They don't have to play as many games. I don't think Tsukki has hate towards Hinata. Throughout the series we see multiple characters recognize that Tsukki has an inferiority complex and thinks Hinata is above him in terms of volleyball talent. I think Tsukki is "mean" to Hinata not necessarily bc he hates him but because that's just Tsukki's personality and way of showing affection 😂

To try to clarify the preliminary/qualifiers/tournament/national confusion. Preliminary matches are before the spring tournament. The previous matches against the delinquents and the 2-meter guy are preliminary matches to see if and where you will be placed in the standings/seed for the spring tournament. The Spring tournament which is starting right now is the qualifiers to qualify to participate in the Nationals.

I completely understand Ange, when he talked about not googling stuff to understand what all of these tournaments are. Would highly recommend not to look up anything about the next season/movie before finishing the previous season because some of the names of a season or movie titles are the biggest spoilers.
