If letting kids enlist in deadly exams was a thing IRL, I'd never respect it no matter the culture. Some things should be always considered a crime and should never be accepted to be defended by the excuse of culture. I'm taking in general now. The show is a shonen anime OK whatever. I'm passed that.

The funny thing is to see they actually have penalties for the exact same crimes so it's not THAT different but they just care more about animals than children ๐คฃ

2023-10-21 11:54:28 +0000 UTCBro its not that deep your trying to use real life rules for a fictional world where kids can kill adults easily and use super powers and it has nothing to do with culture. and there not just kids killiua is a killer he can kill most of the adults in this show and gon is just as capable there taking the hunter exams bc they are not normal kids you wouldn't even be able to take the exam if you were a normal kid and everyone know what there getting into when they become a hunter.

Nobody forces anyone. So if they want to they can just back out, thats why Leorio even said "we should take this loss" But ofc where in the world killing children is acceptable? lmao

I think there's stuff we can all agree is just wrong and not accept the excuse of culture.

I hope other HxH fans would help me recommend to them to watch the big moments of the anime in the 1999 version. Also, episode 1 of the 1999 version, except for the non-canon parts. It's baffling that the 2011 cut it out but what happened in that episode adds a lot to the story with a great pay off later on.

Even in our own world, something that is "too much" in another culture or country, may just be a normal thing to another. And it's really discourteous to judge another culture for something that in our own culture isn't acceptable. It's even more extreme in the case of HxH which is of course completely different world. Even at this point in the story, it's already been said that even the Devil himself can get a Hunter's license as long as he passes the exam. Kids being allowed in death trials. We also don't know which endangered species she was illegally trafficking. It's a world with magical beasts. It could be that she was illegal trafficking an endangered species of magical beasts that is very important to a nation or a culture.

Little trivia about the old 1999 HxH series: the show had a darker vibe/aesthetic so they fully show Killua just holding the guy's exposed heart in his hand and crushing it after showing it to him. Both versions of the show are good, although I prefer the atmosphere of the 1999 version. The music and direction were beautiful in a way that I never felt for the 2011 version. But I would absolutely recommend the 2011 version over the 1999 version to any new viewers because the animation is great and 2011 is much closer to how the manga was.

Like especially the latter is very serious but I feel like 112 years is too much even for that. Also I know she probably isn't a kid even if she looks like one but damn the sentences. And it's legal to endanger and kill kids during a test? Because they do that a lot. The rules of this world are upside down.
