Both Yachi and her mom are serious to a fault, in my opinion. I've seen this same dynamic leads to failed familial relationships in other cases; you want good for each other but have failed to communicate for so long that you don't know how to do that anymore and it leads to unnecessary and detrimental misunderstandings.

She overheard Takeda and Ukai talking about the club's money issues, and their trouble getting a bus for the Tokyo away games, and her first act as a new manager was to find a solution! I don't know if you noticed that the poster she made was asking for donations to the volleyball club in order to support their journey to nationals, but that's what led to the phone call at the end, where someone saw the poster and called in to offer a donation. Without Yachi, they might have been in a rough position, money-wise.
