souma shou
2023-10-11 09:56:34 +0000 UTCThe problem is they already do spend most of the show explaining it, a fight can never go 2 seconds without then pausing it and taking you out of the experience to lay down some mumbo jumbo that everyone pretends makes sense
Steve.
2023-10-06 23:36:25 +0000 UTCI mean.. Who should be the measuring yard stick, then? Some people aren't even remotely familiar with regular everyday Japanese occult concepts like charms, shikigami, curses and domains. Do you want the show to spend hours explaining it to you or just cut their losses and consider you not part of their target audience in order to craft a more compelling experience for those who are? The appeal of JJK combat appears to be more on the problem solving side than simply powering up Dragon Ball style, and that's what I love so much about it. If the complexity and the required reading aren't to your liking, isn't that just a matter of preference?
V D
2023-10-06 23:32:57 +0000 UTCAs I said, I shouldn't need someone to type out an essay to explain it. The show should do a better job while I'm watching it
Steve.
2023-10-01 01:12:45 +0000 UTCSimplified domain is easy to explain. When a sorcerer creates a domain expansion they are essentially creating warped space within real space. This is why they must set up barrier to establish it and why it's always bigger on the inside than the outside. Once inside the barrier the sorcerer controls pretty much everything, they're free to move as they like and their innate technique is etched onto the barrier so that it auto targets anything caught in the barrier. An instant win if you will. Like Mechamaru explained, instant kill domain expansions are a tool of the strong, and the New Shadow Style Simple domain was a technique to protect the weak from them. A simple domain is thus, if a domain expansion instant kills everything within it's territory or space, then what happens if you create a space separate from the space in the domain expansion? Your own space within a space within a space. The domain expansion loses track of you and can't auto target you anymore as you aren't technically in the domain anymore. The trade off is that you have stand still to use the simple domain. It's essentially a weak domain expansion with no technique engraved into it. This is why Gojo's neutral limitless can't stop a domain expansion technique, because his technique manipulates the immediate space or infinity already provided around him and doesn't create space like a DE or Simple Domain does.

2023-10-01 00:49:58 +0000 UTCNot really, so far everything was really simple to understand while also being quite fun and original, I think the power stuff is perfect in this show for me.
Anichelli
2023-09-25 16:16:02 +0000 UTCGojos technique is limitless, he can use it in 3 different ways that are basically just stop, push and pull on steroids. Neutral limitless: the infinity around Gojo that makes everything approaching him stop. Strengthened limitless blue: the power to attract and pull things together, can pretty much make mini black holes. Reversed limitless red: the power to repel/push, seen as a little red orb that pushes things away. He can also combine red and blue to make purple, beam of "imaginary mass" that just deletes everything. I get you though. They didnt say much at all about Gojos powers until his fight with Toji, where they kinda explained everything. Many of my friends kinda immerse themselves in the anime and wont always read the subtitles, especially during intense moments/fights. JJK in particular aswell likes being super vague about things, only to randomly drop it somewhere many episodes later. I kinda like that info just gets thrown around a bit and that we figure things out as we go, but definitely easier to miss out on things. For sure a jjk thing, many people are discovering new things on the rewatch.
joyzki
2023-09-24 23:24:43 +0000 UTCPretty much all of Gojo’s powers. Also the Simplified Domain used in the Mechamaru fight. It also feels like there are multiple power systems going on at once with Domains, Pacts, whatever else. Now I’m not asking for an explanation, I’m sure if I rewatched I could get it, but that’s my issue. I can’t enjoy the moment because of all the jargon they are throwing at me constantly
Steve.
2023-09-24 13:26:36 +0000 UTCAlso he was that fast without using much cursed energy or his techniques, because so many non-sorcerers were close buy, he was essentially just using raw physical ability to avoid harming them.
Patrick
2023-09-24 06:20:01 +0000 UTCTo me, most powers are easy to understand, save a few people that aren't introduced yet. Which ones did you find confusing in particular?
Patrick
2023-09-24 04:53:02 +0000 UTC@Amrith In toji's case irc it also strengthens his heavenly pact if he starts exposition dumping so he gets stronger and faster by doing so.
Night Sterling
2023-09-24 02:56:12 +0000 UTCThey explained in the very same episode that it works the same way for a heavenly restriction. Toji gets stronger aswell by revealing his technique.

2023-09-24 00:39:17 +0000 UTCI don't think the brain thingy has the same ideals as Geto! Early/Young Geto: Wanted to protect the weak because he was strong Turning point/Adult Geto (jjk 0): He wanted to eliminate all human with no curse energy so only sorcerers were alive (and no curse spirits were born) Brain thingy Geto: He wants a world run only by curse spirits I think thats the main diferences!! In case its kinda confusing.
★Cygne
2023-09-23 21:03:08 +0000 UTCThe exposition dump only gets worse. Initially they had this brilliant idea of explaining the idea out loud because of a binding vow but now it's we will explain it anyway because we are making stuff up as it happens. I might have missed it but it started to make zero sense when Toji started explaining his techniques when he has nothing but a heavenly restriction. Was it to strengthen his cursed scarf? You can't tell me a person with insane speed is buying time.
Amrith
2023-09-23 18:15:58 +0000 UTCno spoilers, but this is not true, it is implied that he hasn't had the time to mourn his body, so I guess he just left him there, maybe he couldn't face what he has done?
Martina
2023-09-23 15:22:38 +0000 UTCIs anyone else always incredibly confused by the powers in this show? I always feel like more of the show is dedicated to going into some weirdly granular and technical explanation of what's happening more than anything
Steve.
2023-09-23 02:55:53 +0000 UTCGojo is truly nutty, he killed more than 3 people per second for 5 minutes straight. Just insane speed. Also, my theory is that Gojo privately buried Geto because they were so close, whereas usually when a sorcerer dies I believe Shoko (or another doctor depending on the location) would potentially autopsy them and then cremate them to prevent them from becoming a curse. Due to Gojo and Geto's relationship I think it makes sense the Gojo wanted to be able to bury Geto out of like, respect or honor or love or whatever you wanna believe.

2023-09-22 22:41:35 +0000 UTCMECHAMARU i was happy to see hes still alive, he was the one talking to yuji at the end

2023-09-22 22:32:48 +0000 UTC@Ricardo --- During the Gojo flashback arc, when Todo's teacher was talking to Geto, we learned that it's possible for a curse to take over a sorcerer's corpse. Between that and the shift in Geto's ideals, I figured his body was probably being controlled by a 3rd party. I sure as hell wasn't expecting to see a Krang in his skull, though.

2023-09-22 21:29:56 +0000 UTCTHIS IS COMPLETELY SPOILER FREE: Since many people, carlie and ange included, don't really know anything about mahjong (the game being played by the curses) I wanted to pass on this paragraph somebody wrote about the symbolism in the game: (There is some mahjong terminology you may not understand, but the general idea is still fairly understandable imo) The mahjong game sprinkled in here was actually interesting! Geto seemed to pull his winning tile, so he won on Tsumo with a closed hand, which is already a fair amount of points. However, the fact he seemingly won on his fourth draw means his hand was probably already in tenpai, or waiting on one tile for a win. It's crazier because his hand contains double yakuhan, the full dragon set and full winds set, plus terminals of all suits. Looking it up, this seems like a Kokushi Musou 13-way wait hand. The points from this are pretty huge, and the possibility of acheiving it, while not the most difficult, is still pretty challenging as the hand has to stay closed. Since he's the dealer (East) then he gets over 45,000 points which is massive. It's also interesting that his hand is considered one of the "three big families of yakuman", since there are three big clans in JJK lmao. Another fun bit was how Jogo, Hanami, and Mahito all drew dragon/fundamental tiles before discarding them. Some think these tiles are based around Chinese philosophy of the heavens, earth, and man. So here, Jogo has the heaven tile, Mahito the man tile, and Hanami the earth tile.

2023-09-22 21:28:12 +0000 UTCIt could’ve been Uraume, since he was with them
Ricardo Rivas
2023-09-22 21:01:16 +0000 UTCIt's also crazy that every plan to take on Gojo involves hit and run tactics in order to wear him down and eventually catch him by surprise because facing him head on is absolute suicide. Toji did it once and now fake Geto.
CornCobBob
2023-09-22 20:37:30 +0000 UTCI think you’re totally right, forgot about that! Hope we see more of her anyway!
Tristan Scholtens
2023-09-22 20:36:28 +0000 UTCYeah, but wasn't fake Geto there too? They might be in cahoots.
CornCobBob
2023-09-22 20:35:07 +0000 UTCIt was also suspicious that Geto's family of Sorcerers were absent despite them successfully escaping in JJK0. There's a reason why this fake Geto wanted to make sure that absolutely no one knew that Geto's body was up and about except for the curses he was paling around with. Another thing to note is that this current Geto has his right arm back after Okkotsu had blown it clean off in JJK. Which means fake Geto is either A: a cursed spirit B: learned reverse cursed technique or C: someone performed reversed cursed technique on him like Shoko, whom probably didn't.

2023-09-22 19:23:11 +0000 UTCloved how the author built up this moment, gojo is probably one of the best written characters of the series. the way they started this reminding us how literally every person close to gojo sees him as "the strongest" and barely as something more than that, he's so lonely without geto, who was the only person that tried to share that tittle with him and was a constant reminder that even if he's a sorcerer and the chosen one by the six eyes, he's still a human. in the hidden inventory arc, they showed us how geto was always checking on him, giving lectures about how gojo should treat ppl with more kindness, etc, trying to make him connect with his human side more while also being his friend! no other person has done that for gojo, that's why geto is his "one and only" (quote from gojo in the volume 0 movie). this is why it literally took him years to get courage to kill him, the only weakness that we can find in gojo is his humanity that is represented in his bond with geto, this topic has been shown in the past with yuji too, when todo was helping him to improve we see how the only thing that is stoping him to go higher is his emotions, yuji is one of the only characters that didn't grow up in a environment of sorcerers, he was raised as a normal human, thats why he's the best representation of the struggle that sorcerers carry with them, to execute your power, to be stronger and to use your cursed energy at its best, you need to get rid of your emotions, and its proven in this episode with the fake geto plan. in my opinion, the beauty of jujutsu kaisens writing resides in how much we can learn from tragedy, theres a few comedy reliefs here and there but still, this show is devastating af, a good comparison in contrast is probably mob psycho! excuse my bad grammar, english is not my first language but i hope i expressed myself well, thank you so much for the reaction! ❤️

2023-09-22 19:00:09 +0000 UTCI had always found it weird because Geto always hated cursed spirits and wanted them to go extinct, yet when the "parasite" had his body, he was teaming up with the curses and killing sorcerers which was a complete 180 from Geto's ideals.

2023-09-22 17:30:41 +0000 UTCThat's what is so ridiculous, it's like JJK readers and creators have just forgotten the fact that spoiler warnings are a thing. It makes me very upset, as I think the community had a responsibility to not spoil others and so many people just do not gaf anymore. I'm really disappointed in the JJK community recently, and it sucks. As a Manga reader myself I don't understand how people enjoy spoiling.
JadonTheEternal
2023-09-22 17:14:56 +0000 UTCThe actual Manga quote for that line hits a bit harder too imo "My six eyes tell me you're Suguru Geto, but my soul knows otherwise." It's such an impactful line, the fact that Gojo and Geto were so close that he was able to identify it wasn't Geto even though theoretically the brain takes bodies over so completely it's indistinguishable (other than the stitches 😂)
JadonTheEternal
2023-09-22 17:12:17 +0000 UTCYeah the whole one minute thing has seemed to be pretty confusing for a lot of people in the way it was explained this episode. I don't remember too much anymore but I felt like it was much clearer how that worked in the Manga. But the Prison Realm is such an interesting item partly because of that. The fact that it functions based on the targets mental perception of time instead of real life time is pretty unique
JadonTheEternal
2023-09-22 17:09:50 +0000 UTCLooking back it was kinda obvious that wasn’t Geto, they had two of the most opposing goals actually when u think about it. Geto wanted to get rid of curses by killing non sorcerers, where as brain is working WITH curses supposedly trying to help them dominate over humans or some bs. It was staring at us in the face.
LuciusArtoriusCastus
2023-09-22 17:07:24 +0000 UTCIt’s crazy that this whole plan was banking on the brain inhabiting Geto, as he even says himself he wanted Getos technique and that exact situation where Gojo is caught off guard. If it was anyone else it wouldn’t have worked because we see gojo take a step back about to run away, until he hears Getos voice. Actually if u think about this a little a little deeper, this is all Tojis fault. Had he never killed Riko and Geto never spiraled, brain would not have been able to seal gojo at all without Geto’s body. It’s especially sad that one of Gojo’s few moments of being considerate of others is what got him sealed. Had he taken Getos body to Shoko instead of trying to protect her from seeing that, his body would have been taken care of and brain guy would not get Getos body. Brain guy is possibly the luckiest character in JJK, everything js works out in his favor.
LuciusArtoriusCastus
2023-09-22 16:58:14 +0000 UTCMy personal guess; the brain could be that woman that appeared somewhere in season 1 with the villains on their beach, don't remember which episode it was though.

2023-09-22 15:18:22 +0000 UTCSo when "Geto" said that he can't be seen by the people in the high in season 1, he was trying to save the big "surprise" for this moment......The brain parasite is so gross
Liaominyu Chen
2023-09-22 14:49:47 +0000 UTCGojo is next level! [NO SPOILERS]: In the episode, Geto said that the condition for sealing Gojo is to keep him 1 minute within 4 meters of the Prison Realm, but not an ACTUAL 1 minute, they only needed one minute to pass inside Gojo's mind. That's why Geto's impersonator showed up with the Prison Realm, basically to let Gojo have a lot of memories coming through his mind, so that even if an actual full minute doesn't pass, many minutes of thoughts will pass inside Gojo's head, and he'll immediately be sealed. That was actually very clever from the fake Geto, or whoever that brain dude is 🤣

2023-09-22 14:02:58 +0000 UTCI think this has been the greatest episode of JJK so far. btw when Gojo says "all the information provided by these eyes tells me you're Geto Suguru, but my soul is rejecting that" he's not just talking about what he can see, you know his eyes are special and he can see cursed energy. but he still feels that it's not his best friend. what a moment. they truly are soulmates, either platonic or romantic (depending on which side of the fandom you're on 😅 )

2023-09-22 13:58:36 +0000 UTCThe one speaking to yuji at the end there was Mechamaru (you can see on yujis ear mechamaru's face) and while Gojo getting trapped sucks i think is good overall because now everyone can shine (even the villains) because the thing with characters like Gojo that are OP unbeatable is that everything in universe revolves around their existence so when a new antagonist shows up its never "can Yuji/Megumi/Nobara beat the bad guys" its always "Can the bad guys beat Gojo" anyway sorry for the tiny rant about OP characters. ALSO DO NOT LOOK UP ANYTHING JJK RELATED THERE ARE SPOILERS FLYING EVERYWHERE AND ITS A PRETTY BIG SPOILER.
