2023-09-05 20:35:57 +0000 UTCGuys, you missed it, but in episode 8 Tsubomi explained that the whole story about the guy she liked was fake and she was using it to test if Reigen was actually a good person that wanted to help her friend or a fraud. The whole scene is supposed to show us how she thinks and behaves outside of the bull's eye of sparkles and cuteness we always see her from since it's from Mob's POV

She was just testing Reigan after seeing Mob's face in a photo. She just wanted to see if he is a risk to Mob or not

2023-09-01 21:53:48 +0000 UTCbit of a long comment but what's interesting about reigen, and i saw this said in a youtube video that did a really amazing breakdown of reigen's character and role in the story, but reigen is quite literally "imposter syndrome" if it were a character personified. not only is he quite literally a fraud in the story, but he believes himself to be one too. he became a successful psychic despite having zero psychic abilities. what makes him so real is that nobody is more aware of his hypocracy than he is, because he believes that people should strive to be good and earn what they have, and the cognitive disonance eats away at him. and with mob around it was easy to ignore, which is why it mattered that that was taken away from him for a while. that's why mob reminding him that it doesn't matter whether he's an 'imposter' or not hit so hard. it's what reigen himself taught him: that it's important above all to be a good person, and that's who reigen is, genuinely, despite everything. everything reigen has he's genuinely earned it -- his business is the fruit of his time, hard work and efforts, and he doesn't even accept money from jobs when he feels he hasn't earned it. he always does his best to satisfy his costumers any way he can. mob entering his life that fateful day is the only thing that happened to him by coincedence. but mob's words at the end told him that it WASN'T a coincedence that mob stayed. he'd earned mob's love and respect, too, from the very start. this arc and reigen's character is such a wonderful take on imposter syndrome i think

Seeing Mob's face at the end actually frightened me and the way Dimple was screaming to look away.. Btw: I don't know if you guys missed it but when Tsubomi said that she liked someone else, she later revealed to her friend that it was a lie to test Reigen which means she doesn't actually have a special one. And her way in believing Reigen is not lying was when see saw my boy Mob the bowl cut with Reigen on the wall.
