The show does do a good job of explaining volleyball, but it doesn't explain the mechanic of the rotation again: that one guy was serving a bunch in a row because the teams don't rotate off every point. They only do so when a point is scored off the opposing serve (ie the team that is not serving has to score a point, then they rotate and get to serve and the pattern repeats).

Don't know if u guys in english say it different, but i've watched a lot of haikyu english reactions qnd this is first time i heard option 2. I just used google translate (english) to check the pronounciation and she speaks as in option 1 as well

I was totally prepared to wait for the end of the week, so thank you :) Carlies thought concerning Hinata being dependent on Kageyama is very valid, he is pretty much a newbie and has a mountain of stuff to work on. But that's what i love so much about haiyku, it's a story about the characters learning and growing and training to get better. It takes its time, but that makes it feel all the more rewarding. Also i really like Anges "cog in the machine" metaphor, it's very fitting😁

2023-08-23 20:45:21 +0000 UTCthe coach saying "how cruel" meaning kageyama and hinata meeting in high school is kinda late and if they have met earlier like in middle school, they would have been paired up since then because kageyama needed a spiker like hinata and hinata needed a setter like kageyama and those two would have been soaring high since then. That's why its cruel how their fate of not meeting earlier is.

You could also see that when Oikawa was serving in episode 7. Libero can be pronounced in different ways. Europeans usually use option 1, while Americans use option 2. The origin of the word is European though so I prefer option 1 XD. You could try it in Japanese too :) imagine saying Ribery (the ex-football player), but change the last "ry" to "Ro" 🤣

Hinata being less reliant on Kageyama and gaining his own skill to make his partnership with Kageyama stronger and more formidable is a theme of the show. But, as you said, Kageyama didn’t mean it in a way that Hinata wasn’t great without him, he meant more to let him know what they have as a duo right now is stronger than a lot of the competition they would be up against.
