haikyuu is my favorite anime of all time. It's so much more than just a sports anime to me, it's my ultimate comfort show that I can watch over and over and over again (and have). I really recommend finding the dub someday and watching it that way as well, it's my favorite dubbed series because it's absolutely hilarious. But you're going to meet so many characters in this show and the characters are written so well that sometimes you're not going to know which team you want to win, even if that team is playing karasuno. I can confidently say that if I had to put together a top 10 favorite character list, there are so many good characters that i think only two or three would be from the karasuno team. i came here straight from a youtube recommended video and didn't even bother to finish it once I heard 'uncut reactions on patreon' lol. I hope you grow to love this series as much as I, and so many others, do.

2023-08-21 04:27:41 +0000 UTCAsahi's scream does it for haikyuu to be a great series start, and it keeps getting more intense, and better. My most watched series (around 40 something times?) and I still tear up to this scene. Asahi is voiced by Reiner's VA, so yea he has a fantastic voice too, in a gentle way.

2023-08-21 03:33:25 +0000 UTCI know others already cleared up the confusion on some rules but I just wanna mention some basic volleyball rules to avoid future confusion (for matches). As long as the ball is in the air, the play is alive. But each side gets 3 touches (including the 3rd to send it to the other side), a block does NOT count toward one of the 3 touches. If a spike hits the blockers hands and touches the blocker's side of the floor (in or out doesn't matter), the spiker's team gets awarded with the point. But if the spiker gets blocked and it touches the spiker's side of the floor, the blockers get the point.

2023-08-19 21:49:31 +0000 UTCHaikyu loves its symbolics so there'll be plenty more to come. A few that have already appeared and won't be explained by the show (so not technically a spoiler if explained here): - Kage (影) in Kageyama (影山) means shadow. This directly contrasts but also complements Hinata's Sun attribute. - Nishinoya (西谷) means West Valley, his first name Yu (夕) means night. This directly contrasts with Azumane (東峰) meaning East Peak and Asahi (旭) meaning Morning Sun as discussed earlier. They are also designed to be complete opposites of each other at first glance: one small, one large, one timid, one bold and wild.

2023-08-19 21:05:34 +0000 UTCIt's the middle blockers I think. They won't be on the court at the same time unless one of them is subbed in for Noya.

2023-08-19 20:52:52 +0000 UTChaven't finished all of them yet, but in case u didn't notice, takeda-sensei is a literature teacher lol. He goes HARD on the speeches. I love him tho
Jjj.
2023-08-19 20:49:56 +0000 UTCI'm no expert please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it's 1 setter, 3 hitters including left wings and opposite(right), 2 middle blockers + libero constantly coming in and out. We definitely have more than 7 people on the team so let's see who's gonna sit out.

2023-08-19 19:30:27 +0000 UTCThey're my favorite team too! Their performance in the VNL was spectacular! It's a shame they didn't win it.

2023-08-19 17:47:09 +0000 UTCDaichi isn't a left wing spiker, there are only 2 left wing spikers on the court (Tanaka and Asahi like you said). Daichi is the opposite hitter, so he is on the right. SPOILER He used to be a left wing spiker in middle school, but i guess he changed positions during highschool. Also Daichi being on the right is also one of the reasons Ennoshita, who is also a left wing spiker, was having a hard time hitting when he got subbed in for him, he wasn't used to being on the right side.

2023-08-19 16:26:34 +0000 UTComg so many Haikyuu reaction! Thank you so much! Also, would it be possible to do a character tier video on your favorite characters of Haikyuu after you finish season 4? I would love to see you guys struggle to fit characters in the A tier since I believe Haikyuu has so many amazing characters 💜

2023-08-19 16:05:28 +0000 UTCbtw Asahi va is Reiner

2023-08-19 15:17:17 +0000 UTCTo help with Japanese names: the 5 vowels pretty much have one sound each. “A” is “ah” like aha, “e” is “eh” like in set, “i” is “ee” like in see, “o” is “oh” like no, and “u” is “oo” like boo. So Asahi is Ah-Sah-Hee.

2023-08-19 14:55:17 +0000 UTCOne thing I love about this show is although not every member of the team is going to get a ton of screen time, they all get their moments to shine. It’s very satisfying to me that not all the bench players are just there to sit on the bench. And that goes for other teams they face as well.

2023-08-19 13:02:29 +0000 UTCNishinoya cannot attack, not because he's short, but because he's the Libero. Liberos are restricted from spiking, serving, blocking, and even from attempting to block. In fact, they're not even allowed to start the set in a front position (they must start in the back 3). They can move forward if needed during the play though, just like how Nishinoya came in front to keep asahi's blocked ball from hitting the floor.

2023-08-19 12:58:33 +0000 UTCit's AH SA HEE. not hi.
bebe
2023-08-19 12:51:22 +0000 UTCAlso, the 'Ace' is not really a position, more like a role on the team (the more skilled and reliable scorer usually). As of now Hinata's position is middle blocker (same as Tsukki), and Asahi is left wing spiker. But they each have their own organic role on top of that (Hinata = decoy, Asahi = ace)
Stefano
2023-08-19 11:49:05 +0000 UTCFYI yes there are substitutions in volleyball. But the same player can't be subbed in and out more than once per set. Except the Libero (Noya), which has special privileges and can be subbed out freely in every possession depending on the rotation, usually subbing in for the weakest link on defense (back row). But on the other hand the Libero can't attack (spiking or serving) only defend. In any case don't worry about the technical stuff guys, the series does a great job at teaching viewers the rules of the game whenever needed ;)
Stefano
2023-08-19 11:45:11 +0000 UTCi just had to pointed this one out, both kageyama and the guys from his junior high school team were at fault. kageyama was a selfish player back then, he should have talked with the other teammates first what he wanted instead of shouting and blaming others to put up with his sets, the other teammates should have also talked with kageyama on how they want the sets to be for them instead of pushing kageyama away and the problem also lied with the junior high coach too, he should have intervened the issues before it reached to the last point. anyway they were just being kids so yea i guess it's no one solely at fault.
bebe
2023-08-19 11:13:26 +0000 UTCThe 'hi' in Asahi (旭) sounds the same as that in "Hinata" (日向). That's also not just a coincidence as both "hi" characters mean the sun 🌞 (日) in Japanese. More fun facts about their names: the character for "nata" in Hinata means toward, and the Asa in Asahi means morning.
