Itโ€™s worth looking up Park Eun-binโ€™s acceptance speech for her award for this role (I think itโ€™s called a Baeksang)

Timothy Klein

I believe season 2 was confirmed but nothing like concrete a timeframe yet. This series can hit really hard some time, but it is very worth it. Itโ€™s one of my fave tv shows ever.

Timothy Klein

Fair enough.๐Ÿ‘ And I know why you found your way to this channel then. ๐Ÿ˜‰ The discussions afterwards are half the fun.๐Ÿ˜ƒ

MasterOfPuppets

Aww, that's nice of you to say so. I haven't really thought about having my own channel. But I do like sharing thoughts and hearing others' comments about shows/movies I enjoy.

Flora

Yeah that makes sense. It doesn't feel like a "random opinion" (like mine) in your comments. It is obvious that there is more behind it. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Ever thought of going for your own channel with analysing shows /movies? ๐Ÿ˜‰

MasterOfPuppets

Haha...I lived in Korea for a period, used to be a speech pathologist for people with severe/profound intellectual disabilities (many also with Autism), and also love analysing movies or texts in general because I taught English and have a degree in digital media ๐Ÿ˜… So stuff like this is my jam...

Flora

Yeah, this mother whale thing hit hard ngl. We slowly see a red thread storyline evolving while we still go for new cases in each episode. They did such a great job in the writing. Every case adds a little piece to this puzzle and pushes the background story while still being entertaining on its own. Although this episode had some really emotional scenes, my fav is still Myeong-seok giving Woo the " Go get him!"- gesture when she was going for the doctor. ๐Ÿ˜ He kinda unleashed her ... ๐Ÿ˜œIt shows the trust he has in her. If there ever was a model boss...

MasterOfPuppets

You are a seemingly unlimited source of background informations for this show or autism in general. Your comments are a big part of every episode for me now (as I mentioned before). Highly appreciated! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฌ

MasterOfPuppets

I'm the one that said she's like a sponge I'm glad you like the analogy. I gotta say I love hearing your guys thoughts at the end of each episode it's interesting to hear your opinions & predictions. What I love about this show is how different every case is because it keeps the show interesting & makes you think about the situation/case.

remvrk

Oh wow thats a really cool detail about han bada meaning one sea! Love these awesome info-bits Flora!

Great reaction as always. ๐Ÿฅฐ The judge in this one (although seeming biased in his questions about lineage) is quite fair in his rulings. His comments about people from certain provinces' characteristics kind of reflects how the society as a whole also has preconceived notions about people from North vs South Korea. Defectors from North Korea are often seen as or treated as being inferior. As for the sacrifices you mentioned about Youngwoo's father...it's definitely tough being a parent of someone with Autism, especially if they're more on the severe end of the spectrum (e.g. like the younger son in the case of episode 3). Many parents try everything they can to support their child and hope they will improve enough to eventually be independent and not so vulnerable. However, as their child grows, they often keep missing age-related milestones and when the child becomes an adult and is still not independent, the parents are so worn down they despair and fear for what will happen when they are no longer there to help their son/daughter. Suddenly, their sacrifices seem like they're not enough or were all for nothing. You see that even though Youngwoo is very high-functioning, her Dad makes mention of things like cooking a meal or getting married etc (i.e. normal milestones for people her age), and as smart as Youngwoo is, she doesn't understand. Instead, in her own sweet way, she tries to fulfil his wishes (e.g. she brings food home for him because she doesn't know how to prepare a meal otherwise). That disconnect is what is often hard to bear, because it's not really about whether she knows how to cook or gets married, it's about whether she'll ever be able to live without him and be okay. Is there ever going to be someone who understands and loves her the way he does? ...because it's something that is really hard to do...and not everyone can do it. But it's also interesting to think that she's already learnt as much as she can from what her Dad has taught her, but she has to broaden her horizons and learn more from others if she is to survive in this world. For her, Hanbada is her means of learning about other people, other issues and most importantly herself. What I love about this is that 'Hanbada' (aside from starting with 'Han' because that's the CEO's surname) is that literally, 'han bada' means 'one sea' and it makes sense that this is where Youngwoo (like a whale) finds her way and learns to live freely. I'll tell you more about the literal meaning of the other firm's name when we get to that ๐Ÿ˜‰

This show really brings out the tears.. Close to home for Attorney Woo
